Hi ladies! Justine: That is exciting about your new house! Has the sale gone through yet or are you still in the process? we have been looking at a few places ourselves. We would like a 3 bedroom place with a bit more growing room. We may go to the bank for a talk sometime this month. And if we get the "go-ahead" for the mortgage price we want then we will put our place on the market. Surprisingly townhouses in our complex have been selling fairly quickly (1-2 months) so I don't think we will have a problem selling especially since our unit is the most updated. mamagoose: Glad to see you're still "alive" enough to make it on the computer and your kids haven't eaten you yet. Talking about naps....Caden went without a nap yesterday for the first time ever. Dh and I were shocked and disappointed that we didn't get our down-time. Today he took a 1.5 hr nap. It looks like our nap might be slowly disappearing. *sigh* Too bad about Chloe's mix-up...I don't think Jaxon experienced that but Caden had it for sure. Jaxon...can I give another *sigh*...has seperation anxiety like I have never seen it. He is continually whining or doing the "Chu-baka" (as Dh calls it) until he is held. It has been a rough week with him. AND both boys had some kind of tummy bug. Caden was vomiting, and is all better now but Jaxon just has the worst diarrhea. Bright yellow and very runny. I am taking him to the doc on Wed because we are on day 5 now and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Caden is started to climb out of his toddler bed now, but just sits on his stool. Night time sleep has been horrible...I get up at least 4x between the 2 of them. And Caden has been getting up at 5am the last week. He is getting all of his canines at the same time. I can't wait until he is done teething! Jaxon isn't crawling yet...and he is such a grump that any tummy time is impossible. Caden's birthday is on the 17th but his party is on the 21st. We are renting a room at the community center because there are too many people coming and our place too small to accomodate them. Like I said before we are going with the "Thomas the Tank Engine" theme and I ordered some stuff online for that a while ago. I also ordered a cake from Save-On with the same theme. We bought him one present for his birthday...the KidKraft Car Garage. Got it off Ebay and it should be in the mail now. For any boys who love cars check this item out. It's expensive but we thought we would get a lot of use out of it seeing as we have too boys close in age. Okay, Jaxon is up from his nap and Caden is using my legs as a freeway for his cars.

Hi everyone. MamaGoose - Chloe looks lovely. Hope Tyler has a good 2nd Birthday. I just bought ready made cakes for Nick! DDT - Glad you'ld be able to sell your place quickly. Hope Caden has a good birthday and Jaxon is better now. We've only got two bedrooms at the moment and desperately wanted a third plus a bigger lounge - we've got 4 bedrooms plus a big lounge though 3 bedrooms are small (all singles) but that's fine with kids. We have had an offer accepted on the house but it will take until about 20 March for the sale to go through. I just filled in a mountain of forms for the Solicitor this weekend. To move by 20 March we need the survey done by this Thursday (to give our notice in on the house we rent) - I'ld booked it for yesterday but we got hit by the worst snow in 18 years so it had to be cancelled as they couldn't see the house enough. The nursery was closed, I worked from home and DH stayed home too. Nick was so excited to see snow - he kept kicking it and giggling. Sophie has been asked to be a bridesmaid at my brother's wedding in May - she'll love it. DB - Hope all is well with you and Audrey had a good birthday.

Justine1 - February 3rd, 2009 10:47 AM

Just added some pics to the website include one of Nick with his hand in his mouth asleep cuddling his rabbit which I think we can use at his wedding!! - w w w (dot) totsites (dot) com / tot / sophie

