My daughter had a UTI about 2 weeks ago. We treated with antibiotics for a week. Then, we went back in and gave another sample. We were told it was all gone and could stop the antibiotics. It's back already and she was placed again on antibiotics. The doctor wants her to go to a nearby children's hospital for an ultrasound of her urinary tract (kidneys). She is 28-29 months old and still in diapers. We have started to potty train her, but we aren't nearly finished yet. Anyone else experience this? Anyone had to have ultrasounds done?

My dd has had a kidney infection when she was 8 months. I had lots of trouble with my kidneys when pregnant so I was concerned that it could be related. Well this prompted me to do a little research online. And apparently it is sort of routine to do more test if a young girl has a UTI because it can be a issue with their urinary tract not being long enough. My dd's Dr. told me it was unneccesary as long as it isn't recurrant. So I am sure they are just wanting to make sure all looks normal because it has recurred.

My son (now 29 months) had recurring utis when he was an infant. He had problems with his ureter. He had a few ultrasounds done, the last one was in march or maybe April (everything blends). Not to scare you and it could just be my son, but the ultrasound was horrible. It obviously didn't hurt him, but he didn't like being held down and having the jelly stuff put on him. It also took a while. I went by myself which was a huge mistake. I would have brough my grammy with my had I know how horrible he would be. By the way, most kids outgrow any problems and my son was cleared by the doctor at our last visit.
