but does anyone know how much you see your baby in the hospital once you give birth? haha me and my husband are having a debate and in the course of the 2 days or whatever that you have to stay, how often is the baby in your hospital room with you? my husband is saying she's going to be in the nursery A LOT but I think we have the baby with us a lot more than he realizes.

You can request that she be in there the whole time.. The only time they take her out is to clean her up and then to check her but she can be kept in the room with you almost the whole time.. I have 3 little boy's and another on the way due in 12 week's..

It all depends on the hospital I think....my hospital doesn't even have a nursery. They have a little place where a few nurses will take your baby for 3-4 hours to let you get some sleep if you request it...but if you don't ask them to watch the baby for a bit then the baby is in the room the whole time. You'll have to check into the hospital policy.

I believe every hospital is different depending on the type of facilities they have. We have a mandatory tour of our hospital a month before I am due and they give u all the pertinent info then, including where ur baby will stay. I would ask ur OB about the tour:)

It is all up to you. You can have your baby with you at all times except when they have to take it for the hearing test and weight checks. When you need a break or some sleep, you can leave it in the nursery with the staff.

It's up to the hospital and patient. I had my dd with me 90% of the time...the only time she wasn't w/ us was when they bathed her/ ped checked her/ took vitals/ checked bilirubin levels/etc

Every hospital is different and it depends if they have a nursery or not, when I had my 1st because they didnt discover I was pregnant till I was in my 2nd tri he had alot of tests done but other than that he was always at my side. I only requested once that the nurses watch him so I could get some sleep, there was no nursery at that hospital. with my 2nd and 3rd the babies never left my site once I was in the room with them after getting out of recovery, all blood work etc was done in the room with me present. I actually prefer having the baby with me all the time it makes me feel closer and more of a bond with them.

When i was in the hospital i had my baby in my room with me the whole except when they had to weigh him and on the first night i asked them to take him to the nursery so i could get some sleep, i was also in the hospital for five days. Usually hospitals are really good with complying(sp?) to your wants about where your baby goes/stays

In my hospital.. every minute of each day.. the baby is with you. There are no choices on this matter.. if you had to go to the cafateria or something you are able to leave the baby with the nurses but thats it.. all other times the baby is beside you. ~Kristin~

I really want to sleep if I can after I hold her for awhile. That way I can be energized enough when we are home and I don't have nurses to help! But I would just check with your hospital on the procedures. I chose one where the labor, delivery and recovery are all in one room. And baby has her own little part of the room too.

The hospital I had my first son (and in a few weeks my second) they want you to keep the baby with you. The only time he left was for a few test. I could have sent him to the nursery, but I knew what I was getting into and my husband was there if I needed a few minutes of sleep.

When I was there last weekend, they asked me which I preferred - nursery or in rooming. Then they went on to say that you can have them with your as much as you want, or in the nursery as much as you want. Which made the original question seem kind of silly & pointless! You should ask your hospital what their policy is. Are you doing a tour? I would imagine they would go over it then...

My hospital will take baby to other side of the birthing room to clean her up and do measurements, footprints, etc, then I get her for 2 hours, then they take her for 2 hours to the nursery, and then she comes back and can stay with me the whole time. I can also take her to the nursery if I want to take a shower or rest.

I know the hospital I am going to be delivering in offers new moms the choice of having hte baby with you the whole time or being sent to a nursery. But the best thing is - the rooms have a second bed for your significant other or a family member to stay WITH you =)
