[Original Post]

Hi everyone, well, I went in for induction at 7am November 18. It all got rolling about 9am when they started me on Picotin and then the doctor broke my water. I started having regular contractions and did really well until about 4pm when I got an epidural, which was no problem and absolutely fabulous-I only got a mild headache when on my left side only, and was able to sleep for about two hours. I started rapidly dilating after the epidural (I think the pain held me back) then all of a sudden I was 6cm dilated, then around 5:30 I started throwing up. They checked me and I was 8cm. From then on, everytime I would dilate a cm, I would throw up and they would know to check. At 7pm, I started laboring down (thanks djm!) and then started pushing at about 8:30. When I would push down, there was a piece of cervix that would show up and block his head. They let me labor down some more, upped the picotin, and I tried pushing again at 1:30am. This was unsuccessful, as the cervix was still blocking, and the doctor felt his head and realized he was too big for my pelvis and that was probably why the cervix would not go away-no pressure from him. They decided to do a c-section which if anyone is terrified of this, stop reading now. I went in and they got him out at 3:49am on November 19. Then as they put me back together all of my anesthesia wore off and I felt everything. No matter what they gave me, I had hot spots right by the incision. It was horrible. I finally had to be numbed with lidocaine for them to sew me because I could feel it. After crying hysterically for an hour, and finally being able to open my eyes again, I looked down on the most beautiful little face ever created. He is 9 lbs, 3oz, 21 1/2 inches long, and so much fun!!! He is really laid back but wants to eat when he wants to and not too fond of being undressed. We got out Tuesday from the hospital, but went back Thanksgiving night because he had jaundice escalate. We got out again yesterday morning and he is doing much better. Thank you all for reading this and for all the extremely helpful advice during my pregnancy. You all are wonderful and I wish you all the best with your bundles of joys!!!!

Congratulations!!!! He's a big boy :-) I have GD and am worried that I might need a C-Section also. So sorry to hear you had to go through such an ordeal, but the end result sounds like it was totally worth it. Congrats Again!!!!!

Congrats Eclipse! I am so sorry you had a rough go after doing so well! You are why c-sections exist...you did everything right and the geometry just didn't work. I am appalled at your c-section, though. I had 4 and I hated every one of them as well. I think if you had a smaller baby you would have labored down so well, but at least you weren't forced to push with all your might for hours and hours. You took great control of your birth and you should be very proud. God Bless little Liam!

Oops, did you push for all of the time from 8:30 till 1:30???? If so I stand corrected and you pushed your little butt off....that would have been hours and hours.

Congrats on having baby Liam. That is a sweet name. I feel bad you had to go through that torture of feeling your c-section. That would be my absolute nightmare! Have fun with baby.

Congrats! So glad to hear you are both home (again). I hope you now have some good pain relief and are healing well!

djh, I didn't push the whole time, just about an hour all told. They had me try, then stop because of the flap. So, it wasn't that bad. And apparently if he was smaller I would have pushed him out pretty easily because I was a good efficient pusher. :)

Thank you all so much. He is a wonderful baby and already can roll on his side and lift his head!!! It is amazing!
