I am coming into my 32 week of pregnancy and have not felt the baby move for the past 24 hours.Should I be worried?

shelly - January 20th, 2006 10:02 AM

I would call my doc right away, 24 hours is a long time. Try drinking orange juice and then laying down that should get the baby moving, but would still call my doc ASAP

I agree with Shelly. That's what the doctors are there for. This happened to me around 31 weeks and they had me come in for an NST. The baby was fine and started moving like crazy when they hooked me up to the machine. I'm sure everything is fine but go get checked out to make you feel better!!

The dr says u should call immedietly if u feel no movemant in a 2hr period! So u better cal!!!!

Angela - January 20th, 2006 2:54 PM

Definitely call, but try not to freak out too much. I once went almost that long and then he started moving constantly again. But definitely call or just go to the hospital - they can do an ultrasound and check you out. Better safe than sorry.

Simone please keep us updated

Yes, pleae call immediately ! Doctors say you should call if you do not feel baby in an 8 hour period. I have had my doctor lecture me sternly about not waiting. She said some people wait 24 hours to call and it really upsets her.

Emmakirst - January 23rd, 2006 9:27 AM

Yes, call. My dr. told me to do a kick count, and monitor it, If you havent' felt any movement at all within a 2 hr period, especially after having something to eat, call. Keep us updated.

Yes call!! My nurse told me last week that they had just put another patient into the hospital because the baby was not moving. She said that some babies do die in third trimester and that if women would get checked when baby stops moving the dr. has a chance to save it. She told me a dr. down the hall just lost a baby.

Simone, did you call? what happened?

LB - January 23rd, 2006 5:38 PM

Hi Simone:
Have you called your doctor yet? I just called my doctor and got the fetal non stress test. You should do it ASAP. Usually once they hook you up the baby starts moving. Always better to call when you feel something is not right.

It is amazing to me what some people post on here we people are worried! Do you really think stories of babies dieing are going to help. We have all heard them and don't need them repeated! THINK!

to angie - January 23rd, 2006 9:00 PM

I agree! Gosh, scaring people into calling is the not way...now I am freaked out too!

........ - January 23rd, 2006 9:12 PM

No, we just don't want her to shrung it off! I think that some of the questions (like this one) are scary - and she needed to know how serious this could be. No one said, 'your baby is dead!!!' they just told her matter of factly, what she needed to do and why.

........ - January 23rd, 2006 9:14 PM

sometimes the right answer isn't pleasant - you THINK.

Lara - January 23rd, 2006 10:24 PM

Yeah, and the fact that she asked - says she didn't know, and obviously hadn't heard those stories before.
