Esmy - Welcome back!

Thanks ladies for your support. It's definitely hard to swallow, but I'm so ready to figure out what's going on, get it fixed, and have a baby! I made an appt with an RE for June 15th. I'm really excited to hear what she has to say and make an action plan. My husband is more worried about the .... in a cup. I just laugh at him and tell him he'll have to look around when we go in to the office so he knows he's not the only one who may have to do that. I'm sure that's a normal thing for a man to feel.

Abbyjo, I am so glad you made an appt with RE i think you will gain a lot from going and get you on the right track, how much testing have you had done so far?? I know my obgyn hasnt done near as much as ive had already since if went to RE, he wants to cover all the bases and thats their specialty. Have you taken a baby asa??? I fortunately live close to my RE and we got to collect the ...in a cup at home and i took it up afterwards, but my ?? is how do you go about the IUI?? Do they have to do it there at the time in the office?? I know my husband is shy and im sure not comfortable about that either, lol.

Abbyjo....I'm so sorry to hear that! I will keep you and your husband in my prayers...I know how hard this is on all of us but I'm sure what your feeling is worse. Hang in there though...like you said it will happen!!
Heather...I'm happy to hear everything went well with your appt...I know I actually got teared up when they told me everything was fine, it's such a relief to know everything is ok and at the same time frustrating that things aren't happening. Weh have been trying for close to 2yrs now. But we'll get there! I just know it!

ESMY, thank you, i know that test was a bit crampy to have done , i got to see the dye go up thru the fallopian tubes and out the ovary it was kinda neat to watch, my obgyn didnt do many tests but the RE is doing all kinds of them, I was surprised to hear his fee was lower than ive read here, im in Ohio so it could be the area, it seems like my RE does a lot of them as i went there and there were 4 other girls there getting the same test and the RE actually does it himself.

keric, thats my biggest fear is that he says he cant find anything wrong and cant help us. Its been over a year and i just found out a couple months ago i wasnt o, thats the only thing he found and the meds arent helping, I do know my RE is not impressed with clomid he doesnt think it works well and if it doesnt do anything this month hes on to something else,

Heather - I haven't really had any tests done by my OBGYN other than the routine b/w - like testing for FSH, estradiol... stuff like that. I'm not sure what you mean by baby asa - are you talking about baby aspirin? If so, no, I haven't taken any. Do you think I should? I have no idea how the IUI is done, but I am curious, so if anyone else knows... please do tell. I need to give my husband a heads up. :)

I know what you girls mean by hearing that everything is okay. I can imagine how frustrating that is to wonder why nothing is working if everything is okay - just doesn't make sense. ugh... what a roller coaster of emotions we are on.

My sister-in-law just emailed pics of their little baby today (I haven't told them my news yet otherwise she probably wouldn't have emailed them so soon). She's about 9 weeks along and while I'm so happy for her and my brother, it is so hard. I know we've all thought it countless times - why is it so easy for some people and so hard for me... sigh...

Abbyjo...I'm supposed to go in next week for my IUI so I will let you know how it goes. The nurse told me it's very similar to the hyster.....gram :)So we shall see I'm nervous and excited all at the same time!

Abbyjo, sorry i was abbreviating the meds yes i mean baby aspirin, i have heard people who miscarry have been put on it to keep the blood just thin enough they beleived that some miscarriages were due to blood clots....something to think about or ask about. I am also in the sme boat as you my sister in law and brother who wasnt having anymore kids is pregnant and my mom is so overjoyed and thats all i hear about, im thinking when u go to the RE your gonna get the tests you need and hopefully figure out whats going on. As for the (HSG) hystersalpingogram i thought it was a little painful lots of cramping but it makes sense with the IUI because they go right up into your uterus.

Keric, Im in Canfield its south of Youngstown and the RE i see is afiliated with Cleveland Clinic, please let us know what to expect with the IUI as like abby my husband wants to know what to expect also i am so excited for you...where you from in ohio???

AbbyJo...that's awesome news about your appt with the RE! When I 1st called to make an appt with my RE it took like 8 days for them to see me, and that seemed like forever, so I know you just cant wait til the 15th. Believe me, you will be very happy to know that you are in a good specialists hands. In regards to the "hubby and the cup"... my hubby had to tell them he would bring in the sample for the analysis. He claims he cant do it under pressure, luckily for us the office is only 10 mins away from our home! He is dreading the IUI bcz then they will need 2 samples, 1 the night before and 1 in the morning right before the IUI. The 1 in the morning before the IUI has to be done at the office. I think its funny how guys get all nervouse and worried about "the cup".

Heather...I'm so glad to hear that the hystersalpingogram is a very quick test, and not like an outpatient surgery. I guess the surgery would come after incase there is blockage. Thanx for the info.

So here are my questions for anyone...Is the clomid suppose to help mature your follicles or just help in actually releasing the mature follicles (eggs)??? What does Clomid actually do? Also...if anyone has ever been on Clomid 150mg CD 3-7, did you feel as if your pelvis was bloated? Thanx for all the support girls. Baby Dust to all!!!

ESMY, yep that hsg was very quick like 5 minutes and you can c for yourself and know right then if theres a blockage, from what i understand clomid is supposed to trick your pituitary gland into thinking your estroen is low in turn stimulating it to produce more and with the increase in hormones that is what produces your egg and releases it if all goes as planned, i took 150mg clomid cd 3-7 and didnt feel anything, when i took 100mg cd 3-7 i felt cramping on the last day of my pill and felt bloated to, i found out that the 100mg worked best ive heard more isnt always best. Heather, so how long have you been taking Clomid? This is my 2nd cycle. I began last month taking 100mg CD 3-7, and this month I was given 150mg CD 3-7. When I took the 100mg, I didnt O. My follicles were not mature enough to get the HCG shot. Do you happen to know what the highest prescription of CLomid anyone has taken is? I'm trying to stay hopeful, but I also want to have an idea of after how many cycles will Dr's try something other than Clomid?

ESMY - Clomid helps your follicles to mature into eggs. Clomid tends to help women who do not O or who are iregular O more regularly because it speeds up the maturing of the follicles. I am just starting clomid so I havent personally experienced anything yet but I know that several women in here have said that theuy felt bloated. If too much clomid is taken it can cause cysts and hyperovulation (which can be painful).

ESMY - The highest dosage that dr will rx of clomid is 250mg. Some dr will actually have you take it for more then 5 days too. It all depends on your dr. Some dr dont like using clomid so they only use it for a couple of months before trying a new treatment. Good Luck!

ESMY, Soready is right i have heard they have given it as high as 250mg but i bet your dr would move onto something else before that because of the cysts and hyperovulation, i am on my 4th round i took 50mg and no o then i took 100mg and they thought i did then i did 150mg and they said it was questionalble if i did again, now i have seen the RE and he has me taking 100mg for 7 days instead of 5 and if its not successful this time he is scrapping clomid and trying something else, my RE isnt real impressed with clomid from what i gather from him. i think if it doesnt work the first couple rounds its time to try something else. So for me this is my 4th and probably last round of clomid i have to go back next friday and have a cm test and us. ill keep you posted.
