Today and throughout the last week I have been having awful headaches. They get worse when I lay flat, or when I get up and walk around. I have also gotten a really poofy face, hands and feet. These all sound like blood pressure problems to me, but last week my bp was great. My appt. was in the morning, and the headaches usually get worse in the afternoon. What is going on? I have also had a few dizzy spells. I thought it was just fatigue, but when I sleep I wake up in even more pain. I alos seem to be retaining water like crazy. My boobs have that awful, swollen painful feeling again, and I have a lot of water weight around my hips. Does this sound like a bp problem?

sounds like preeclampsia. you should call your doctor and tell them your symptoms. you can also go to cvs or any drug store and buy a home bp monitor.

Thank you ladies. I did call my midwife and she's seeing me tomorrow afternoon instead of Wednesday. She said she thought it was probably a sinus infection, since my bp has been so good. But you never know, I am 40 weeks, and they have been taking my bp in the mornings. Maybe the suddenly giant boobs and fat face are all part of normal pregnancy symptoms. I'm secretly hoping it will be something, and they'll have a reason to induce me (I know, that is soooo horrible, but I'm only human).

How far along are you? One thing to consider is they can make an error in you BP reading esp. if someone is doing a manual (where they pump it up by hand and listen with a stetoscope). Few people do it correctly by feeling for your pulse to make sure it's pumped up high enough. Sometimes, it's not pumped up high enough, and the miss the real top number.

it sounds to me like you could have preeclampsia. Your blood pressure before has nothing to do with anything. My friends blood pressure was always normal and a few days before her due date, it skyrocketed and she was diagnosed with pre-e....it can happen that fast...make sure they check your urine for protein spillage.

Hey Flower.momma, it does sound like pre-E or BP issues, however, may I ask you how your kidneys are working? Facial and body edema can also be a fluid imbalance. Is your urine clear? cloudy, or darker than usual? Are you going frequently and does the output match your intake? Have you reduced your salt intake to see if that helps the headaches and swelling? Just thought I would ask as your kidneys really work hard in pregnancy too. GL to you.

Hey djh, I actually have a very low-salt diet. I am going frequently, but I think it is because this little guy is sitting on my bladder. I don't think it is a sinus infection at all though because the moment I sat down and rested for the day, my headache felt a lot better. I just woke up, and it doesn't hurt at all, but I know by noon today it will be back. I've had sinus infections before and they tend to persist. So I have no clue. Either way, I'm miserable and I think I'm going to beg to be induced today!!!!
