Just got back from parents evening at Nick and Sophie's nursery. I didn't really see the point in going as they are only 2 and 1, I know they like nursery and I know what they can do but DH insisted so we went. Anyway, weird thing is apparently Nick never speaks at nursery. I told them he says about 25 words a lot at home and they were surprised but said they'ld had that happen several times before where the child only talks at home. They said Nick likes to cuddle all day long and sleep, exactly the same as at home! It worried me a bit he doesn't speak there but he seems to like it, Sophie says she and Nick both like it and when I asked Nick if he liked nursery tonight he said yes. Of course its hard at 16 months to know if he knows what he's saying yes too but he normally uses yes and no in the right way. They said Sophie's speech was amazing and she's really happy. They all seem to adore Nick - lots of the girls who worked there immediately rushed over to Nick saying its Nick, its Nick and all gave him cuddles and said how adorable he is and how he gives kisses a lot to Sophie there etc. |

Woohoo, summertime! Except for me, that usually means 110 to 120 degrees lol. I think as long as Nick is talking at home he's ok. Maybe he's more introverted at daycare? |

OMG, I missed it all! DDT-CONGRATS!!! He is so cute!!!!!! Hope you are getting some rest! mamagoose-so sorry about the m/s! That really sucks! I am soooooo lucky to have gotten out of it both times :) Justine-Audrey is quite shy when she first gets to daycare. She has become quite clingy to me. She loosens up though and has fun. I'm sure Nick is just fine! RMC-wow, 110! I'd die!!! Kim-how is Logan doing? I'm sorry if I missed more...I have had a long few days lately. Audrey woke up with puffy red eyes, bad rash all over, her eczema was beat red. MIL called me and told me her eyes have gotten worse, maybe I should call the ped. So, I took her in this afternoon. They think it's all outdoor allergies, causing an ezcema flare up (the worst it's ever been). Her eyes are red with eczema. You can't put cream right on the eyes, so I had to get this eye lubricant, so if it gets in her eyes it's perfectly safe. We also have to do oatmeal baths til it clears, give benedryl in addition to her zyrtec, try to suction her snot out of her nose, use Aquaphor (which is literally like vaseline-yuck!) all over her body, plus use the rx hydrocortisone cream. She looked like she got beat up today! Poor thing! She was in a good mood at the doctors, playing with the nurse practitioners shoes! She even said "soo"...Finally she is starting to talk more! No mama directed at me yet, but she can say mama. Also dh started a new job at work! It's totally different and he starts at 5:30am, which means I have to do everything in the a.m. alone! It really really sucks! Audrey runs away from me when I try to dress her...plus having to do all this thick nasty creams...it's going to be impossible! So, anyways, dh loses his company car (but gets a raise), so we have to buy a 2nd car soon. He is not digging my idea of a minivan..and i'm the type who said I'd NEVER drive a minivan! But having two small kids, carseats, double stroller and dogs, it seems the only easy option...Anyways, sorry this is getting long. |

Hi everyone. I couldn't sleep last nigt worrying about Nick but I'm sure he's fine. I'm sure he likes nursery - he just waves me bye-bye at the train station then DH drops him and Sophie off there and he goes in fine. I'm sure his speech is fine as he says between 25 and 50 words now. I looked online and there's athing called selective mutism which appears when they don't speak in one situation and normally appears before 5 but its rare and its stopable they think if you catch it early. I don't think he's got that but its probably the same social anxiety type thing. He is very clingy to me and doesn't really like us to go to mother and toddler - he wants it to be just me and him all the time. He doesn't cry or anything, he just doesn't want to play and looks at me as if to say am I not enough for you Mummy? and you can tell he doesn't want to be there. I thought nursery would get him to like being with other chidlren more but obviously not that much, maybe just needs more time. Apparently he loves Sophie there and as soon as he sees her rushes over to her and kisses her many times. At least the nursery know he speaks now so there'll be looking out for it more which should help. I hope its not my fault as I'm shy but he's such a happy loving child, he's just shy. I think he's their favourite boy at nursery as about 5 girls rush over to him each morning competing to give him a cuddle DH says. He can be a bit lazy just wanting to cuddle, sleep and eat and only doing other things if 100% necessary - its a man thing! RMC - Thats great its summertime. DB - Sorry Audrey's got allergies. Thats great she's taking more. Thats hard doing everything in the morning alone. Re the 2nd car I don't know if you have the same cars over there we have a Citroen Picasso and its really good, very boring but great with a family. We don't have dogs though just one cat! Sophie was funny yesterday when we went to the nursery in the evening for the parents evening she said "Papa we've already done nursery, silly Papa" - lol - then when we got back home after the parents evening she said "Is Mummy going to the station now" (for work). |