Hi everyone... I'm finding I have to work a bit harder the last few days; Chloe has come out of that sleepy newborn phase and I'm trying to figure out how I'm supposed to get her down for her naps while Tyler is hanging off my leg and destroying the house. Any suggestions? I've always been pretty clueless when it comes to getting babies to sleep at naptime. Luckily, Chloe had her first 'regular' night last night, she went to bed at 7pm, we gave her a dream-feed at 10pm, then she woke up to nurse at 1am and 4am and actually went back to sleep until 7am this time (instead of being up for the day at 4am), HOORAY! Plus, Tyler is having a nap today, so I should count my blessings I guess. Justine- I love the pics, Sophie and Nick are so cute! I didn't realize how close in age they are; for some reason I thought Sophie was a year older. They're adorable, they seem like good friends from the photos. DDT- Ugh, what a week you've had, hopefully Jaxon's separation anxiety eases up once his tummy bug passes, and those molars pop through quickly for Caden. I have no idea what's going on in Tyler's mouth these days, he's not too cooperative when I try to look, but I think he's got everything now. So I get a 6 month teething-free break, and then Chloe starts her teething saga.OK, gotta run, Chloe's up and she always sounds like she's being tortured if I don't feed her within 30 seconds!

Justine1 - February 6th, 2009 11:15 AM

MamaGoose - Glad Chloe had her first regular night - it makes such a difference when they do that. Sorry but I'm also very clueless about getting babies to sleep at naptime - or at any time! Sophie doesn't seem to need to nap and can manage on 9 hours at night max and run around all day. She stopped regular napping at about 10 months - sigh. Fortunately Nick likes his sleep and out of choice would have a 2 hour midday nap. He sleeps about 10 hours at night (9pm to 7am) plus a 1 hour nap at nursery (they wake him up). He is definately related to me! As for us got the survey back on the house and it showed lots of issues and is 49 pages long!!! So I'm trying to renegiotiate the price - argh. So its looking very doubtful we'll move by 20 March - all depends how it goes today. May have to pull out but I really hope not.

Justine1 - February 7th, 2009 2:21 AM

House is back on for 20th March - yay. Got another £10k knocked off the purchase price. Gave our notice in to landlady. It was chaos yesterday - bad snow, 3 reports to finish at work and negiotating a house deal and giving our notice in. Seller now wants us to exchange within 14 days - we'll try but can only go as fast as the solicitor can (lawyer). His solicitor is on holiday for a week and hasn't sent any papers over so there not exactly helping themselves! On Sunday we're off to my friends house for lunch which should be nice. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

DB - February 7th, 2009 9:51 PM

OMG, you'd think I fell off the face of the earth lately...I am soooo busy I cannot even find the time to check in :( School is keeping me busy...as are the kids of course. DDT-wow, what a rough week you've had! Poor sick boys!!! I hope they're both back to 100% soon! And hope Caden starts sleeping better. Justine-yay for moving! That is great!!!!! I have to check out your pictures. That is great you got that much knocked off the price..I'm not sure what that is in US$, but it sounds big! Mamagoose-ahh, I can totally relate....I JUST started putting Owen down for naps in a crib! He was either in a bouncy seat or swing for naps (sometimes still is-bad, I know). He is 3 months and is getting a more predictable schedule. My issue is I'll get him very drowsy in my arms, then Audrey runs in his room SCREAMING and screeching and startles him, then I have to start over! So , my advice, probably not good but, put her down wherever she'll sleep!! So, what can I say...Audrey's birthday was good...we didnt' do a big party this year...I don't have the time or energy! She is certainly in the TERRIBLE two's now. I don't know what to do with her...she never stays in her bed, ends up in ours most nights around 4 or 5am...til 7am...ugh...She hits me when she gets mad, etc...it's been trying. Owen on the other hand...my sweet little angel (for now!)....he is sttn sometimes...down at 7pm, he sometimes makes it til 3am, 5am, or all the way til 7am??? i'm having big time milk supply issues...maybe because he's HUGE...I think he's 16lb at 3months...He's outweighing Audrey at 6 months! He's in 9 month clothes...he went through the 6 month clothes in about 3 weeks...Some of them he didn't even wear! Anyways, I had to give him THREE bottles the other day AFTER he nursed! Yesterday was two, today only one...and it was only 4oz, so hopefully we can cut that out...I hate the dishes, lol...I'm trying to drink extra water, eat oatmeal, etc...I can't afford to FF! It's so expensive! We are going to mexico next week for our friends wedding...Originally we were going to take Audrey, but we decided to leave her here...dh and I feel guilty taking Owen, but I guess since we're spending soo much money we want to be able to be fat and lazy by the pool and not chase her around..yeah, selfish, I know, but I need to relax! What else..hmm..I can't lose these last 10lbs...I'm such a chunk...ugh...Ok, well I hope to find more time to check in. Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Justine1 - February 8th, 2009 1:07 PM

