Yesterday the Dr. said my cervix has soften about 50% and I'm trying to treat an yeast infection before the baby comes. She said over the counter stuff is fine but since yesterday when she checked my cervix I have been bleeding slightly and now I'm worried about this cream treatmnet I'm using. If this slight bleeding is my mucus plug will the cream effect the baby in any way? If anyone knows /has experienced anything about this I'd like to know please. Thanks.

The bleeding may have been from your doctor checking your cervix. I always spot after a cervical exam. The mucous plug is snotty with a streak of blood in it. Is that what it looked like or just slight bleeding?

It does sound like spotting from the exam, but that could mean your cervix is starting to dilate. As long as your water has broken, you still have the protection of that membrane, but I would still call and make sure with your dr.

Because of the yeast infection it's hard to tell if it's the mucus plug or not (the discharge is different and there is a little blood mixed - sorry for being so graphic here). But my water hasn't broken yet, so hopefully it'll be okay. I did the first night treatment last night and it was so painfull and buring - really uncomfortable and that's when I starte worring that maybe I shouldn't be doing this eventhough the Dr. okayed it.

I'm 37 weeks and had the burning feeling down there as well and had called the nurse for advise. She said it's safe to use the yeast infection treatment over the counter (monistat 7). Instead of inserting the applicator all the way in...just do 1/2 way. I did this for two nights already and definitely use the external cream for the itching and burning feeling. It helped a lot.