Hello ladies! At the moment Caden is having his morning nap, and Daddy is napping along with Jaxon on his chest so I have time to post and catch up. Everything is going great so far besides the fact that I feel like a cow...hehe. My boobs are like rocks! Jaxon can go anywhere from 30mins-3hrs between feeds. Last night we got 3.5hrs straight!! woot-woot! I really feel great though...like I didn't just have a baby 5 days ago. I don't know if its because its my 2nd or because I have a good labour. I have no pain or swelling whatsoever. Caden is being so good with Jaxon to (so far anyway). He points to Jaxon and says "baby" and then wants to kiss him all the time. Caden is getting more into biting lately...sometimes out of frustration or play. Anyone else's lo going through this phase? mamagoose: Oh dear! I am so sorry you have to suffer through MS. Maybe this spells a girl?! what were you kinda hoping for? boy or girl? How far along are you now? DB: Glad to hear things are going great. Your 3D u/s is coming up...you must be excited. Poor Audrey! that sounds so horrible with all the cream applications. Poor little girl...I hope she gets better quick. BTW my df swore he would never get a minivan either. Well, we ended up getting one because they are better on gas than a SUV. Personally I love it and I know he secretly appreciates it to. It has so much room and the 2 sliding doors in the back are a lifesaver when you have to plop two babies in the back. There is also so much room fo all the diaper bags, toys ect. The bonus about ours is that is has a DVD player and Caden watches his Baby Einstein DVD's on long car rides. And there was NO way we would have gotten our double stroller in a car trunk. It's like we bought a van to go along with our stroller...haha! Justine: I hope you are not worrying about Nick anymore. I bet its that he is just more shy at daycare than at home. I am sure there is no problem at all. |

Hi DDT - Glad things are going well. I also felt great after my second baby too after feeling terrible after the first - I think it was the much shorter labour. Nick bites a little but you can normally if you say no biting and distract him by saying something like kiss Nick kiss he'll kiss instead. At the moment its kissing thats in, at the nursery he's constantly kissing Sophie and at home he's kissing me about 100 times each night. Its cute. Hope you are getting some sleep. I've stopped worrying about Nick pretty much as he doesn't show any sign of social anxiety - like he goes round the supermarket shouting Papa and he never cries when he's at nursery. DH wonders if they just haven't noticed him talking as there's like 12 to 15 kids in one room. They did tell me they'ld said to several parents that their children didn't talk and several other parents had also said that their children talk lots at home. I also asked them how he plays peekaboo and they said with his hands over his eyes but he never plays it like that - he does it with his hands over his ears usually - lol. Sophie also says Nick speaks at nursery. It was funny the other day I even asked Nick if he talked at nursery and he said "yes" and when I said what do you say he said "Ta" (Thank you). DH then asked Nick if he said "duddle" there and then Sophie said in her best are you completely stupid Papa or what voice "No Papa Nick says Ta, Nick said Nick says Ta Papa" Lol. |

