Anyone have preclampsia? Or not have it but have the symptoms? I go to the doctor tomorrow and I am worried I may have it. This past week I have terrible swelling, horrible headaches, sensitivity to light and the last 2 weeks had protein in my urine. However, as of last week, my blood pressure was normal. I'm just getting worried and want to know if anyone else has had similar symptoms and what the doctor had said.

Hi kmoselle- I had it with both of my pregnancies. The swelling could just be a normal part of pregnancy and not indicate preeclampsia. The protein in your urine is certainly of concern, what did your doctor say about that? My first clue was terrible headaches as you mention but being a migraine sufferer anyway, I was not too concerned. The sensativity to light is usually caused by the headaches. When was your last bp check? How many weeks are you? How often are you seeing your ob? It does sound like you are headed in that direction. Typically they will put you on bedrest and try to get you to 38 weeks. Mine was severe and I was on bedrest for only 1 day before delivering my baby at 33 weeks.

I just had my 36 weeks appt. yesterday and my OB is concerned im showing signs of preeclampsia. My bllod pressure was quite high, and i have swelling in my face, hands, and lower legs. Hes not too concerned as of now, just keeping a close eye out. If your blood pressure is fine, id say you're ok. Thats the main concern of preeclampsia.

Well, doctor said my blood pressure is normal, low actually. So she is not worried about it, just keeping an eye on my bp, since I do have the other symptoms. As for the protein in my urine, she said I need to drink more water. The headaches could have been just that. The symptoms may or may not be related and she is going to keep a close eye on me. I will be 37 weeks on Saturday. Woop Woop!

KMOSELLE, i actually had preeclampsia, which turned into toximea(spelling) with my DD back in Dec of 07, i didn't actually notice much, except 3 days before i was admited for emergency induction i had the worst headache, and NO medicine was taking it away, it got so bad i was crying in pain, but i didn't attribute it to that, i dont know why, when the headache hit preeclampsia didn't even cross my mind i didnt have swelling or anything just that headache, through my pregnancy my BP was always perfect, and so was my urine and then the visit to the dr (3 days after the headache) it was WAY WAY WAY up there and they rushed me to the hospital, and did some blood work , and some how that showed i had had high BP for a few days (not sure how they do that but they said it) so i was induced then when that didn't work and my BP got higher they did an emergency csection, now it sounds scary, but honestly it wasn't.... i didn't feel any pain or anything, infact normally when my BP goes up i can tell, but during that time i couldn't, but do keep an eye on those headaches, this headache was like no headache i had ever had, and no medicine was fixing it (normally tylenol and my headache meds would knock out any headache) but this one wasn't working, and it was from my shoulders to my face, like a tension sinus headache mixed together.... so just keep a close eye on that, and if you get one like that or just a really bad headache, head to your OB's office, or L&D, better safe than sorry. but like i said, my baby girl was born fine and i am fine from it! so just be aware but DONT freak out and stress too much, enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy (i know once you hit that im so over this stage its hard to hear that) BUT enjoy feeling your little one moving and playing in there, soon enough you will see their little face and hold them on the "outside" Congrats,
