Hey ladies, I have a question. How long did you wait to go to the RE? My DH and I have been trying since November and we are on our second month of clomid. Is it too early to see a RE and yes, we want to have a child as soon as possible. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks shashana, i really appreciate that. I will relax and hope for the best.

LoveLife~ I have wondered this myself. I'm going to my first RE appt this week. We decided to do it because my cycles have been very irregular and I have taken clomid for the last three months. (even though we've only been actively trying for 6 months.) I'm only 24 and I don't have any kids yet, so I am concerned about damaging my reproductive organs. My OB has done no monitoring at all since I've been on clomid and I would like someone to give me their expert opinion on whether this is the right thing for me to be doing. The way I see it, it can't hurt to reassure myself that I'm doing the right thing. I don't want to have any regrets later in life.

lovelife - It all depends, I tried clomid for two month and then I talked to my insurance and since I'm 37 years old and I have been trying for more than 8 month I just went ahead and made an appoitment with a RE.
I think it's up to you and I really don't think it's too early to see one. I'm glad I saw my RE, they really try to look for the cause of your infertility... I hope this helps... Good Luck and keep us posted.

hello ladies! thanks to all for the warm wishes! :)

for me, I turned 30 in November and we had started trying in a nonchalant fashion in early September. The problem was that once I stopped my pills, I only got my period twice by end of December....so I started going to my OB for assistance, since I realized that even after 10+ years of being on the pill consecutively, my cycles were still a mess.... after seeing her from Dec - March, and being on Provera and Clomid for one cycle, she mentioned the notion of possibly having to go to an RE if my 2nd cycle with her didnt work. Before starting the 2nd cycle I decided I wanted to skip ahead and go to the RE. Each cycle of Clomid for me was about 6-7 weeks...since I had to first use the Provera, etc., and I just didnt want to wait all that time again with all the unknowns....esp since this is my first child and I plan on having more than one.
Going to the RE was the best thing I ever did, and my only regret is not going sooner! Since I knew I had a history of irregularity. The RE has provided so much more insight as to what is going on inside of me than my OB could...and just knowing where your levels are at, seeing the follicles forming, having bloowdowkr confirm that you have o'ed, etc. has been amazing and SO re-assuring..... I personally think that if time is one thing that is NOT on your side, an RE is the way to go... everyone's situations are different so you have to see where you stand in your timeline of having this baby.

Hello Ladies!!! Wishing you all a very Good Morning and a great week ahead!

AFM, my AF arrived happily on Saturday... :(
I was busy over the weekend crying and consoling myself and my DH. Another new cycle, starting from scratch... :(
Am not sure as to whats gonna happen to me and if at all I would have a baby one day. I have to call my Dr to ask if I have to go in for clomid this cycle.
But, I had HORRIBLE, unbearable cramps. Not sure if it was due to clomid...

So, a new month. New start. With lots and lots of hopes. Thanks for all your wishes and advises.
**&&~~!!!Baby dust to all!!!~~&&**

wanna_be_a_mom.... sorry about that but as you av said, it's a new start. wishing you good luck on this cycle

merciano - May 18th, 2009 10:12 AM

Av been experiencing a mild pain on my left ovary since yesterday, i read it happens sometimes after ov that one may experience pain in the ovary that releases the egg for the cycle. Am still taking it cool but if the pain persists i will have to see the GP.

rpats - May 18th, 2009 10:27 AM

wanna_b_a_mom- sorry to hear that AF showed its ugly head :(

wanna_b_a_mom - May 18th, 2009 10:33 AM

Merciano: Thanks for your encouraging words. And yes, I had mild cramps in my left ovary after ovulation (around 36 hrs after the trigger shot). Dont worry about it. I wish you calm and cool 2WW. :)

rpats: Yes it id. I wanted to join the club too. I guess the time has not come for me yet. :( Hoping for the best this month. But am not sure why the heck all this false PG symptoms show up... (sore bbs and npls, headache, backache, nausea) It gives hope and we are more frustrated when AF shows... :(

Chewymio - May 18th, 2009 11:09 AM

wanna_b_a_mom- sorry to hear that AF came:(

rpats: I'm still getting your post from thursday and Friday..lol!!! Anyway I wanted to ask you, did you do any injectables or did you just do Clomid and Ovidrel? And How many times before the actual IUI did you go back for b/w and u/s? And once you did the Ovidrel when do you schedule your IUI? Did it hurt you(the injection)? I hear that even thou the pen needle is very small, I can hurt...

AFM.. I have today and tomorrow for Clomid(thank God) I'm only taking 25 mg but I'm getting headaches:( then tomorrow my first shot of Follistim 75 IU and then on thursday 150 IU. Then Saturday go for b/w and u/s to see the follicles and to determine when to do the trigger....

rpats - May 18th, 2009 11:38 AM

wow- thats so late chewymio!
My first visit to the RE was on April 10th- and at that point I had just finished the third round of Provera prescribed by my OB. So I got my period 2 the next day after the RE and so I went back to the RE on cd3 for an ultrasound. I had my HSG test on cd 6. After that I went back 3 times the following week for b/w and u/s - and the 3rd visit, cd 16, was when my follicles were large enough for me to take the Ovidrel.
Then I went back on cd 18 and had the IUI done.
The Ovidrel did not hurt at all... it was nerve-wrecking to take it... I was home alone as my husband was out of town, and prob stared at the injection and re-read the instructions 20 times before finally sticking it in. It is nothing... I'd even say that a paper cut can be worse! hehe

good luck!!!

Chewymio - May 18th, 2009 11:54 AM

rpats - thanks, I just hate needles, and I know that after all we go thru I should be used to it by now, but I don't know, there is something about needles that I dislike..lol!!! Did you take Clomid? how many follicles matured? O god you are brave!!! I don't think I can't inject myself, and if I have to it'll probably take me an hour or two...
