Hi ladies How are yall doing?

unconventional - Have you taken a HPT yet? I have heard that when you take a higher does it actually decreases your chances of getting prego. I will be starting clomid at the end of this month and I will be doing it in a little bit of an unconventional way as well. I have rx and u/p clomid that I will be taking 100mg from days 3-8. My OB wants me to take them from 5-9 but I know that more eggs will form during 3-7. Day 8 is just an added bonus to help them mature. CD3-7 tend to produce more eggs but they usually are not as matured. On cd14 my Ob will give me an u/s to check how many eggs I have and how matured they are. I am so excited because the u/s will give me a good idea if twins are a possibility. If I only have 1 egg I will know that the possibility is very slim. I cant wait until the end of this month to get started!

Hi SoReady! I understand the anxiousness. I did take an early preg test this morning which picks up hcg at 20 but it was negative. I am not due for my cycle until Friday. I have been having lower abdominal aching but not cramping and bloating like I usually do with my period and also no early signs of my period (like some spotting) which is common for me.

I too read that because of cervical mucus, etc higher doses can make it more difficult but I also believe that the longer you do higher doses, the more that is true. I'm hoping since this is my first round, that won't be the case, I'll be pregnant, and with more than one (but not like octomom, but I have read up on the horrible decisions of selective reduction).

I figure if I have no period on Friday (I usually go like clock work, if not early) I am going to call bc of the abdominal sensitivity (it isnt severe so Im not worried) and get blood tests and ultra sounds. Since I am considered "high risk" bc of past miscarriages and i need to be on a blood thinner when pregnant, I can get in fast and get some things done.

I'm just sooo anxious, wondering if I really am feeling pregnant or if I am just having PMS? (Usually my PMS is a week before my period!)

Does anyone know if multiples, due to higher hcg, will cause a preg test to show pos sooner? Should I take it as a sign I have either one or none that Im two days out and a negative??
SOOO anxious!

Please keep us updated! I wish more people would find this thread and chime in! :)

Baby Dust to us all!

This is my actual first day of some signs of period expected, usually very light (day 28 for that) and tomorrow is day 28 of when the "real" AF usually arrives. Nothing yet that even seems like I'm going to start...

keeping my fingers crossed for you unconventional!! i don't know if twins/more would make a hpt show + sooner. when i was preg with twins i tested at the normal time (actually 3 days after af was expected) and it showed positive of course by then. but even at the dr there was no clue that there was more than one until my 18 week appt and i measured 23 weeks. they got me in for my u/s a few days later and there were 2 babies. also at my 18 week appt my afp test results came back out of whack. way too high. a sign that there was something wrong with the baby, i was further ahead than we thought, or there was more than 1 baby. if you are being monitored from day 1 you will find out at your first visit i would think. does you dr do an u/s at the first visit?

I am not taking clomid for the purpose of having twins, but I am a woman who is taking clomid with no fertility problems. I have been watching this feed and taking in every word. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 2 years now. Last year we had a semenanalysis done. It show that my husband had several problems with his sperm. We had to see a male fertility specialist who said my husband had a varicocele. A varicocelectomy was done to try to correct the problems in March. We ttc again in April and May with no luck. This month my doctor gave me a RX for clomid 50mg cd 3-7. I am worried about multiples because I do not have any fertility issues. My dr just wants to be sure that my husbands sperm have every chance to break the egg.

I have mentally prepared myself for multiples and at this point it wouldn't bother me to have more than one (as this might be our only chance to conceive). I have searched and searched for research with women with no fertility problems who have taken clomid, but there doesn't seem to be any.

This is my first round, my doctor will let me take clomid for about 4 months. I will keep you posted as to the effectiveness of clomid from my perspective.

Thx LisaJ!

I have had us as early as 5/6 weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if, when I go in tomorrow, they try and do a transvaginal us. Sometimes of course, those don't show multiples but in the blood work, they should measure hcg bc of my past problems so the levels may indicate something. I would likely have another us around 6/7 weeks, so I'd know soon, you just know how it is waiting! Even if the pregnancy test shows negative tomorrow, I'm going in because if I am, I need to get on blood thinners now to make sure the pregnancy sustains. Hopefully I'll have answers tomorrow evening!

LadyBug, I have also searched with little results. I believe it's because many are hesitant to say so. (that they were ovulating normally, took clomid to have multiples)

Good luck to you!

