for my now 1 year old,she turned one december 1st. i have a good feeling i am going to go over budget, but when i really think about it, i know that i shouldn't spend a ton because she is only one,she won't remember it and she seems to rather play with boxes half the time. i am thinking of getting something maybe around $50 for her santa gift, but i just don't know what she would like the most. Some of my ideas are a baby she can carry around, i think it'd be cute if one came with a sling carrier thing to. or a water/sandbox, one of those pushcars with the roof, playkitchen or something like that. What has everyones little ones liked most at this age? any suggestions? thanks!!

Two of my daughter's favourite toys (she's now 15 months, but she's had these for about 3 months now and is still playing with them) are the Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn car -- it's a walker that will convert to a sit-on car when she's a bit bigger. There's a number of lights and sounds (and an off switch for when mom has a headache). If you've got the room for her to use something like, our daughter loves it.

The other type of toy she's getting a lot of use out of are vehicles that she can push around that you can put toys in to. She's got a Little People Bus that has a couple of doors on the sides that open and no roof so she can put the people (and just about everything else) in. She also has another Bus, I don't know the make, but it has a shape-sorter on top and other little activities. She loves pushing both of them around and putting stuff inside and taking it out. This sort of toy would be more in the $20-30 range too.

I hear you about trying to set a limit on shopping. We haven't gotten her new toys in a few months (since her birthday -- we're still circulating through those toys), and between grand parents and friends she's already going to get way too many toys. But then when I see the classic toys I remember from when I was a kid (like the Fisher Price cash register), I can't resist. :)

When my daughter turned one she really wasn't interested in much, honestly. The ONE present that she adored (and still adores at almost 2) is the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Kitchen. It's expensive, but sooo worth it. I don't think you can go wrong with most of the Laugh & Learn items, honestly. She's loved every single one of them.

Little tub toys (ducks, floating things and wind-up swimmers) were a hit at that time, too. She was just getting started in the bigger tub and loved to splash and play.

My neice had a little xylophone with a mallet that my daughter absolutely loved. They have a little band kit made by Parents brand that had a drum and tamborine and other things that she also liked. Good luck!

Maybe i can just get away with even getting her something around $30,lol.

My 22 month olds FAVORITE present from his first bday was a fisher price turtle sandbox and a big bag of colored balls. It was like a ball pit, but the dog couldnt pop it like an inflatable one. Then during the summer we used it as a swimming pool.... he still loves it! Good luck (and by the way this is about $35)

We got ds the twilight turtle by cloud b (you can find it on amazon) for his b-day in september. It is the best gift ever!! We used to put it on the floor in his room at night , but now just put it with him in his crib. He absolutely adores it. His cousins were over for Thanksgiving (ranging in age from 3-9) and tried to steal it. I really believe this is something that will last him for years and it's the cutest thing ever.

thanks everyone! i was actually looking at a canadian tire flyer and found a dora inflatable ballroom with balls, kind of like what starlight talked about. the best part was that it was on for half price!!Normally $40,got it for 20. Awsome. It says it is for ages 3 years plus, but personally i don't pay too much attention to the ages on stuff, i know it's probably not good, but i am usually watching her a lot of the time anyways.
