I HOPE MY ANSWER IS NO BUT, I GO FOR THE TEST ON THE 26TH OF THIS MONTH. I HAVE FAMILY HISTORY WITH THIS SORT OF THING AND I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT IT.THEY SAY....AND I'M NOT SURE HOW TRUE THIS IS BUT, IF YOUR MOTHER HAD IT WHEN SHE WAS PREGNANT WITH YOU THEN YOU WILL BE MORE LIKELY TO HAVE IT WITH YOUR CHILDREN? ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE?

I was diagnosed with gest. diabetes at 28 weeks. I was so surprised because I had only gained 17 lbs. at that point (21 now at 36 wks). Also, I was terrified. However, by watching my diet--not very hard--and monitoring my bloodsugar, everything is fine. You never know if you will get it. It is common and controllable. I am 29 and of healthy weight and general health. Don't worry too much. Just watch your sugar so that you don't have a fat baby with too much insulin.
