Helloo..I have a question, My son is 11 mo old, 12 mo on july 18. What method of dicipline are appropriate for a child so young. I try to redirect, but it never works. He understands "no", but he just shakes his head no at me and continues what he is doing. Any ideas are appriciated!! |

Hey Deb! My Carlie's first bday is in 20 days! Morgan's 9th bday was today. Time has flown by soooo fast! I swear it was such a short time ago and we were celebrating Morgan's first bday!! I'm glad you started a new thread. Hi letgo! As far as discipline goes, if it's a really serious thing they're doing, like playing with an outlet, or the stove, then I say no very sternly and give her my mommy look. I have patted her bottom while moving her away from the offending site just to make my point even stronger. Really your best bet at this age is consistency, redirection, and being one step ahead of them at all times. You have to keep things that can get them into "trouble" out of their reach so there's no temptation. They are just beginning to understand no and if you're not consistent then they won't get it. I also reccommend LOADS of patience. But that goes not only for now, but for the next 20 years. LOL! :O} |

ps, I can't believe that Carlie is a toddler! She's walking all over the place, and I swear she's trying to run! :O} |

letgo...i dont think there is any way of discipling them at this age. have you tryed to maybe pretend to cry if he hurts you, or redirect his attention? thats about all you can do for this age. sry girls, i havent been on for a while, ive just stopped in over from (sin) cafemom. william is walking now (11 months) yay! lots of fun :) you can check out his wesite for more info or if your bored williamyr1.piczo.com password: ddw what is everyone doing for their lo's first bdays? sry i hope your not all going to be repeating your selves from a previous chat... |

I have tried to redirect but it doesn't really work, he'll just go back over to what he was doing. I know he's too young for time outs or anything, so I guess I'll just wing it til he gets older and can understand better. It's tough when they're this age. |

we are going to have it at a local community farm. that way, ds and the other kids can pat and feed the animals, ride the ponies and have abit of fun while all the adults eat bbq and just have a chat. weve decided not to do any theme, it just seems like extra usless work and i cant be bothered for a first birthday he wont remember anyway! i figure the community farm is better than a park because we all have shelter in the barn party room and the kids are entertained. ds is only 2 days older than your ds, july 16th! good luck with your lo :) |

Hi guys, its Heidi's 11 month bday tomorrow! yippee. Hi Dee 23 thanks for the reply on my "Eggs" post over there. I will check out your piczo after this, i bet WIll is even cuter now! Heidi hasnt really walked much more, i think she is lazy cos i know she can do it, she has walked to Daddy a couple of times but only once to me :( LETGo i dont think there is much you can do as far as discipline just yet- They say at this age "no" means "pause for a second then try again" so that definately rings true for Heidi. Although she has learned not to totally destroy everything in sight nowadays she just gives things a little finger poke then moves onto the next thing. I think her back teeth are starting to come thru now, she is very wingey today and chewing her fingers! Yesterday she picked her nose then put it in her mouth - it was totally unintentional of course but it was still very funny :) Have you noticed your lo's are getting bored more easily as they grow up? Heidi seems to be bored with her old toys and nothing keeps her attention for long.....????? Well will drop into everyones piczos now. Check out Heidis new page. (cherubcheeks) |

I'm going to cry! Last year I was anxious for the baby to come and now I'm chasing her around!! Boo Hoo!! We have a toddler park that is a memorial for a little girl who was killed in Ga last year. Her name was Avery King. She was 2 at the time. They were there visiting her mom's sister. A man ran over her, her mom who was pregnant, and her aunt and 2 cousins. He hit them then backed up and hit her again. It was AWFUL! He was mentally ill obviously. Anyway, now we have the toddler park as her memorial. Since Carlie was born not long after Avery died, I think it would be nice to have her party there. And I don't think I'm going to have a theme. Just her own cake to smash, and lot's of video tape. :O} |

I'm such a loser! I forgot that I started a new thread over here!!!! I kept checking the post on the other thread and saw that it hadn't been bumped up in a while and so today I was going to bump it and I read that I was starting a new post! I guess that placenta brain really doesn't go away for a while! DUH! Anyway, things are great here...1 week until Carly and Hailey's b-days. We're having a bbq too. We're not even really going crazy for her birthday. Just a small gathering with mostly family and a couple of close friends. One of my good friends just lost her baby yesterday at 4.5 months. I don't even know what happened as she is not ready to share the details. I just feel so sad for her. It took her 2.5 years to get pregnant the first time (Tanner - 21 months) and this time she got pregnant without trying! She was so excited and had just recently spread her good news. I sent her some flowers, but I know there is nothing I can do to take her pain away. I guess I just have to let her know that I am here supporting her. Very sad indeed. |
