BRITT- Wow! I truly know how scary that can be. I went through preterm labor with both Connor and Samantha. I was finally put on bedrest after several trips to the l%d. I was on terbutaline and procardia to stop contractions as well as constant monitoring and measuring of my cervix. My best advice for you is TAKE IT EASY! Stress and running around will definitely set things in motion. Walking is a big culprit because of gravity. Both of those babies sat very low and the constant pressure on a weakened cervix will definitely irritate and start contractions. So, SLOW DOWN! Enlist any and all help you can find. As for grocery shopping with all the kids. You have to be tricky! I take lots of snacks and make the older two help with getting things off the shelves while Samantha sits in the seat and Connor usually drives the "car" part. You manage and do the best you can. People always look and people always have something to say when one of the kids is loud or crying, but I ignore it because I know it only lasts for about 5 minutes and then they forget what they were crying for in the first place. Let us know how things go and again RELAX!

britt_m - August 1st, 2008 4:52 PM

It happens all day but theres a few times where they're closer together and laying down for a while and drinking water doesn't work. Its very hard to relax, especially as now everythings on me, groceries, bills, laundry, meals, etc. Ugh I'm just bumming cause he left today. I'm turning off cable today so thats a bummer, I am keeping the internet, I'd go nuts! We have lots of movies tho but I really feel guilty as I like to keep Lexi busy. MOMTBC - I don't know how you did it with both babies! I luckily wasn't given anything they're just keeping an eye for now. I'm 28 weeks last Wed. I'm going to my last reflexology class tonight, its going to be totally relaxing and I spoke with the school and dropped the rest of my classes til after I have the baby. I have Alexea signed up in a daycare just while DH is gone. I had met with her before and Alexea just got down and totally loved it and didn't want to leave so I'm not too worried about it this time, a lot more comfortable. But since I dropped my classes it'll only be for tonight.

MOMTBC- I HATE when people are no understanding and give you dirty looks because of your kids, it's only happened once to me with Jo (that I know of) but I can't stand it even when it happens to other people, that's one thing that like really bothers me and I'm sure with time I'll be able to learn to just brush it off like you do but it just irritates me, especially when they were once mothers as well. BRITT- It happens all day? geeez, I really wish (as I'm sure you do too) that your husband was home more often so he could help you out, I wouldn't be able to do what you're doing without any help. How many extra kids are you watching these days? Definitely a good idea dropping your classes until the baby is born, you need to take it easy whenever you find the time. I have to give you props because I wouldn't be able to handle it, and you seem to so well. All of you girls are just so much more patient than me (hence my name.. which I originally made because I was so impatient about being pregnant and I just wanted to meet my baby so bad) I know I need to work on it but I never seem to be able to change.

GURINSA- I'm dying to know how Kaitlyn is!

gurinsa - August 3rd, 2008 10:11 AM

Hi guys. Well we're back. Kaitlyn was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday night because she could not breath. It has been the worst four days of her life (and ours). We waited 4 hours in the ER wed. night until they finally admitted us at 12:30am. She was screaming and screaming and didn't sleep the entire night. And her crying and screaming made it harder for her to breathe. She finally worked herself up so much that she vomited (more than I have ever seen) and then they gave her an IV. She screamed all the way through that (they wouldn't let us in the room) and couldn't find a vein so finally they put it in her foot all taped up with this board thingy to keep it straight. She wouldn't calm down so like an hour later - I look at her foot and its SWOLLEM! It was killing her!! They rushed in and took out the IV. She tested positive for an influenza virus that was causing croup. They also found a narrowing of her trachea during a chest xray. We were isolated in the hospital room!!! We couldn't leave the room cause she was contagious!!! Can you imagine keeping a 1 year old in 1 room for 3 days?? Guys - it has been horrible....AND WE ARE SUPPOSED to go to California Friday. I don't know if we will be able to go. Right now, its 50/50.....

gurinsa - August 3rd, 2008 10:14 AM

But fortunately she doesn't have anything that is serious or long term. We saw so many sick kids while we were in the hospital. Like terminally sick and it was so sad. So we are very grateful that she is "healthy"..what an ordeal...momtb..I love that dream story!! Maybe that means I'll get pregnant soon (we've been trying for 4 months) although after this, not sure if I can do it again with another baby :(

gurinsa - August 3rd, 2008 10:15 AM

oh and 1 more thing..my husband and I now have the virus....AHHHHH!!!!!

ImpatientMommy - August 3rd, 2008 10:29 AM

OH MY GOD GURINSA! I seriously teared up when I read that. I can't believe she had to go through all that! I'm so sorry you and your husband and ofcourse Kaitlyn had to experience that, how horrible. That poor little baby =( I'm just so sorry. Ofcourse you're lucky when you compare Kaitlyn to terminally ill children, it always breaks my heart when I see kids like that at the hospital but still, it breaks my heart hearing your story too. I wouldn't be able to handle being in the room while all that went on I'd be crying hysterically. Is she still in the hospital or are you guys at home? Today's Sunday so you guys have a little while to recover before Friday, hopefully you guys will be in full health and able to go on a nice vacation and relax and have a good time. You are definitely in my prayers! Keep us updated.

