FETAL POLE?

i had a us and they said they saw 2 fetal poles but only heard one heartbeat, i'm only 7wks 3 days. He is assuming the other one didn't make it. First of all what are fetal poles and do you think there is still a chance the other is ok.......and if one didn't make it will it effect the healthy one?

I'm 6 weeks with twins... I'm not exactly sure what fetal poles are but I heard they are like umbilical cords - not sure - you can probably easily research those - but as for the other baby - no, losing one does not affect the other. The other one should be completely fine. Also, I woudn't assume that the one twin won't make it. It may be slower to develop or could have been hiding, etc. It's just too early to tell just because you only saw one heartbeat - 7 weeks is pretty early for heartbeat anyway, so I'd hang in there and hope - but for sure, your one baby will be okay no matter what happened to the other one. good luck!!!