DB - Good to hear from you. Glad Audrey's birthday was good. Have a great time in Mexico. We're going to South Africa on 28 March without the kids for 2 weeks - its too long a flight and its not really safe enough. I love going on holiday with the kids but you need a holiday after! You've done well if you've only got 10lbs to go. £10k is about $15k in US dollars at the moment - our exchange rate keeps changing, it would have been $20k a few months ago. Had sunday lunch at my best friends house which was really nice - she's due in April with her second. Nick's getting quite polite if you ask him if he wants something he says No thank you or yes please but can get himself worked up about nothing and stamps his feet - lol. We've still got snow here and predicted more heavy snow for next week. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

DDT - February 16th, 2009 1:27 AM

Justine: Congrats on the great deal you got on your new house. How exciting! Moving and going away to SA in March. You are going to have a busy month. Good luck with the moving preperation.

mamagoose: I used to put Caden in the living room with a TV show on while I put Jaxon down for a nap. Or Jaxon would just nap in his swing. I hope things have gotten better with the napping arrangements.

DB: I hope you had a great time in Mexico Audrey-free. And Owen sounds like he is doing great. Putting on the lbs well. Jaxon is also big...21lbs at 8 months old! Jaxon is a crawling maniac. He started on the 9th Feb and is getting better every day. He is already getting into things, and unlike Caden he is an explorer. Caden's birthday is on Tues, and his birthday this coming weekend. Still have eating issues with him. He still hasn't gained any weight. We are stuck at 24lbs 11oz. and he has weighed that much since he was about 16 months old. I have tried everything including Pediasure. I went out and bought some toddler formula today so will try that this week. We go to the doc during the first week of Mar to get a full physical done on him, and then the doc will keep a close eye on his growth and weight gain with regular visits. He is still wearing 12 month clothing for goodness sake! and he's gone down a diaper size! He is a good boy for the most part. Not too much resistance yet. Very cuddly. He has fallen off his toddler bed a couple of times but other than that the transition hasn't faced any serious hiccups. He stays in bed until we come and get him in the morning.

Justine1 - February 16th, 2009 4:15 PM

DDT - Hope Caden has a great birthday. Hope Caden's weight is fine. Nick eats better than Sophie - she's tall and really thin but Nick's eating has gone quite bad - he just wants biscuits, cake, chocolate, brocolli, green beans and oranges. I must have the only two kids in the world obsessed with brocolli! We have to buy it every time we go shopping. I'm not sure how much Nick weighs - DH thinks about 27lbs, they don't get weighed here now. I went to my parents for the weekend with the 2 kids as DH's Dad has gone into hospital and may need a heart operation. Will do the same next weekend. Its fun with the two of them but it wears me out - Sophie has far more energy than me - she can charge round from about 8am to 11pm without napping - sigh! About every 7th day she'll nap, thats it. Nick's had a nasty cough and as he sleeps with two fingers in his mouth he hasn't slept much nor have I as he wants constant cuddles and sympathy - he's a boy!. DH has had fun and games getting money transferred from France but looks like first lot is finally going to appear. Solicitor finally got papers from other side today so hopefully will only be about 3 weeks more until we complete. Then I get some work done on the house then we move then we go to South Africa. Nick was sweet when I left to go to work the other day he said "I want kiss Mummy". Hope everyone is fine.

