Hey Jazminesmom! My son will be 3 in November and he has been fully potty trained for about 2 months (with no accidents). We used the "3 day method" more or less. I kind of ad libbed a few things to fit us better but it worked! All kids are different so I am sure it's different for everyone but I have it on my email and I would be happy to send it your way if you are interested! Goodluck! |

Get rid of the pull ups. They only hinder training. They are so much like a diaper, I think they only confuse kids. Just be very consistant! Take her to the potty every 10 mins. until she goes. Lots of people say rewards help but I never had much sucess with that so I just rewarded with smiles and words of encouragement. I also bought a Elmo that was for potty training. He would dance and sing a potty song and came with a little toliet and when you put Elmo on the potty he would do the potty song. I also read lots of potty training story books to my second son and believe it or not it was the Elmo doll that got him to use it. But, really it is about consistancy and patients. You will have to clean up a few messes, but pull ups don't work. Both of my boys were trained within a week of throwing the pull ups out. |

I agree. We were having trouble with my daughter as well. Over a weekend I took away her pull ups, let her pick out "big girl underware" and plugged away. We're now 3 weeks with out an accident (although poop is a different story....that one seems harder to get down pat). I set a timer (on the stove) for 30 minutes and every time it rang, we'd sit on the potty. After a few days, she started telling me when she had to go. I also put her potty where she can get at it. A few times she went without telling me. My daughter will be 3 on the 25th...don't push too much. She'll do it when she's ready!! :-) |

we have had her in big girl undies after her 2nd bday, cause she was doing good for a monthb before that so we figured she was ready but nope alot alot of accincents and we took her potty every 20 mins before and she would do good then go longer between potty breaks, then she started to refuse to go when we took her. yes jodie i would like the info on the 3 day method. the little potty is esy for to get but she would rather use it for a stool to wash her hands. we have a potty ring for the big potty to use. thanks fo all the advice |

it could be that she just isn't ready yet. Sometimes if I push too early with my daughter, it's almost like she is rebelling against me and saying "not until I am ready"....could be that one day she'll just do it. I also started getting her to sit on the potty before a bath, first thing in the morning, and before bed. Just to get used to it. Good luck! |

I never used pull ups, IMO they just delay the potty training, because the child knows they can just go in the pull up if they are too busy playing to go potty. With my 2 oldest I bought them a potty and we went shopping and I let them pick out big girl panties, then we would decorate the potty with stickers and put their name on it and they were only allowed to wear big girl panties during the day, but as soon as they had an accident they had to put a diaper on, which they didn't like so they always tried to make it to the bathroom. I would be understanding if they had really tried to make it to the potty and still had an accident, and would let them put on another pair of panties, but if they didn't try then it was a diaper for awhile. They were fully trained during the day when they were about 2 years old and at night I put a diaper on them until i noticed it was dry in the morning or they started going by themself at night, which was around 3 years old. |
