Anyone here suffer with migraines? They're the pits. I've had one for 2 days now, but I have a new symptom I've not experienced yet. The right side of my face is numb and tonight my right arm is too. But not numb like you can't feel it, more like after you get dental work done and the feeling starts to come back. It's really a weird sensation. I just don't know if I should freak out or not....

I personally have not expeirenced them myself, but I have taken care of patients who were admitted and had to stay for a couple of nights in the hospital because the pain was so SEVERE. I have not heard of anyone who has complained of the numbness sensation. I agree, from what I have seen taking care of patients with migraines, it does seem like the pits. Do you see your family physician for this? I would give them a call to see what they think about it.

Thank you. I think I will tomorrow. It's late tonight and I'm exhausted from fighting this thing all day. The pain can be terribly severe! I've never been hospitilized thank God, but the worst one I've ever had lasted 5 days. This one's only been 2 so far. :O}

I get them and they are horrible. I hope you are feeling better by now. Are all your other symptoms the same besides the numbness? I only ask because when I had lyme diease it appeared to be a migraine only it lasted much longer and I did not get the aura or light sensitivity I usually get. So it took much longer to diagnose since I automatically assumed it was a migraine. If your migraine medication usually work and is now not working, it could be a sign that it is not a migraine and you should get it checked out. I did have numbness with a migrane one time and I was pretty freaked too since it was an unusual symptom for me. It did go away and is one of the more typical symptoms so it could just be a weird migraine. Just make sure all the other usual characteristics of your migraines are similar to how they normally are.

I get them, so i know what you are going through. Have you tried going to a chiropracter, this helped me.

Chrio made mine worse. I also get some numbness, due to a pinched nerve in my neck. Massage usually helps me a lot.

Hey Cyndi... how are you feeling today? Has it gotten any better? I finally went to the doc for my dizziness yesterday because I had it for 5 hours... from 3am-8am, was vomiting and couldn't shake it.... poor dh even had to take an unpaid day off of work to drive me around because I didn't feel safe driving, plus taking all 3 kids with me would have certainly only aggravated the situation LOL. Today I feel soooo much better. I hope that yours has gone away!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh... and just in case they would want to give you an Imitrex injection... a warning!!!! I had one at the doctor's yesterday and it made my entire scalp BURN. It was awful... and didnt help the dizzines and nausea one bit! I don't know whether or not it would have helped if I had had the throbbing, painful type migraine, but I'm not even sure it would be worth it... I think the cringing from the burning would have just worsened my migraine!

Thank you for asking Tammy! I'm feeling much better today. I spent yesterday being easy on myself so I didn't make it come back. LOL! Last night I felt it coming back so I took more Excedrin Migraine and this morning I'm fine. I'm going to talk to my dr next time I see her. I've done some research and there is a type of migraine that has numbness sometimes. I used to take Imitrex but it makes me feel wierd. Like the muscles in my head are continually tightened up. I hated the feeling so I stopped taking it. My mother has had a headache with dizziness and vomiting for almost 2 weeks now. I had to call an ambulance to take her to the er last weekend (she couldn't even sit up!) and they said she had an infection in her sinuses (not a sinus infection). She's been taking antibiotics but she's not feeling completely better yet. What's up with all these headaches and wierd symptoms????

Cindi, I get them really intensely...I also get aura...which is what it sounds like you were having. Not all migraines come with aura...but some do. Since migraines are neurological, some people get nerological symptoms withs them. I would see a nerologist to rule out anything else...but, if I were to guess, that is what they will tell you. GL!

i suffer from migraines, I usually get about 1 or 2 a month. I will have other headaches, but I know the difference between just a headache and the dreaded migraine. I have had to take a certain kind of medicine for other problems, so the doctor will only give me lortab and phenergan. Both work well together, but usually have to take a few doses. I have only had the numbing sensation once, which freaked me out, so I went to the ER. They just told me that it was part of the migraine, and if it did not stop to check with my doctor. After the headache stoped the numbness did to.

migraines are the worst..i always seem to get one just before my period.ive had the slight numbness on one side of the face and radiating to behind the ears..its the most rotten and debilitating thing..my eyes always go funny throughout the whole migraine and when it goes i feel so wiped out the next day .glad your feeling a little better.

shelly - July 27th, 2007 8:43 PM

CyndiG - July 28th, 2007 9:29 PM

LOL Shelly! I am feeling better. Actually that migraine went away and I've had another. But it's better now too. Thanks girls. It's good to hear from others that they've had the same symptoms and I don't have a brain tumor or something. :O}