Hello all! DDT-you sound like you're doing so well!!! A friend of mine told me she also recovered extremely quickly after her second one. I hope that is the case for me too :) As far as the biting goes..yup, got bit in the boob last night...thru my shirt...it hurt like hell! She left little teeth marks! I say, NO, we don't bite! That hurts and she generally bites me again (last night she attempted to bite my tummy after my boob), or laughs at me. nice, huh?! I too hope this phase passes quickly! Justine-your kids sound so dang cute!!! I'm sure he is probably speaking more there than they realize. They obviously get less one on one attention...our daycare is 4 to 1 for infants...when Audrey is in the "tot" room it's like a 6 to 1 ratio, so it's understandable that they don't hear him talk a lot :) Well, speaking of speaking (sorry, that is so cheesy!)...Audrey is starting to really repeat words finally!!! She's started saying shoe, toothbrush (roof-rush, lol), down, ta-tu (thank you)...I'm so happy! Still no mama (well, she says it just not at me), but that's ok. She's so smart, she knows which shoes are mine, and which are dh's and she likes to bring them to us so we can put them on. I love the things toddlers do! Her skin is still a mess although her eyes are so much less red...that eye ointment is a life-saver! We did another oatmeal bath tonight...too bad she can't just lay down and soak in it, but better than not doing it at all, right? Her allergist said we could try to increase her zyrtec to avoid having to give benadryl too, but it didn't seem to work very well today. So, tomorrow we'll try the combination again and hope for better results...it is not helping that it's literally 90 degrees and extremely humid out. Thank God for a/c or I'd die! |

Hello there!! DDT-sounds like the transition from one to two is going well for you so far. My dh never wanted a minivan nor did I for that matter but the truth of it all though its so much more practical. I love my van so much space to move around in. DB-ouch that bitting sounds painful. Thats cute though that Audrey brings your shoes to you guys my middle one used to do that when it was time to go somewhere but now he just runs away and hides. mamagoose-are you taking prenatal vitamins? When I was pregnant with Alexia I had to stop taking mine they were the cause for my morning sickness, Apparently the coloring in them causes alot of women to have that problem. Justine1-Nick and Sophie sound so adorable. It may take awhile for NIck to get used to daycare but then he should be fine. Im afraid of what its going to be like to send Alexia back to daycare now. She doesnt like strangers either. I brought he to my gym daycare while I was working out the other day for only an hour just to get her used to it again. She was fine till the kids cae close to her then she spent the whole time crying. So im just going to have to keep on her she is going to have to go back in September. Well, gotta go. |

DB- yeah, this Phoenix heat is no joke here, but it's monsoon season so it's hot AND rainy. Sorry to hear about Audrey's eczema & allergies, that can't be fun for you or her. Justine - lol, we must have different cars because the name of yours sounded like a drink or something (: DDT - yuck, I hate rain. Or I should say I hate having to go outside in it. |

Hi everyone. DDT - Hope things are going well with the two little ones. DB - Second labours are normally much shorter than first ones. Sophie took 3 days whereas Nick was 5 hours - it was so much easier and I had no pain or anything afterwards. Sorry Audrey is biting. Its quite common at this age for them to laugh at No and sometimes you have to say No very firmly/loudly for them to get the message that you mean it. Mine can normally be easily distracted onto something else by saying No biting, kissing/cuddling etc - they seem to quite like being able to do something right. Our daycare is 3 to 1 for both Sophie and Nick which is good but they are in rooms of about 15 with 5 staff so its quite loud with 15 kids running around. You probably also don't notice what someone else's kid is doing like you would with you own. It could also be he just watches there and comes home and says things - they said he just sits and watches the older children a lot. Quite a lot of what he says must come from there though like "Ta", "Here You Are" and "He did it - hooray" as we don't say those here. He also keeps banging his bottle against Sophie's drink and saying Cheers - don't know who taught him that - Sophie says she did! Thats great Audrey is talking more. Nick's just started bringing my shoes as well and he tries to lift my feet to put them on my feet. Today he brought my shoes to me then went to the front door and started rattling it as he wanted a walk! Amanda - I'ld imagine Alexia will settle in daycare after a week or so, my nursery said thats what normally happens. Its hard when they cry though. I'm lucky that Sophie immediately loved it - she asks to go there in the evenings and weekends - its so much more exciting than being with us - lol. Nick's never really cried apart from the first trial session and half the second trial session. I think daycare can do them good if they're shy as its good to get them less shy now before they go to school. RMC - I saw on another thread you're getting married soon - congratulations! Hope the preparation is going well. I guessed we have different cars here - I've never been to the US so I never know exactly whats different/the same. |

