My ds went through the same phase at that age. Like you if we tried to soothe him he just got more worked up. We ended up just letting him CIO. We did the bath, jammies, book, say "Okay, it's night-night, get your blankie & teddy", switch off the lights, kiss, put him in his crib and leave the room. He would scream/cry for 10-15 mins max and then fall asleep. I would suggest controlled CIO. Do your regular bedtime routine and then leave the room. Give it 2-5 mins before you go in again to soothe her. Repeat as necessary. Eventually she will go to sleep. I don't think it lasted very long at all once we started doing CIO. |

She couldn't be teething could she? Sometimes they do this because they are teething and then I'ld just give teething gel or if its really bad paracetamol for babies. We tend to get ours to go to sleep then transfer them asleep into the crib - my youngest (19m) likes his back rubbed and likes to have his head next to mine or on my stomach with us cuddling each other then he goes to sleep pretty quickly, you wait 5 mins then transfer him. We've never done CIO, never wanted to but thats another way and ours often do wake up a few times a night so there may be something in it. |

Hey Cathy! Good to hear you and baby are doing well! My dd also goes through stages where she'll fight going to sleep. I don't like the CIO method, so I take her in and try, then I wait a couple of minutes to see if she'll settle down. If not I go back in, grab her, and start over with the routine which for us is bottle, bink, bed. I try to give enough time that she can settle down a bit before we go for it again. Usually by the second or sometimes the third time she's calm enough to get to sleep. Hopefully she's just going through a stage and soon she'll be back to her easygoing bedtime self! |
