Hi May Mommies! I'm 31 weeks, due on 5-26! We don't know what we're having!

We're in the home stretch! Hope to see some familiar and new faces come along for the last leg of the journey!

Shea831 - March 23rd, 2009 3:49 PM

I'm due 5-7, and I can't wait. I'm one of those people who hate being pregnant, but love the labor and delivery. ( as long as there are enough drugs) I guess I love it because, I know I will be able to see the bundle of joy and hold them.
I have a two and a half year old, and she was a very easy delivery. I was 5 cm and an hour later, I was pushing. And an hour of pushing, she was here. Born on her due date. A first for my doctor.
With this one ( a Boy) I know will show up early, because my husband is going out of town to work. Thank God my parents live 2 minutes down the road. And my best friend is close too.
So I can say I have 6 weeks left, but I get the feeling it is less than that. I guess we'll find out soon.

jessica72 - March 23rd, 2009 4:04 PM

Shea, that is so close! I feel like I'm going to be one of the last on this board to pop. Two, three weeks feels like such a big amount of time.
I think I'm the exact reverse of you. With this one and my firstborn, I Loved being pregnant (for the most part) but did not enjoy the delivery part, maybe because it ended in a c/s. :( But healthy baby was all that mattered. Your delivery sounded like a textbook one. Lucky!

llmommy - March 23rd, 2009 4:38 PM

Jackie, what a scare! I'll keep you in my prayers. It's true, though, that 1 cm. isn't necessarily a big deal. I walked around for at least three and a half weeks at 2 cm. with my last daughter, and I hear stories all the time about people who are dilated to 3 or 4 for a long time, without ever going into labor.

Shea, you must really be feeling the countdown now. I'm with Jessica: those extra few weeks seem so long. I may not even end up being a May mommy at all, if this baby is late.

JackienLucy0509 - March 23rd, 2009 5:02 PM

Thank you for the prayers LL! I sure am a tad bit scared! I'm trying to be positive, but you know us emotional pregnant women, always thinking what could go wrong. Although, like you say Jessica, it is a HUGE weight lifted off of my shoulders knowing our babies have an excellent chance of survival if born now, even premature. My Midwife was telling me the other day, babies even at 26 weeks are surviving thanks to the advanced NICU's.

We're due on the same day Shea! Yup, 6 MORE WEEKS! I don't like being pregnant either, and I'm glad someone else feels the same! I feel kind of bad for saying it! But ugh! I don't think I'll have another baby for a while. =) But I'm sure all the aches and pains will be forgotten once my little bundle of joy arrives!

I have a feeling mine will come early too. My mother-in-law thinks I'm going to have her in a couple of days! AH! As uncomfortable as I am, I'd still like to keep her in there a few more weeks! Just so her lungs have some more time to develop, I hear those are the last to fully develop. I'm doing little Lucy's laundry today... gosh! This little girl has more clothes than I do! Haha. Take care ladies! I have a washer to unload... =)

mommy in may - March 24th, 2009 8:46 AM

Hey ladies ~~ good to hear everyone seems to feel the same as me. I have always been 125 pounds my whole life. I really am not enjoying this "being fat" thing. I know that it is for a good reason but the cute little tummy nonsense is really getting to be "I feel like a fat whale"... Even just in bed with my hubby, when I turn over and the bed creeks, I feel like so fat!! Even making love, it is hard to get in the mood as I do not feel sexy with this belly! Have a bit of a headache today, but other than that the aches and pains are pretty minimal at this point (knock on wood). I am sure these next 2 months will drag waiting for the little one to arrive...........

llmommy - March 24th, 2009 2:10 PM

I'm feeling kind of huge, too. But I'm not much worried about getting bigger now. Once I reach the "huge" stage, I stop really noticing the size changes.

I have some good news! Normally, I'm not happy to get a phone call at 11:30 at night, but last night, it was the Police Department, calling to tell me that my husband's car was found. We went and picked it up, and though it has some minor damage, it's running fine. Of course the stereo, speakers, and any valuables that were stored in the car are all gone. My husband does on site work, and kept quite a bit of equipment and supplies in his car. But fortunately, all that was insured. I guess the thieves dumped his car and stole another car from the same parking lot. Also, my husband's business checkbook was in the car, and a woman attempted to use it yesterday. When the checker got suspicious, she ran, leaving behind her ID in her rush to get away. So maybe that's a useful lead for the Police. My main concern has been just getting the car back, but if the criminals can be stopped, that's even better.