DB - February 18th, 2009 10:06 PM

Hello ladies! Just got back from Mexico last night. It was nice!!! I am SOOOOOOOO tired as I had class ALL DAY LONG today! And I'm on minimal sleep (not from kids either, just a lot of studying!)....anyways, I will try my best to get on tomorrow and get updated.

mamagoose - February 19th, 2009 5:10 PM

Hi everyone- I'm feeling lucky, I've gotten both kiddos to have a 2 hour nap at the same time every day this week... and I managed to get Chloe back to sleep after her usual 4:30am wake-up time. I'm hoping she'll fix her nights and days pretty soon. We had 2 mini-birthdays for Tyler, one with just the 4 of us, and one last night when my parents came to visit. They gave Tyler a tricycle for his birthday, we're going to try it out after nap time. I'm thinking I'm going to be forced into potty training a little earlier than I'd planned because Tyler is outgrowing his cloth diapers... I got size 15-30 lbs, and he's just about 29 lbs now, and he complains they're too tight. I have him in size 5 disposable diapers at night, so maybe in a month I'll give it a whirl; it would be so nice to have only 1 baby in diapers.

Justine- You're going to be so busy over the next while, with your move and your trip! Sounds like fun; I can't wait until Chloe is a bit older so we can travel with the kids. We're going to do some camping starting in May once the weather warms up.

DB- I can't wait to hear about Mexico, I'm so jealous! We haven't even been able to get outside and use our backyard since December since it's covered in hard crusty snow; I could really use some warm weather!

DDT- How tall is Caden? Has his height increased at all in the last 6 months? Tyler was stalled at 28 lbs for about 5 months, and only started increasing in the last month or so. I was reading an interesting article on toddler growth that said the previous assumption that kids grow gradually all the time is actually false. They studied a group of toddlers and measured them every day for 80 days and found that some kids did not grow at all for over 60 days, and then grew up to 1 inch in a 24-hour period! They believe that it's because Human Growth Hormone is suddenly flooded into their system (like a growth spurt) and they shoot up... so that old saying "he grew an inch overnight" is actually based in fact. Anyway, it was interesting to read that a perfectly healthy kid might show no growth at all for months, but I understand your concern... especially if Caden isn't eating well. Hopefully he'll surprise you and shoot up an inch tonight.

Justine1 - February 23rd, 2009 12:04 AM

Hi everyone. MamaGoose - Well done on getting the kids to nap at the same time for 2 hours - I'm impressed! I used to take a photo of when my two napped together because it never happened! Glad Tyler had a good birthday. DB - Glad you had a nice time in Mexico. As for us, I went to my parents with 2 kids again this weekend as DH went to France to see his Dad in hospital with heart problems. I've taken them out of the nursery from 20 March and will have to find another one for when we come back after South Africa in April. Got so much to do with the house move. We're off to Centreparcs next weekend Fri to Mon with the 2 kids and my parents will come just for the Saturday. Its got a tropical swimming pool and lots of activities to do. It'll be fun but it isn't really what we need in the middle of a house move! I'm going to be moving offices at work gradually - spent my first day there last week which was OK but a bit strange as I didn't know people. This one Secretary just swore constantly and shouted it across the office and no-one said anything (they were too scared I think) - hopefully she's one who's moving out when we move in. My colleague who's contract isn't being renewed finishes end of March so I'ld like to spend as much time with her as possible before then as she's lovely. Sophie tried on her briesmaid's dress for my brother's wedding - I think its horrid - multi-colour spots but its my SIL wedding not mine so I just told her Sophie loved it. Think my brother agrees with me as he pulled a face and said the dress was nothing to do with him!

