Ok I know this is TMI but I need to ask.. I am only 31 weeks but the past week or so my vagina, labia, etc that whole area is really sore.. and I got a mirror and looked at my labia etc today before I got in the shower and they are so swollen... I feel like someone took a bowling ball and shoved it into my crotch area... Is this normal? I have a doc app tomorrow so I will ask but it just seems a little early for this... I don't know if the baby "dropped" and that is causing it or just the extra weight??? Anyone have this or know anything about this??

EXCITED--My friend said that she got VERY swollen below at the end of her pregnancy. It's from all the xtra blood flowing. But, she never said she was sore. Some people also get sore and swollen from yeast infections or Bact Inf. Sorry I don't have a definitive answer...hope ur Dr's appt goes well.

Excited - I was talking to my bf yesterday about how fat/swollen mine got too (weird discussion haha), it is not sore though although yesterday I felt weird pains up top like baby was pushing on cervix

I definitely know what you mean. I didn't really get this way with my first, but with all the rest I have. My doctor told me it was all the pressure of your growing uterus on your vaginal area accompanied by the increased blood flow. Talk to your doctor. Sometimes putting your feet up will get the blood moving in other directions. Good luck!

I think the baby "dropped" b/c my belly looks different and suddenly my rib pain is gone too- so I am guessing that its just from the pressure of her head and all- the soreness I think is just b/c its swollen-- I made an ice pack of sorts and that seems to help.... its just such a weird things...

Hey there girl... YEP.. .this is totally normal and is due to the 40-60% extra blood flow that we have now.. They say it can cause intense o's... but I really don't know that because I am trying to keep my hubby away from that general area :) As for what to do.. I am not sure on that.. I just know that I have seen it addressed... and Jenny McCarthy talked about it in her book... which by the way is hillarious!!!!

Wasn't that the BEST BOOK!!!! I want to get the one she wrote for the first year of life too.. she really made me laugh.. and it was such an easy read.

Hi- Thanks for your reply's . I checked with the doc today and yeah she said it was normal- and probably worsened by the fact that the baby is head down and pressing on that area even more. and oh yeah- I read that book by jenny McCarthy- It was hilarious... I had forgetten what she wrote about that- but yeah now that you mention it- I think she called her "girls" swollen blue twinkies hugging each other or something like that!! Another humilating pregnancy woe.... As if asking poor DH to help me shave my pubic hair and cut my toenails isn't embarrising enough.. now I have to apply ice packs to my crotch!!!! :o)
