[Original Post]

I started taking Femara on day 3-7 then Gonal-F from day 7 to 10. I am suspose to have one more shot of Gonal-F today, but when I went in for my ultrasound this morning. I had 4 large follicles on my left side. (I don't have the right ovary anymore) The sizes were 17X17, 21X17, 29X14, & 24X15, my estrogen level is 580, so they decided to do my trigger shot tonight, instead of taking the last shot of Gonal -F. I am on cycle day 11 today. My IUI is scheduled for Wednesday at 5pm. I am really excited and praying for lots of babydust!! Any similar stories? Or thoughts???

Hi, I have not done the Femara/Gonal-F combo, but I did the Follistim (similar to Gonal-F) injections this cycle. With four follicles, your chances for multiples are definitely higher. For the injects alone, my RE told me the chances of twins are 25% and lower for triplets or more. I don't know if I was of any help to you, but I just wanted to wish you good luck!

Maya444 - Thank you so much for replying! I had my IUI on Wednesday, cd 13. Right before the IUI they did another ultrasound and my follicles were 19x18, 21x14, 31x19 & 31x13. My lining was 14.4 mm. I am just hoping one of them made it in there. It was pretty painful and I bled afterwards. Are you doing an IUI cycle this month? Your post was very helpful thank you!!

Maya444 - October 16th, 2009 4:04 PM

Guess what, we are cycle buddies! I stimmed for 27 days, had my first ever IUI this past Tuesday, and a post-O sono revealed that four follicles actually released. I too am hoping that atleast one will get fertilized! I will go back for beta on the 25th, what about you? Is this your first cycle with IUI?

strbuks77 - October 16th, 2009 5:25 PM

YAY Maya!!! I am SO excited to have a cycle buddy!!! This is technically my second IUI, the first one I had about 6 years ago and I got pg the first time!! I have endometriosis, so the pregnancy put it in remission and I was able to conceive my second daughter naturally, here we are almost 6 years later since my first IUI and we are trying for our 3rd. My youngest is almost 4. So this is my first IUI since then. They told me to take a pregnancy test 16dpiui if I don't get my period, then I go in for beta if I get a positive. I am praying for a BFP for both of us! Wouldn't that be SO cool! If you are preggos you have to let me know after your first sono, if you are preggo with more than one!! :) Let me know how you are feeling during your 2ww. Feel free to write anytime! I am online alot and its nice to have someone to talk to, who is going through the same thing as me. I'm always here to listen!!

Hi there, I am 5dpiui today and so far no symptoms other than the sore bbs, but that's probably a s/e of progestrone supps. Here's my story: I have PCOS and am anovulatory. Came off BCPs last Oct. and tried three cycles of Clomid without O'ing even once. Dh and I finally decided to see a RE and had several tests done in Aug and Sept. before starting my first injectables cycle. It will certainly be great if we both get bfp's around the same time :)

How is your 2ww going? Are you feeling anything?

strbuks77 - October 18th, 2009 2:47 PM

Hey Maya I think I am 4dpiui, I have had some mild cramping, and some heartburn, not bad though. I am not taking any progesterone supplements. I am sure I wasn't ovualting either, because one month I would have a mature follicle, the next month I would have a large cyst. My guess is that follicle didn't ovaulate and turned into a cyst. I am so thankful for the trigger shot. So far the 2ww is okay. I try and do other things to not think about it too much, but I always do. :) Are you going to take a hpt? Or do you go in for a beta test? Keep me posted!!

Maya444 - October 18th, 2009 4:21 PM

I know it's hard not to worry about it. I keep asking my dh if this will work and he keeps saying it will if God intends for it to work! I go in for beta on the 25th (12dpiui) and I am hoping not to cave in and use a hpt before then b/c it will be too early. How about you? Do you think you will be able to resist the temptation until 16dpiui?

strbuks77 - October 18th, 2009 8:59 PM

Yeah my hubby says the same thing! I keep praying and asking God to please let it be this time!! I guess we will have to wait and see. I want to try and hold off testing as long as possible, but I know I will probably end up caving at some point. They won't do my beta until I get a postive hpt. I live an hour away from my RE anyway, so I wouldn't want to drive an hour just to get a blood test done anyway. I want to try and wait, cause I am tired of seeing one-liners, so I am scared to death to take a test. Although we probably have a better chance of conceiving this time than any other month, especially with my endometriosis. We just don't get pg on our own. So I am praying really hard for us that we get out bfp's this month!! Let me know how you are feeling!

