How To Wean Off The Bottle? Suggestions?

DS just turned a year last Friday. How do I wean him off the bottle...or to fewer bottles. He takes 35-40 oz daily!!! He has 4 bottles a day. He's not into the baby food as much now. He would rather feed himself finger food...He would eat puffs and crackers all day if I'd let him. I have him on a sippy....but he'll take a few drinks and play with it or bite it mostly. He really likes the bottle! I knew he was hungry last night and tried to give him peas....and he screamed and shoved them away. He took like two bites. I gave him a bottle and he drank 11 oz!!! UGH. Any advice?

Audrey was sorta like that. She'd hold out til she got a bottle, well I just went cold turkey one day and she began to chug her milk out of a cup (Nuby cup)...and so that was how we made the switch! I think she likes the Nuby cups since it's a silicone spout. She refuses all other sippy's. It's amazing how fast she can slam a cup of milk! As for the solid foods...hmm....Audrey is all about self-feeding and after she got her tubes she just began eating tons and tons. I don' t know!?! Hope that helps a little!

Hiya,
Yeah I agree how about going cold turkey, I know you will feel like your being cruel but if hes hungry he'll take his milk from a cup eventually. Yeah the the nuby is better. its not far from a bottle teat but STILL a cup!! hooray. Luckily my dd did it all by herself and just refused the bottle (as well as milk) point blank at about 11mths. Also my dd loves finger food and has been self feeding since she was 9 months - god they can be so independent - she just loves peas an anything veggie, but peas seem to be her fav
DB what are tubes??
