I took my thirteen month old to get his flu shot last Wednesday. He was a little fussy that day and Thursday morning, and then his temperature shot up Thursday night. He got up to 103.6 and was miserable. He would fall asleep on my lap for a little while, but then wake up and cry. By Friday morning his temperature returned to normal and he has been his normal happy self ever since. I was just wondering if anyone else had this weird reaction to the flu shot. He is due for his second dose in four weeks and I am not sure I want to go through this again.

Hmmmm, that sounds awful. My ds had his flu shot about 4 weeks ago...along with 4 other vaccines and had no problems. He goes back for his 2nd dose this week.
It sounds like he may have had a bit of a reaction to the shot. Does your pedi know about it? What does he/she say? If not, I would call him/her and let them know and see what they say before you take him back. I don't blame ya for not wanting to go through that twice. GL!

Our pedi told us to watch for a fever spike about 7-10 days post shot. He said it was pretty commonplace....so since your little guy's temp went back down...just call the pedi to make sure it's alright to take him back. I will have to do the same thing.