Maya444 - October 19th, 2009 4:15 PM

Hi Strbuks- I can understand not wanting to drive an hour for a beta before you do the hpt. Luckily, my RE's office isn't so far away, which is a good thing b/c I went there atleast 12 times in three weeks. There was one week in which I had to go in 5 days in a row!

So, I am 6dpIUI today. Still no symptoms besides sore bbs, but I think it's too early for symptoms anyway, so not too disappointed. What's new with you?

strbuks77 - October 19th, 2009 5:06 PM

Hey Maya - Not too much, although it does hurt, if I sit down too hard. My uterus doesn't feel heavy, more like sensitive. I've also had some yellow mucus discharge like the thick kind, not the slippery wet kind. Kinda strange but not really putting any stock in any of these things cause I am only 5dpiui and I have had every symptom in the book and not been pg. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm glad you are doing well. Keep me posted on how you are feeling in this coming week. You are coming up on one week past, and isn't that the time when the egg implants? or about that time? I'm not certain, but that's what I thought. So let me know how you are feeling in the next couple days. :)

Maya444 - October 20th, 2009 3:35 PM

Hi there, how are you feeling today? You are a day behind me, so you are 6dpIUI, right? I am 7dpIUI today and feeling a few twinges here and there. You are right about implantation occuring b/w 6-12 dpo. I feel really bad today b/c I decided to sweep and mop the floor and now I feel like this might mess things up :( Do you think it might affect implantation? Did your RE advice you to avoid certain things?

strbuks77 - October 20th, 2009 4:03 PM

Hey Maya - I am sure that you can do your normal day to day activities and it should not affect implantation. I always thought that anxiety might affect implantation, but it doesn't. You are totally fine! Yes, I am 6dpiui, I have been a little crampy today, but other than that I'm doing okay. I'm trying to stay caustiously optimistic. Only 5 more days before your beta test!! Are you nervous??

Maya444 - October 20th, 2009 4:09 PM

Oh yes big time!!! I just wish there was a sign of some sort that could tell me what the outcome will be, offcourse there isn't :( I am crampy today as well, but it started right after I did the household chores, so not sure if that's good or bad. I am trying to stay optimistic too, but it's hard. How soon did you find out you were pg with the other two babies?

strbuks77 - October 20th, 2009 4:40 PM

My first one was an IUI as well. I honestly didn't think I was pg, cause I was so crampy I thought af was right around the corner, but I tested 11dpiui, and got a bfp!! It was my very first IUI too! I couldn't believe it! Then my second one, was a total surprise! We didn't think we could have anymore because of how long it took us to get pg with the first, so my first daughter was only 5 months, when I had the flu and my hubby and I were only together one day that cycle! CD 18!!! Then I took a test when cd 30 came around and no af, the test came back bfn!! then 3 days went by, nothing, so I took another one on cd33 and it came back a faint faint positive! Talk about shock!! My first daughter was only 5 months old! I have endometriosis so I think the pregnancy put my endo into remission, allowing me to get pg again. Plus I only have my left tube and ovary. I lost the right one in 2003 because I had a large endometrioma (a blood filled cyst) on it. After my second child, we used condoms, so we didn't have any more right away, but then I think we went beyond the time when my endo was in remission cause we have not been able to conceive on our own, and my youngest will be 4 Nov 4th. We have been trying for 2 years for a third, and this is the first time I've been cleared for IUI because of a lot of complications. This time last year, I found out my tube that I do have was blocked, so I scheduled surgery in Feb of this year, the only good thing that came from that surgery is they took off another endometrioma that I had on my left ovary, but they nicked my intestines and I ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks having to have emergency surgery to repair the mistake, so I was out for 3 months recovering, then we had to find a new RE, cause we didn't want to keep the one that botched my surgery. Oh by the way, my tube was open when they did the surgery! I started in July with my new RE, one month they had to do another HSG to make sure my tube was open, then on month dr was out of town, another month I had a cyst so I had to be on bc pills for the month, so this is the first month I've been cleared for IUI. I really hope it works!!

Maya444 - October 20th, 2009 5:25 PM

Wow! After reading your story, my own problems seem so petty! I am glad you overcame all the problems and have two precious little ones and hopefully will be holding your third baby soon :) Are you rooting for a boy this time? I know I am :)

strbuks77 - October 20th, 2009 6:25 PM

My hubby really would like a boy. He says there is too much estrogen in house!! :)) Plus we talk his head off, so he would love a boy this time. At this point I would just like a healthy baby, boy or girl. If I could choose, I would probably choose a boy. I guess we will have to wait and see. Well, I guess we all have our trials in life ya know, maybe you have had things in your life, that I haven't had, so it all balances out. I am SO praying this works!!
