Can I Be Carrying Twins?

I am anywhere between 5 - 7 weeks pregnant and have Dr's appt next week. As of last week I feel like my stomach has gotten really big. I was overweight even before pregnancy, size 14 - 16, but this increase in belly size leads me to beleive that I may be carying twins, as they do run in my family as well. Anyone experience anything like this?

Well, when you become pregnant, your body releases a hormone ( not sure what it is called right now) that causes your muscles to relax.. this is why many 2nd time moms start to show so much sooner then with the first one.. So, it is not uncommon to have a bit of a pooch from the very beginning... as far as twins go, though, your baby is smaller than an asprin right now. 2 would be still that small.... so your size, right now anyway, really has nothing to do with number of babies you are carrying.

I guess I should attribute it to bloating and gas?

The only way you would really be able to tell this early is by hormone levels in your blood. Any symptoms you could be having could be attributed to a number of different factors. I have three- three year olds and I am pregnant again and I have stronger symptoms this time than I do last time with the triplets. But, for me too, at six weeks it is just to early to tell.

Jenny - wow you had twins congrats...you sure are busy...do you mind me asking were you on clomid too? if so what dose? thx & good luck this time.