Missie76 - March 24th, 2009 4:39 PM

Hey guys:
I'm almost 34 weeks and having been having Mini Contractions since Monday. They are like 4 hours apart and feel like slight menstrual pains. Anyone of you have this?

JackienLucy0509 - March 24th, 2009 4:56 PM

Yaayy! I'm happy for you LL! What a relief huh?

I had the same thing Missie, except my contractions have been closer. You probably want to call your OB. They might want to monitor your contractions and check your cervix, just in case. Since last Friday, my cervix was only 1 cm. but you probably want to check it out, just to be safe! =)

jessica72 - March 24th, 2009 7:11 PM

LL, that is awesome news! Leaving her ID behind? Geez, that qualifies for stupid criminal moves...but I'm so glad she was!! :)

MIM, sex happened the other night after a month or so drought. I'd been worried about my cervix since I had a Leep and D&C and all that good stuff, but as things looked ok, we DTD and man it was humorous trying to wear my sexier nighties with my huge belly..so I can relate!! I can't say I had that huge sex drive everyone talks about in the second tri. I was waiting for it!!! :)

Missie, I have some pretty good BH, but they are pretty infrequent. I think you're just fine, unless they are closer apart and/or bleeding. But def check with your doc if they're concering. I think we're reaching the time where things are shifting around down there getting ready for the big event!

Well ladies, I have been sleeping soo good lately, only peeing once at night and then falling back asleep rapido. I better enjoy it because that will change soon.

llmommy - March 25th, 2009 12:09 AM

Missie, my doctors aren't much concerned about my contractions unless I'm having more than four in an hour. I generally have several per day, and a lot more if I've been more active than usual. In my last pregnancy, they got so frequent that I was starting to get scared. That was mostly because I had a UTI. They eased a bit once I took antibiotics and got that cleared up. But I still had significantly more in that pregnancy than in the first. (Not that it helped me deliver any sooner, by any means!)

Jessica, way to go, for even trying the sexy nighties! I've pretty much given up on them. I actually have a few things that still work with my big belly, but I just don't have the heart to use them. Maybe it's because I tried them last pregnancy, and they didn't seem to do anything at all for my husband. It's bad enough that I feel huge; but putting effort into looking sexy, and then being turned down, is crushing to the self image. With pregnancy hormones raging, it took me a long time to get over that. (And am I really over it, even now?)

JackienLucy0509 - March 25th, 2009 12:42 AM

Sex? What is this... sex? Haha! I feel really bad for my hubby, but GOSH! I am just not feelin' it AT all. I haven't for a while. Sometimes I give in, but I don't enjoy it at all. The belly just seems to get in the way, and I feel like baby's watching. LOL RIDICULOUS I KNOW! But its just awkward! & as for the sexy nighties, I've never been much of the "granny panty" type, but that's all I wear these days! I don't even care about looking sexy anymore! Oh, & I must add, spandex pants are the best piece of clothing ever invented. Haha.

Well, I'm a little bit depressed tonight, and I feel a little bit selfish about it. Its Hubby's birthday, he's out with his friends & family, and I'm at home. =( I wasn't even invited to tag along. & his cousin just called me and asked if they can just bring DH home in the morning. What am I supposed to say? "NO! He has a damn curfew!!!" So, I can't sleep, & I'm just here feeling sorry for myself! Eh... I dunno. I think I have a little bit of a right to be... just maybe...a tad. =(

Missy, the reason I say to get checked out is because of the menstrual like cramps. I had those too, and that's the only reason my midwife had me go in to get monitored.

I have a full scan ultrasound tomorrow afternoon! More 3D pictures, and let's see how much this LO weighs! Nighty night!

mommy in may - March 25th, 2009 9:19 AM

Oh I am so glad about your husband's car llmommy! That is great and I hope they catch these idiot's!

