Hi Everyone! My husband and I have decided to be surprised with the baby's gender, but we are getting a lot of fun out of the old wives tales. One that I did hear was that if the baby's heart rate was over 150, it was a girl and lower than that means a boy. I am just wondering, from those of you who do know what you are having, if this has been true for you? In the first 23 weeks the heart rate was always above that number and yesterday it was 134 at 28 weeks. I know this is just a tale with no scientific basis... but I am still curious!

I myself, am keeping the gender a secret. My baby's heart rate is at 140, everyone tells me this is a boy. I also heard of the Draino test, LOL, but haven't done this one.

Well every time we listened to my dd's heart beat it was up in the 150's except for the day of the u/s to determine gender, i can't remember exactly what it was but it was considerably lower that day (maybe the 130's) so i thought the tech was going to say "it's a boy" but it was a girl. I'm not sure how much truth there is to that although it's probably the only one that has any real merit to it.

When pregnant with both my boys their heart rate was always somewhere between 130-145bpm. BUT it is completely normal for your lo's heart rate to be very fast during early pregnancy, and also when baby is being active in the womb. The heart rate tends to be lower when they are sleeping. Have fun guessing! I don't have it in me to be surprised...I had to fine out the sex with both beforehand.