SoReady - June 5th, 2009 3:29 AM

Hey ladies - I found a website the other day that discussed clomid on women with out fertility problems. I will look for it again today and post it as soon as I find it. I think I remember it saying that clomid will not have any different affects on fertile women vs unfertile. Anyways, I will look for it.

greatgreta - June 5th, 2009 9:27 AM

Hey Ladies!

haven't been on this site for AGES, but just thought I'd drop by to say Hello!!
Krissy- hey girl, really missed you! glad you're well and had a good BDAY! you're often in my thoughts and prayers! this WILL happen for you!

As some of you may know, I am currently 24+ weeks pregnant with boy/girl twins! both bubs are doing really well (the little wrigglers, lol)!
I took unprescribed clomid to conceive multiples as I have no fertility issuses. as i have said before, the statistic of 10% increased chance of multiples is about the same for fertile and infertile women. I say this after years of research and from being part of many many forums dedicated to this.

i wish you all the very best and am sending babydust your way!

unconventional - June 5th, 2009 9:37 AM

Greta, CONGRATS!

I have an appt for my slight abdominal pain this afternoon, I'm hopeful they'll do an ultrasound and I'm hopeful I'm pregnant and they can see sacs this early (I'd be 4 weeks, 1 day from last period, 13 days since LH surge).

Because of my high risk of blood clots during pregnancy, I'm also having a blood test done with results back in a couple of hours so if need be, I can get on the meds necessary to keep me and my babies (hopefully more than one!) healthy!

Crossing my fingers!!! Please, other ladies, keep updating us! So excited!!!

SoReady - June 5th, 2009 10:07 AM

greta - I am gad to hear that the babies are doing well. How far along were you when you found out that you were having twins?

ladies - here is the website that I was telling you about: ivf dot com/ clom dothtml It looks like this is a legit. site

unconventional - June 5th, 2009 7:27 PM

Well, I have a couple of cysts, nothing serious, but hcg test shows that I'm not pregnant. Now since Clomid can delay things, it is possible I'm pregnant, but it won't show for a week or two. Considering the cysts though, I'm thinking I ovulated but didn't get pregnant. So now I anxiously await my next period (grrr hurry up already!) and then I'm just going to take 50mg from days 3-7 and cross my fingers!!!!

Anyone one know if the cysts mean I ovulated (obviously) and didn't get pregnant or if perhaps it's just too early to show that I'm pregnant?

Thanks ladies!

Krissy68 - June 5th, 2009 7:41 PM

greatgreta - Hey girlfriend how are you doing and feeling? How are the babies doing? Do you have any names picked out? Where did you buy your clomid from? Do you have any left over? I saw my doctor in April and she told me my endo bisopy came back fine and that she didn't she anything wrong with me getting pg. She wanted me to try on my on until July so if I am not pg then I have to see her on July 27 and we will go from there. I am still trying to have the laparscopy and hysterscopy done as well but I am still need about $750 to have that done but I am praying that my new doctor can do it that way I don't have to pay the RE all this money and I would just have to pay the hospital co pay. I will keep you posted. I'm currently on cd 22/8dpo and this what is bothering me at this point. I am constipated, my boods are a little sore, moody my cm is wet and creamy not sure what that means and the most is the craving of ice that's about it my temp are still up and I should be getting AF between June 13-15 if it was you when would you test? Please rub your belly for me and I want you to take care. Have a great weekend!!!!Krissy68

SoReady - June 6th, 2009 3:27 AM

unconventional - It is possible to have cysts and still be prego. When was Af suppose to show up? If AF doesnt show up 15 days after you have O, then take another HPT. The only thing that clomid delays is O. Everyones luteal phase is approx. 14days after O, so at 15 days past I would take another test or go back to your dr for another u/s. Cysts can give you a false positive on a HPT.

SoReady - June 6th, 2009 3:37 AM

Krissy - I hope that ypur get your BFP this month. I would do a test on 15DPO. That should give you your answer. I know that 7 days is a long ways off and you can test eariler but I would hate for you to get disappointed by a BFN. Implantation usually occurs between 8-10DPO so I hope that you are feeling a few cramps! It isnt until after implantation that your HCG levels will raise and you can get a + HPT. Good Luck!

unconventional - June 6th, 2009 6:50 AM

SoReady..thank you! I was due yesterday for AF and the dr did a blood test for preg and picked up nothing. Is it possible that it was just too early to have high enough levels in my system to pick it up, even with a blood test?