Well yesterday was an interesting day. Jo is DEFINITELY teething but I still can't feel any teeth popping through. I got her to hold off on her 1st nap until noon which is insane because usually she can't last a second past 11:30. She slept for an hour and 15 minutes. Then she woke up and was so/so all day and we took her to the playground and she was just a grouch the whole time and then started crying out of no where so we took her home and she was crying on and off and finally at 4 I was like that's it, I'm putting her down for a 2nd nap because I'm not dealing with this for the next 3 1/2 hours, I don't think she could have lasted. So I put her down and she sleeps maybe an hour, I didn't time it, and then right after her nap she was so pitiful, she was just laying on top of me with her head down whimpering. Something was DEFINITELY bothering her. But then she got better and got a second wind haha and she was happy and what not, I knew she was going to be up later tha usual but I tried to put her to bed at 8:15 and I rocked her for a HALF HOUR and she was on the brink of sleep the whole time and finally I was like that's it, so I let her stay up but she just layed on the floor, finally a little past 9 I tried to put her down again and it took me 15 minutes to get her asleep but yeah this is why I don't like to give her a 2nd nap... maybe it was just because her 2nd nap was so late. Oh well! We leave for vacation tomorrow!!! I don't know if I'm going to have internet or there but we'll see... so that's where I'll be if I start missing tomorrow haha

britt_m - August 3rd, 2008 11:30 AM

GURINSA - Wow, you guys have got it tough! I hope you all get better soon, how scary. I hope you get better before your vacation Friday, CA is a excellant place to vacation (just not live, haha.) I'll send some baby dust your way! If you get to go on vacation maybe that'll be your lucky time!! IMP - I hope you have a great vacation tomorrow!! Enjoy yourself! Things are going alright here, nothing has changed as far as contracting is going. It is scary as I don't want to run to the hospital everytime one of those contraction bursts happen, but then you can never be too careful. I have to call to get an appt next week with the midwife to check my cervix and I'm sooo nervous as I'm think that sharp pain in the cervix is it opening. I really wish things would just stop altogether or at least until he gets home. Oh Thursday was the last day watching that little boy and the girl hasn't showed in a week and a half.

ImpatientMommy - August 3rd, 2008 12:00 PM

That's good that you don't have to watch those kids anymore, it's going to be a huge relief and your days will be a lot less stressful I'm sure, atleast you'll get to rest a little bit more, I hope! I can't imagine being pregnant and having to be with Jo all day alone never mind while I'm contracting early. I hope this all stops soon because you're only 30 weeks right? that baby needs to stay in there for atleast another 7 weeks and that's a pretty good amount of time. Isn't there anything they can give you to stop the contracting? I forget if you said anything about that.

britt_m - August 3rd, 2008 4:50 PM

Imp - I was having 5 an hour at the hospital with little ones in between. The 5 were pretty hard and long so I don't know why they didn't give me anything to stop them. I'm only 28 and 4 days. I had to get easy ups and milk and stopped at the hair cut place right next to the grocery store. I got a quick hair cut, : ), I feel so purdy! Now its movie and nap time for us. Is anyone else down to one nap a day. Shes been bouncing between one and two naps a day and when she does have one shes a little cranky at times but it seems to be getting better. I think instead of fighting with it, I'll just lay her down after lunch, so its kinda right between her naps.

ImpatientMommy - August 3rd, 2008 8:08 PM

Jo's been down to one nap a day for a looooooooooong time, too long haha

ImpatientMommy - August 3rd, 2008 10:48 PM

momtbc - August 4th, 2008 10:40 AM

Whew! What a weekend. We had Blake's birthday party on Saturday, my fil's bday party on Sunday and now we are trying to recover and clean up to get ready for a big combine family party on Saturday, then a night out for our anniversary on Sat. night. August flies by for us, so hopefully we can slow down for a little while before school starts! BRITT- I am surprised they let you leave the hospital without something to settle the contractions. Did they just slow down or stop or did they let you leave contracting? My doctor would never let me leave the hospital until I had gone for at least 2 straight hours with little to no contracting and even then I was on meds to stop the contractions. I hope that the destressing helps you and you make it ALL THE WAY! GURINSA- OH MY GOODNESS! I don't know how I would handle that. You are very brave! I hope Kaitlyn is doing better soon and you and your husband as well. IMPATIENT- Have fun on your trip! I will be posting on the blog some time today with lots of new pics from the last week. I've been so busy I haven't had time to post!

ImpatientMommy - August 4th, 2008 2:03 PM

YAAAAY! I GET THE INTERNET IN OUR HOTEL ROOM! haha I'm such a nerd but I'm so glad I can post on here and now I can update the blog too! I'm going to update it tonight with the first days pictures! MOMTBC- Definitely sounds like you guys are busy! August is REALLY busy for me too, actually just the first part of August but I have something going on like EVERY day for the first 15 days. You're ALWAYS busy though haha.

pebblesnbambam - August 4th, 2008 2:11 PM

Hey all.. sounds like it has been tough time for many of you. Imp.. have a great vacation!!! Momtbc... sounds like you have had a GREAT BUSY weekend!!! MONTH... life... hehe. As busy as I am in a day now I think about you. As we speak I am playing peek a boo wiht Jenna and Jackson is sleeping. We are hitting the pool later today... and working on our under the sea project. That is our project of the week... It is wonderful being home with the kids... we have had a busy day but nothing like trying to get them out of the house at 7:30!! Still got up and exercised and got myself ready... I guess I plan on doing that everyday... Made some gluten free bread.. HEAVENLY!!!!!!!! ok.. back to peek a bo!!! Please take it easy Britt..... I had preterm labor.. nothing to mess with. I had many medications as well so maybe a good sign that you don't have to have anything. Just take it easy. At 30 weeks with my son the doctor said that we were in decent shape... Ended up going to 39 weeks!!!
