I am currently 36 weeks and my shower was thrown for me by my mother and mother-in-law at around 32 weeks...I think 2 months before is pretty typical

Yeah, I'm 36 weeks as well. My shower was right around 32 weeks for me too. So if you're 27 weeks then probably mid January is a good time(plus it gives people time to recover from the Christmas splurges).

I'm almost 36 weeks...and I had mine at 32 weeks. :)

I am currently 29 weeks. My shower is Jan 10th...I'll be 2 days shy of 33 weeks:)

Yikes...as of now we have set the date for Feb 1st...that will make me 33 weeks...that should be fine! I am so excited that it is almost time for her to be here!!!

I am 32 weeks now. Both of my showers (one for work and one across the state with family) will be done in my 36th week. I know it is cutting it close to my due date, but it seemed to be a convenient time for everyone to be in town plus give them time to recover from the holidays.

I am 32w4d (yes I know, so specific... I'm counting every freaking day now...lol I can't wait to meet my lil guy) anyways, I had mine at 1 day shy of 30weeks. I felt like it was a lil early but my husband and I are military and don't have any friends or family where we're stationed so when we went to visit my family for Thanksgiving they all threw me a shower. It was two days after Thanksgiving and a month before Christmas and I was worried that everyone would be busy and broke with the holidays but OMG, I got so much stuff I could hardly fit it in the car. It took me a couple days to put it all away when we got home. People LIKE buying baby stuff and especially if it's your first, so I wouldn't worry too much about the Holidays, just have it when you can! :)

Im 32 weeks and my shower is Dec. 27th. My shower with my first was when i was 37 weks. 13 days before i had her.

I'm 38 weeks - 39 on Sat. My sister threw my family-only baby shower the Sat after Thanksgiving - so I was 35 weeks along I guess? My family is spread out so we selected that date to maximize the likelihood that people could attend, which worked - my mom and all five of my sisters (and their families) came. I got to see everyone, which is what made it most special.

And, I insisted on a female only shower (exceptions for boy children of course), so my Bs-in law and older nephews took my SO out for male bonding. One could say they initiated him into their little boys' club, which I really appreciated =D

If you know & feel comfortable with all the guests in attendance, make sure you play the 'guess the mother's circumference' game! (ppl guess how much ribbon is needed to go around your waist, closest guess gets a prize) I was surprised by how much I loved this game - and my mom ended up winning, which was a nice feeling.

For another great game, take some candy bars, heat them in a microwave, and pour them in some diapers. The winner is the person who correctly identifies the most bars. Its very gross, as the bars really resemble dirty diapers, but people loved the game. (I did this for my sister's shower last year and used clear seran wrap under the bars to avoid ruining otherwise useable diapers.)

Afterwards, if you have a lot of little kids in attendance (my sis did last year), wrap one empty diaper up and have the kids play hot potato with it.
