my 13 month old won't eat real fruit, the little chunks. it is weird because she seemed to love it when it was pureed. i was wondering if it is ok to just give her juice instead? Right now i am only giving her about an ounce or 2 of it a day. i've tried bannanna, even fruit juice treats by gerber, apple etc. she doesn't seem to have a problem with juice though.

What's wrong with continuing purees for fruits? My daughter loved pureed veggies but refuses the same vegetables prepared any other way so we've continued with jarred veggies. She's nearly 16 months old and is now working on using her own spoon to help feed herself.

I don't know about you, but I still stick to the lighter-coloured juices (apple, white grape, pear etc), which isn't much variety as far as fruits are concerned.

Have you tried watermelon or other melons? I think part of the problem for us is that DD gets used to foods having a particular texture so she doesn't like it when it changes -- she got used to apple sauce so she doesn't like apples whole, at least for now. Trying something completely new might be ok though.

I would keep trying trying to give her new fruits or just keep purreeing fruits. The problem with only juice is that is no fibre & way less vitamins & nutrients then the whole fruit itself. Not that there is anything wrong with juice, it's better then no fruit at all.... it's just fruit is just much healthier. Maybe you could try sneaking fruit into her food, like little soft apple chunks in oatmeal or blueberries in pancakes, soft small peach chunks in yougurt.

thanks, maybe i will try the applesauce idea. Well she didn't use to like the idea of pureed foods either, before she was a year she decided she'd steal from my plate all the time instead and when i gave her them, she would take her bowl and knock it all over the floor and she wouldn't eat with me feeding her with the spoon either, she is like little ms. independent, thinks shes beyond baby food to,lol.

Have you given her a spoon of her own to "help"? Many babies prefer to feed themselves so give her a spoon to feel part of the process -- or even put some food on her spoon and see if she can get it into her mouth. (We do this for about every 5th spoonful for our daughter).

Try something a little more nutritionally diverse than applesauce. I'm going to guess you're already giving her apple juice so mix it up for her.

Yes,she uses the spoon on her own ( sort of) she makes a big mess, i feel like a maid cleaning it all up 100 times a day, lol. That's what i meant by she won't let me feed her either.

So today i made her bannanna pancakes with sausage but she didn't seem too interested in them, i tried offering it twice, the other time for lunch but i ended up giving her veges instead because she still didn't want it, err. picky eaters! i even put syrup on it, who doesn't like banannas? i saved some, maybe i will try it one more time tomorrow.

Sounds like you've tried a variety of fruits and a variety of techniques... I'd just give it a break for a few weeks and try again.

thanks. Well i have good and bad news. She sort of likes the applesauce, she refuses it most of the time but occasionally ( mainly if she is walking around) she will have some. Maybe i should try to do more variety.