DB - February 24th, 2009 12:12 AM

Hello ladies! I'm finally back on...I am feeling overwhelmed with school...It's not that it's "hard", but it's sooooo much reading and info to retain and I've been staying up very late at night and it's taking a toll on me! dh and I decided to look for a preschool/daycare to send Audrey one day/week, so that she can socialize and I can study. Owen loves to hear me read to him, no matter what it is, so I know with just him at home I can manage to get a bunch of reading done, where as Audrey won't let me even open a book if she's near me!!!

So, anyways, Mexico was nice. The wedding was at sunset and was very very pretty. I am pretty sure I gained 5lbs because it was all inclusive, so I ate SOOOOO much food!!! Plus, I'm a dessert person, and they had YUMMY stuff, and fresh home-made churros, yum! Plus, the few drinks I did have were pina colados and daquiris, and those have so many calories! Oh well, right?!!!

Justine, LOL about the dress!!! That is so funny! Man, you do have a lot going on now! I hope you enjoy your get away. The pool sounds nice. The kids will have a blast! I hope your dh's dad is better soon too.

DDT-I'm sorry about Caden's eating issues. Audrey seems to gain weight, then not for quite a while, then gain again. Like at her 2 year check up, she appeared to barely grow height-wise, but she had a "big" weight gain (4lbs in 6 months)....it's so hard to get them to eat well. There are days Audrey will only eat crackers...**sigh**, talk about frustrating.

Mamagoose-I'm jealous you got the kids to nap together! I'm lucky if Audrey sleeps an hour during the day anymore....she used to take such good naps...what happened? She exhausts me now! And Owen, is NOT a good napper. He won't nap in the swing for hours on end like Audrey did! I am forced to swaddle him for naps (but not at night?)...but he's so big, I only have to blankets big enough, and he constantly spits up still, so I'm washing them constantly! Oh, this too shall pass!

We started cereal today with Owen...He's 4 months on Saturday...I know, I'm so bad. I should wait another week, but I wanted to see how he'd do. He seemed to enjoy it, but he still pushes his tongue out, so I doubt he even got much in anyways!!! What else...potty training, going horribly. I've basically given up lately. I don't have the energy. I may wait til my Spring Break and just try it, full force, no more diapers, let her run in big girl underwear or naked and see how she does. If it's a flop, then I may wait til early summer. So much for girls being easier to potty train.

Anyways, I can barely keep my eyes open, so I'm off to bed. Have a good week ladies.

DDT - February 27th, 2009 3:13 PM

Hi ladies! mamagoose: Caden hasn't grown much in the last 12 months. He is 33.5-34in long right now (it's hard to measure with a moving toddler). Which puts him in the 25th percentile. And his weight is in the 10th percentile. I weighed him for his 24th month and he has gained a few oz putting him at 25lbs exactly. At least he is gaining weight which I am happy about. I know the doc is not going to be worried but I would love some tips on how to fatten Caden up regardless. Jaxon is pulling up on everything right now, and wants to "walk" around the house all the time. He LOVES food. He could eat all day long. Nap times are great lately. Jaxon pulls in 2 2hr naps a day and Caden naps for 2-2.5hrs. I get loads of down time. I have noticed things have started becoming much easier with the two of them, or else I have just fallen into the pattern of serving two kiddos. DB: Glad to hear you had a great time in Mexico! I want to see some pics of Owen...I haven't seen any since he was newly born. Potty training isn't going anywhere in this household either. And I am getting unsolicited tips from everyone in my family about it. Caden just will not sit on the potty! I can count on one hand how many times he's done is fully clothed. If I try to encourage or force it it is shrieking and screaming liked he's being tortured. I think I may need to just go cold turkey with him and deal with the messy clean ups. He has to be uncomfortable enough to want to sit on it. He understands the whole deal because he puts him stuffed animals on it like they are going to potty. Justine: Hope you had fun at Centreparcs!

DDT - February 27th, 2009 3:14 PM

Oh and for updated pics of the boys check out: babysites.com/sites/deannedt/ (Jaxon is 9 months old tomorrow...I can't believe it!)
