my sister was induced a week early because the doctors didn't want her having to big of a baby. She was petite before pregnancy, like 110lbs and had an 8lb 10oz. baby, which was big for her size, but they didn't want her going over 9lbs.

I was told I would be induced at 38 weeks because of the size of my baby and the position he was lying in didn't make delievery of a big baby easy. As it happened Tristan arrived at 37 weeks without any intervention.

i am going thru that rt now.. i was 33 weeks at my last dr. appt but i was measuring 40 .. so the dr is gonna do another u/s and he said i will be induced around 2 weeks early ...

at my last antinatal i was 32 weeks but baby boy is measuring 35 weeks, midwife said if i am still measuring big at 34wks then they will bring my growth scan forward and they won't let me go past my due date (19 jan 07) but i have 2 dates, i had 2 bleeds one normal and one light, the doctors are going from my light bleed which puts me at 32 wks but i have been going from my proper bleed and that makes me about 34/35 wks. well we shall soon find out, i either have 5 wks or 8wks left. i already have 2 sons aged 14yrs and 17yrs and they were not small babies. my 17yr old was 7lb 2.5 oz and 7.5 hour labour and my 14yr old was 8lb 6oz and 7 hours 15min labour, no cuts or stitches with either. my mid wife says 3rd babies can be awkward. so fingers crossed it goes easy.

i am going though the same thing right now when i was 26 weeks i measured 30 wks and then my last doctor appointment at 33 wks they told me i was measuring 40 wks and he said that he didn't see me going to my due date but he has yet mention inducing me even though my first 2 babies were small average and they could barely make it though my pelvis so i'll find out i guess this week what they are going to do

just a word that i learned, I had a growth scan done on wensday they said that my son was 5.5 and they took him c section that day due to weight gain, they were off, he was 4 pounds 11 oz, so ultrasounds are not reliable, so do not go by this, they can be off 1 pound . so dont get stuck on this ultra sound thing, I was, and i was proven very wrong.

i'm surprise that they took you for a c section when they thought he was 5 and a half pounds as that itself is small - were there any other reasons.

happened to me... they said baby would be 8lbs4oz at 39 wks and i was induced and ended up having a section after 15 hours of labor becaue the baby could not fit through my pelvis. she was 8lbs 5 oz.. it wasnt bad... i am glad i was under medical supervision through my labor, the baby went into distress at 15 hours, i was only dilated 4 cm and thats when they admit you normally. if your doc wants to do the induction go for it they know what theyre doing.

I was due on July 13, and induced on July 03, for the same reason. Trevor ended up being 8lbs 7oz and barely fit! I ended up tearing and having an episomity...so I was quite happy with being induced! It also went well....5 hours of labor with 4 pushes! :o)