Glad you ladies feel the same way about sex. I have no idea where these horny feelings that I am supposed to get are?! That was one thing my hubby liked reading about in the pregnancy books... the "honeymoon phase" where the woman's body goes crazy for sex! Sorry babe, never got that. I was kind of disappointed too because I did not have a belly then. I really have no interest in sex and just like you jackienlucy, I feel like the baby is watching! Wierd!!! I don't enjoy it and I don't know why. I guess there is just a lot of extra things on my mind.

I can't wait to meet this little one! We are all so close. I finished the nursery over the weekend and love it in there. I can not wait to spend time with miss Nali May in there ~~~

Hubby does speedway racing and his first race is on my due date!! Poor guy. We also have a crotch rocket that we love but will not be putting on the road this summer :( So much is changing but there is not really room for a car seat on a motor cycle :)

I have not experienced any BH contractions. Knock on wood. Are they good to have? I have read that it is your body practicing for the big day. Yikes!!

I have my 3D ultrasounds on Friday that I am sooooo excited about! Are they in color? Do they give you pictures to take home like the other ultrasounds??

Hope you ladies all have a great day! It is a nice 24 degrees here in up state NY so I don't think I will be venturing out too far....

Missie76 - March 25th, 2009 10:07 AM

On the topic of sex, haha, haven't been in the mood lately. Used to have it all the time, now it's just uncomfortable. DH seems to understand, but I feel bad.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I called my OB and she said as long as they are four hours apart and not strong at all, I should be fine. I have an appointment with her on Monday and if things don't get worse, she'll check me out then. So I'm not too worried, they're more a nuisance than anything. I haven't had anymore since yesterday afternoon, so that's good.

jessica72 - March 25th, 2009 3:15 PM

MIM, that's cool that your hubby races. Mine does too, though he autocross races. I think it's a little different than speedway. Poor thing, I think if this next one is a girl, he is turning it into a gear head. :)
Missie, glad the ol' uterus has calmed down. It's good to know you have an appt. next week. On that note, is everyone on their every 2 week appts now? I know Jackie, you said you go every week? I don't mind them, but at the same time, it's kind of a pain, when you have to wait so long in the waiting room and then you're out in less than 5 minutes. Oh well...it's still wonderful to hear that sweet heartbeat.

Jackie, I think BH vary from person to person. I had wayyy more with my first pregnancy than this one. My OB said some women don't feel them as intensely as others. I think after week 35 or so, they'll kick it up a notch. Sorry to hear about DH's birthday thing. That would bum me out too.

llmommy - March 26th, 2009 2:35 AM

Jackie, I'd be ticked off, too, if my husband decided to go off and spend his birthday without me. Sure, it's his birthday, so technically he should be able to choose what he wants to do; but I'd still be ticked, or hurt, maybe.
My own hubby and I got into an argument last night. I was feeling pretty tired out in the first place, so definitely not a good time to push things. I tend toward depression and moodiness, I think; especially when I'm pregnant. But I'm really making an effort to rein things in, for the sake of my family. So it finally calmed down and ended well. (Though unfortunately, not before midnight!) Hubby came home from work all happy today, gave me some good lovin,' and took me out to dinner.
One thing I noticed last night, though, was that being very upset seems to give me more contractions.

Is anyone else suffering from dry skin? It seems like mine has been worse this pregnancy than ever before. It's in particular places, not all over. Like my lower back, my legs from the knees down, the top of my right foot, the sides of my right hand. . . It had died down for a few weeks, but it's back now, and driving me crazy. I'm going through the lotion like water.

Jessica, for the two week appointments, I thought I had started that, because one doctor told me I had. But at my next appointment, I had a different doctor, who ordered one last four weeker for me.

mommy in may - March 26th, 2009 8:53 AM

llmommy: I too have dry skin but more just on my stretching belly!

I am also down to 2 week appointments and at the end of April, they go to once a week.

Sometimes having an argument is the best way to get out ALL of your built up emotions. Especially when you are pregnant. And then you definately sleep real good that night.

I am only peeing once a night now! Anyone else??

My little one seems to still be VERY active and her kicks are getting harder. My doctor said that she will be running out of room soon and may calm down quite a bit.

I am really feeling fat these days and ready to be done with this and have her here!!

I have my 3D ultrasounds tomorrow and very excited. Does anyone know if they are in color or what the specifics are like?
