Anyone had no dilation and managed to have a successful induction? I am one day past my due date and there is no cervical change at all. My doctor, the chief of Obstetrics at a large hospital, doesn't seem to think I will go into labor on my own. Anyone had exerience with this?

it's a medical fact that you will eventually have the baby on your own. I would not personally attempt induction yet, since it does not sound like your cervix is ready. what's the rush? I was given the option last week to be induced this Mon. (changed from Sunday) and my cervix is dialated to 2. After much research in to the matter, I decided if there is no medical reason, I will let nature take it's course. Some say when the baby is ready, his brain sends off signals to begin labor. Some say it's the lungs. Either way, if you are not ready, I recommend waiting it out. You may have ovulated and became pg a little later than what you originally thought.

Thanks, Tanna. I normally agree with you, but I am concerned that the blood test is showing a slightly lower placenta function level than is usual. We aren't planning to induce, if everything stays this okay, until the 20th or 21st. The doctor feels she needs to be out at the two week late mark. I am sure of my dates, and she seems to be large. The doctor- usually a very pro-nature guy feels that labor is unlikley to begin naturally. (I'm in Japan- no pain meds or epis is the usual course). Anyone had a similar story?
