My DD is 18 months old. She's on a pretty decent schedule, but I'm concerned about her naps. She wakes up between 7-7:30 and we lay down for a nap at 10:45 and she's usually asleep by 11. I wake her up at 12. For some reason, even waking her up 15 min later throws off her whole bedtime routine. And what takes 15 min turns into 45. She lays down at 7:45pm and is usually asleep at 8. It averages about 13 or so hours. Does it sound like she's getting enough sleep? What types of schedule are your toddlers on?

My ds1 is 24 months old and is up for the day between 6-6:30am, naps at about 12pm for 2-2.5 hrs and goes to bed between 7-7:30pm. When he was 18 months old he had the same schedule but tended to sleep longer in the morning (till about 7am). Your lo's schedule sounds fine. She is sleeping for a solid chunk at night. Her nap may be on the short side but some toddlers don't need as much sleep as others. But you say you wake her from her nap. Why? I would try and let her sleep for as long as she wants for her naptime, and then push her bedtime to 8:30pm if she won't go down at her usual 7:45pm. How is her mood during the day on 1hr of nap sleep?

I wake her so she'll sleep at night and go to bed at 8. She seems fine during the day, she goes through 1 or 2 spurts where she wants to lay down. It's hard because I think she's fine but I'm completely serious that an extra 15 min of sleep throws off her bedtime routine atleast 30 min not to mention her schedule the rest of the day is out of whack. It's just crazy to me that kids are taking 2 or 3 hour naps and not going to bed until 10! That would never happen! I just feel that's so late for a toddler to be awake. I hope I'm making sense, I just want to make sure she's getting enough sleep for her little body you know?

My DD is 19 months and she goes to bed 7:30 till 7am. Naps 12ish for 2-3hours. We changed her to one nap around 15months becuase she wouldnt sleep good at night and her naps were short. If DD doesnt get enought nap time she has a bad night, or at least not a solid sleep. And she gets cranky. I hope this helps. If you DD seems happy and isnt cranky then she must be getting the sleep she needs.

DD is 17 months. She wakes up in the morning around 8am, naps from 1pm to about 4pm (anywhere from a 2 hour to a 3 1/2 hour nap, but usually between 2.5 and 3h), then is back in to sleep around 7:30 or 8. If she sleeps a bit later in the afternoon we just start bedtime a bit later in the evening. I believe in having a routine, but not a schedule, and that's worked out very well for us.

13 hours is probably alright sleep. Sometimes dd goes through periods of sleeping less and some weeks it is more. At night she usually sleeps 9-12 hours and for naps it can be 0-2 hours!

My dd would go to bed at 7pm and wake up at 7-8am with a nap from 1-3:30pm. Approximately. She wasn't taking a second nap at all at 18 months and I can't quite remember when she dropped it. I would think you'd want her to start her nap at a later time pretty soon or you could be in danger of losing her nap schedule completely as she gets older. But..every kid is different and if she's fine-great. I think it's more typical to have a nap closer to the 12:30-1pm time at that age and then the 7-8pm bed time. That way she can sleep longer, not miss a meal (lunchtime) and get all the rest she needs.

My now almost 18 mo. old went down to one nap a day at about eleven months. He gets up around 7am, naps from 1-3pm and goes to bed at 7pm. He's pretty consistant with this. We'll see how we do with the time change this weekend :-)

Hey, my dd is a Aug 07 baby too! She's 18 months and she wakes by 7:30am and has her nap about 1:30. Her nap usually last 2 hours sometimes it is a bit longer and sometimes it is a bit shorter she is asleep for bed by 9:00. I have always let my babies sleep until they woke up from thier naps. I am like Malica, and we have a routine not a schedule, so if her nap throws off her bedtime it isn't too much of a big deal for us, we just move bedtime up a little. When was your dd born? My dd was born Aug 16th.

My daughter is 20 months. She goes to bed at 9pm and gets up usually between 9-930am. She goes down for a nap from 2-430.
