tommorow i go for my last ultrasound kinnda sad but right after my ultrasound i get my first internal to see if i am dialated or effaced i am 36 weeks i want all you ladies who read this to send me luck that i will be dialated or effaced some i don't know how much longer i can stand being pregnant .i can't take it no more!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck. Try not to be too focussed on what they tell you. I was disappointed! It can all happen very quickly. I know a lady who had no dilation or effacement on Thursday and her baby was born on Sunday. Just hang in there!

thanks olivene!!!

good luck to you, i agree with Olivene too, with my first my water broke at 39 weeks, went to the hospital and was only 2 cm dilated and stayed that way for a couple of hrs, I had an 18 hr labor. my advice would be to rest as much as you can because you'll miss that part when you have a newborn. Also go to the movies and spend a lot of time outside with friends or dh. It makes time go quicker and for the first couple of weeks after baby comes you won't be going out too much anyways. Good luck for tom, let us know how it goes.

tanya2 girl i have much respect for anyone who was in labor 18hrs.i don't think i could do it .and i know people say that the epidural makes it easier (which i plan on getting)but your body is still going through labor.the only thing that is different is some of the pain receptors in your brain have been blocked to not send the messege that this hurts.your body is still going through it.I hate being pregnant i can't think straight,i am huge, and i just want to feel like my self again.thank you for your support and i will check back tom.and let you ladies know if i have good news.talk to u soon

1Sttimemomy, how did it go today? Try not to worry too much about labor, it is always different for everyone and even pregnancy to pregnancy. I had my docs appointment yesterday and she is not checking for dilation and effacement around 38 weeks. My doc didn't check me the first time and I know it doesn't really mean anything so I don't really care. My question is, is it painful when they check for it? I really don't want a painful internal exam.

Tanya2 i am so happy the doc. told me he will induce me the day i turn 39 wks i know it is not much different but at least i know i won't be pregnant forever.i told him not to check me scince it doesn't really matter and now i know about being induced.i am 36weeks 1day and baby weighs 5lbs 12 oz. is that normal they said it was average but i thought it was small .i am so scared and happy all at the same time.

The wonderful thing about being induced is that you know exactly when your baby will be born. YOu can start counting down. I'm not sure about the size but if the doc didn't say anything then it should be ok. Plus remember baby can still grow lots in 3 weeks. Is there a reason why he is inducing you though? Just wondering.

1Sttimemomy - August 10th, 2006 10:15 PM

Tanya2 he said he is going to induce me because i am just miserable and he said the baby is very health .when i went in his office he said are you still unhappy and i said everyday he asked if their was anything he could do and i said jokingly induce me at 38wks he said i will do it the day you turn 39wks .i was really surprized because i was just kidding but am ready for this pregnancy to be over.

wowwww, they don't do that here in Canada, unless you are way overdue or there is a medical reason. You should enjoy your pregnancy though and spend time on yourself before baby comes. Once baby arrives it will be all about them. Also spend time with dh as well. Go out and have lots of fun within the next 3 weeks.
