[Original Post]

I get the rhogam shot at my next appointment. I don't know if my friends are teasing me or not, but they say it is a huge needle that goes in your butt and you can't sit for days. How true is that? Does it really hurt???

I got one, and I barely felt it (even when it was in there). And, it wasn't sore at all afterwards...try not to worry...

That's silly. The shot goes in your arm, and it is just that. A shot.
hurts less then when they draw blood and it's over in a snap! Dont worry about it!
; )

meganmacg - January 28th, 2009 9:27 AM

I know I'm a bit late to the party but I got the shot right above the butt and it wasn't sore at all.

Angel- It is for negative blood type.

kmoselle- ive had many many rhogam shots and none of them has hurt at all. They've all been in the arm and i didnt even feel it and it didnt hurt afterwards. They'll keep you 15 minutes after you get it to watch for reactions. Why are you just now getting one? Standard is 28 weeks then immediately after delivery.

Angel- Its not called refus negative here. Its called being Rh-negative. I googled what you call it but all the results i got were mainly in french.

This post was actually from November. I already got the shot and it wasn't bad at all. Just my friends joking me, trying to scare me, that got me worried!

angelmonkey - January 28th, 2009 6:02 PM

newbaby, here they actually call it an anti D injection and you have it if you are refus negative its strange how the name changes for different countries but its still the same thing lol...............they dont keep you in for 15mins here and they give it either abouve your bum or your thigh, as they inject it in to the musscell (cant spell lol) really doesnt hurt though just stings where they inject it slowly lol!...........i think its funny how only 15% of the nation have a negative blood group yet i know more people who are that who are positive lol