dedaa-yeah, I'm sure she'll get used it daycare. I thinik that is the only good thing about us starting daycare when Audrey was 4 or 5 months old...she was too young to realize, then she got used to it...she is starting to get more clingy at times when I drop her off, but she has a blast there!! I love when I pick her up and she runs to me...it's such a good feeling!! RMC-ugh, 92 and humid as heck here today! I HATE humidity!! Justine-yeah, I bet there are much different cars here! We have Ford's, Chevy, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, etc. I'm a fan of "foreign" cars, ie, Nissan, Honda, etc. They seem to run forever. I'm still trying to convince dh to get us a minivan! We shall see...we're supposed to "talk" tonight..I'm sure he'll blow me off for the tv though! Not much new here. Audrey's skin is slightly improved. She is literally shiny when she gets into her jammies since she has so much Aquaphor on! Yuck! I have to change her sheets like every other day. Ok, time to go get dh to talk cars. |

DB - I don't think we have minivans here. We have vans for business use but they only have 2 seats so that can't be the same. We have minibuses with about 12 seats in but thats for like a school trip. Almost all our cars are foreign here as all the English firms went bankrupt. We have Ford, Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen (German), Citroen (French), Jaguar etc. People with big families here tend to have what we call people carriers (imaginative name!) which seat about 8. Our car just has 5 seats but its good because they are big seats which you need for the car seats. Of course as DH is French we always have to have a French car. I hope you get the car/van you want. DH bought a classic car as a wreck to restore a while back (in all the spare time we don't have!) and proudly showed it to Sophie expecting her to be delighted - its a male thing. But Sophie took one look at the wreck he'ld bought and nearly started crying as she thought he was swapping our car for this wreck - she just pointed and said No, No Papa I want blue car (our normal car). Is anyone else LO climbing like crazy? Its like living with monkeys at our house! Nick's always been in to furniture moving and today he got the seat from his highchair - it separates off pushed it to our dining table, climbed on that chair to climb on another chair to climb on the dining table. He always climbing the sofa/couch to get to the phone too. He managed to call the police the other day - we only knew when they called back - oops! Sophie likes holding Nick's hand while he walks down town now - its cute - today she was walking with Nick holding Nick's hand and holding her teddy bears paw and she got me to hold the teddy's other paw. She loves it when Nick talks and either says Nick said so-and-so or says Nick what are you saying as if he must be saying something of great importance! |

Justine - thats so funny we call them minivans (which I have & love) and you guys call them people carriers. Thanks for the congratulations, I have exactly one week to go! DB - 100 and hot as heck today, whew! I wish I had the energy to take 5 kids to the pool! Lol |

Hey everyone, quick check-in before my 6:30pm bedtime (1st trimester exhaustion + 3:15am wake up time, rough combination...) I have my first pre-natal appt on Monday, I'll be 9 weeks. My morning sickness has been getting better, I only seem to get it right after I get up in the morning, and if I haven't eaten in 2-3 hours. Just for fun, I bought one of those Intelligender tests that is supposed to predict the baby's gender from a urine test. You do it after 10 weeks, and if it turns orange it's a girl, green means boy. They're supposedly 90% accurate, so lots of room for error (I won't be painting blue or pink based on it!) but I thought it would be kind of fun to do, and you're only pregnant a few times in your life! It should get here this week (I ordered on Ebay), and then I'll test the week after that. Dh took Tyler to our local science museum for kids today while I was at work, but Tyler was so overwhelmed he spent the whole time clinging to him and he wouldn't let go! Too many flashing lights and loud noises and people, we guess. OK I'm off to bed, tomorrow is my Friday so I'll finally get a chance to relax starting Monday! |

Hello there! Justine and DB im sure she will get used to it again. She did really the first time around with it. then again the sitter had only one other child there so it was alot less stress for her. So once she gets used to being around all the other kids she should do just fine. It would be alot easier if Isaac would stay close to her to put her at ease but when he gets there he wants nothing to do with her. mamagoose-I did some stupid predictor online that I found it was just a test that you do online if they are wrong you get your money back it was 13$. They guessed girl for me so they were right. Its funny though the extent you will go when you are pregnant just to have a clue. So I just came back from shopping by myself with all three kids it was funny but it was hell. My oldest son just kept asking me to have another baby the whole time we were gone. Isaac was squishing everything I would put in the cart or try open it. then I have Alexia who is trying to eat everything. The poor little girl is getting every single molar top and bottom at the same time. It was not fun at all! |
