So, our baby girl is here and she is so adorable! She was born on the 6th of august (her due date) at 10 59 am and was 8 pounds 12.2 ounces! Here is her birth story... some of you may remember the cramping and such I was posting about on the 5th, well I went to the hospital when they were about 3 minutes apart and was already 6 cm dilated. At that point the nurses told me I was a keeper and I was soo happy not to be going home again! After a few minutes of being monitored the baby's heart rate dropped and a bunch of people came running in and gave me oxygin (which makes contractions hurt a little less btw). I had to lay on my left side for a while and they concluded that the baby didn't like the position that I had been in and was ok so they took away the oxygen. After a few hours of contractions that were not nearly as bad as I had expected, the nurse checked me and said that I was to 7 and my water was going to break at any minute. Well, 5 hours went by and my water wasn't breaking. the contractions weren't getting worse at that point and they were actually coming farther apart than before. I was getting really frustrated because I was tired and Had already been in labor for 24 hours at that point! So when the nurse came back to check me, I told her that someone needed to break my water because it was just taking too long. Well, she checked me and while she was doing so, my water broke and just flooded everywhere. At that point I was dilated to 8 and the contractions were getting much worse. After a while, they were so close together and so strong that I just couldn't relax through them any more and asked for asme pain relief via IV. They gave me some that worked really well for about 10 minuted but them when it wore off, the pain just felt that much worse. at that point I had been in labor for 36 hours and just wanted it to be over more than anything. I was so tired. The baby's heart started dropping again so they gave me the oxygen again. After another hour of hard labor, they checked me and found that I was still at 8 and wasn't progressing any more so they decided to start pitoson. I tried and tried and couldn't relax through the contractions which were getting so much worse each time and finally decided that It was the epidural or a c section and got the epi. It worked and I slept for about two hours. They then figured out that the baby was face up which explains why it hurt so bad. I was shaking durring contractions even with the epi because I could still feel the pressure. When the nurse came to check me, she asked it I felt the need to push, but I was so tired that I didn't even know. She checked and found that I was dilated to 10 and the baby was moving down. She told me that I was going to start pushing soon and went to tell the dr. The doctor came in and told me that i would likely be pushing a long time because of the baby's position. Well, I pushed for an hour and she was out! She was just the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and all I could do was stare at her when she was on my belly. I just held her and looked at her tiny eyes and her BIG feet. She was kicking me in the ribs between pushes! Well, we stayed a few days and I struggled with feeding her because she was trying to eat all the time and my nipples were in sooo much pain. tuesday when we were supposed to be discharged, the doctors said that she had jaundice because she wasn't eating enough and my milk hadn't come in and she was loosing weight. They wanted to supplement and said we could take her home, but we would have to have her checked the next day and there was a possibility that she could be re-admitted. dh and I talked about it and decided that maybe it was better if she stayed another night. I just cried and felt so bad that my baby wasn't feeling well all because my body wasn't giving her enough. I was so tired. Well, she was ok. They gave her her own room in pediatrics and I got to spend the night with her. After a long night of feeding her formula every 2 hours and pumping every 2 or three to build my supply and her being in an incubator, they told me that her jaundice levels were even lower than expected and she could go home that day. She would not need formula or anything because my milk came in. So, we brought her home and have just been doting over her ever since. She is sleeping now and I am so tired, I am going to go lie down myself. It has been a long past few days and we both need a good rest. I feel so thankful that she is ok and in very good health now. She is so beautiful! I just adore her =) Thank you all for your support and hope to see you in infant care soon!!
