"Wanting".. although I am by no means supporting the use of unprescribed fertility drugs..... I don't know if you have researched this or not ( I have) but adoption is a long process, very risky, and EXPENSIVE! So, although I support the IDEA of adoption, for many people, it is just not a realistic option. Did you know that the average "cheap" adoption still costs you around $16,000? and that MOST of this money is needed all at once? Did you know that if you adopt in the US, the birth parents can change their mind, you will lose the baby, and you will be OUT all that money, so you may not be able to try again? How about the fact that in MOST foreign countries ( foreign to the US) adoption is not "open" so you travel to the country with little more then permission to adopt within an age range, but no guarantee that there will actually be a child they will allow you to take home.... Also think about the fact that MOST countries require adoptive parents to spend some time in country visiting, etc, before they will allow the adoption to go through.... and that with many of them this time line is several weeks long.. so even if you DO manage to come up with the money, DO have a child available, and ARE approved, you have to stop working for a month or more so that you can process your adoption... Not many can afford that! So.. although I am by no means in support of this use of this drug, the advice to "just adopt" isn't very realistic advice.. it is just not that easy. I think the real advice here is... you DO NOT NEED several babies all at once, and you SHOULD NOT risk them just for the chance. Natural multiple pregnancies or multiples as a result of true infertility treatment.. Bless You. You have a hard road ahead, and i know you would never ask for the risk and heartache you may be in for..

mama-beans - I am with you and all the other women who disagree w/the use of unprescribed meds to concieve 1, 2, 3, etc. babies. I read the previous post re: adoption and I believe that she was just addressing the women who want to concieve multiples and telling them if they want multiple kids of the same age to go adopt them. I know adoption is EXPENSIVE, but these uneducated, ignorant women taking unprescribed meds off of the internet face the prospect of spending $$$ thousands caring for themselves if the meds are not legit or used w/out the advisement of a Dr.

Thank you triplettmom. At least some women on here have a brain. Im not saying adoption is for everyone, but neither is having children for everyone. If you were your own mother, how would you feel about your decision. Just think before you do things. Our country has regulations on these drugs for a reason. And, I know the desire to want to have a child. I have been trying for over a year and my husband is in the military so it is even harder when he is gone. But, Im just asking you to think about the long term effects. Although having 2 or 3 cute little newborn babies may seem ideal now, thin about putting all of them through college simultaneously and buying them cars. Im not trying to offend anyone, but medication is dangerous.

"wanting" I wish you success w/your dream of having a child/children. It must be difficult trying to conceive around the times that your husband may be away. Like you said if it was meant to be, it will be. Hang in there - sometimes it is about timing, and sometimes you just need a little assistance!!!! God Bless!

I know many women on here have taken clomid with and/or without a prescription. Has anyone had negative effects from it besides headaches... etc.? Just curious.

TripletMom - November 8th, 2005 10:36 AM

I took prescribed clomid and the WORSE side effect that I had was mood swings and hot flashes! I would cry for NO reason!

mama-beans - November 8th, 2005 10:40 AM

With my rx Clomid, I had some over stimulated ovaries.. at one point I had 7 follicles!!! But luckily didn't develope cysts or anything. My daily problem was HOT flashes and insomnia.. and yeah, mood swings

??? - November 8th, 2005 12:06 PM

Thanks for your response. I am currently on 50mg and i have taken it days 3-6. Today is day 7 and I have been happier than ever. I havent noticed any effects so maybe it isnt working.

:( - November 8th, 2005 2:38 PM

I lost one of my ovaries to a cyst.

??? - November 8th, 2005 2:46 PM

Wow. How long were you on it to develop a cyst and how many mg were you taking?

Wanting - November 8th, 2005 2:47 PM

I really want a baby and my doctor prescribed me clomid but I am scared to take it from reading this board. Can anyone offer me some reassurance?

mama-beans - November 8th, 2005 3:29 PM

With a dofctor monitoring you, this is a relatively safe drug to take for short periods of time.

mandy - November 10th, 2005 2:15 PM

GETTING BACK TO THE TOPIC! I am getting ready to start my second round of clomid next week. Is there anything that makes it more effective that I can eat/drink/take with it? It gets expensive and I want this to be my last round. thanks

to Mandy - November 10th, 2005 2:26 PM

I hope that you are taking clomid under the supervision of your doctor. I think its effectiveness is solely in taking it exactly as prescribed. Ask your doctor, but I dont think that anything necessarily makes it more effective.

Wanting - November 10th, 2005 2:27 PM

I dont know if there is anything you can eat. I have kind of a gross question, and sorry ahead of time to anyone who may be offended. How do you guys get the semen to stay in your body? As soon as my husband and I finish.... it starts like pouring out even if I dont stand up. He is leaving to go back to the military in January so we are on a tight time schedule. Any advice to keep the little guys in?
