Soft Cervix???

I am 37 wks 2 days. My doctor checked my cervix today and she said my cervix was soft but I havent dilated any. What does she mean by a soft cervix? Does that mean labor is about to begin soon?

It doesn't mean labour is going to begin soon, unfortunately. Your cervix needs to 'soften' and become effaced (thin) before you can dilate. Some women become effaced and dilate a couple of cm weeks before they go into labour. Others do it all at once. Depends on you.
