i have a random question, im 38+3 pregnant with a little girl.........to day her head is only 4/5 engaged, my question is can you still go in to labour or have your waters break with her head not fully enegaged? or does your cervix even do anyhting with out direct pressure of the head?

At 37 weeks my water broke and i started to go into labor and my dd was breech. Of course she had to be born by c-section, but to answer your question yes it is possible. In general labor starts when the baby's lungs have fully developed and a chemical is released signaling your body to start labor. Having the head engaged may help things go quicker but it is not necessary to go into labor.

the baby still moves down through the labour, that is what it does labour itself i mean, it is a means of helping the baby to move along the birth canal. I believe they call it engaging right up until the crowning when the head can be seen.
