No, genius. Come on, people, you're smarter than than right? Once you're already pregnant, it's not possible to become pregnant again. And I don't believe that just because you have two uteruses that you can have two pregnancies. There would have to be double of everything. You guys are just brilliant..haha

Yes there is such a thing as "Vanishing twin" but it's not because you have two uteruses or four ovaries or anything like that. All that it is that there are two seperate sacks to form two seperate embryos. (Now i want to stress that the fertilization for both happens at the same time, there can't be two different daddies.) One of babies doesn't form. It's not a miscarriage or anything. A lot of people have this condition and don't know it. My son had a vanishing twin and you know something? I only slept with my husband. So this is how I know that this whole forum is a bunch of uneducated people. Brian, dude, everybody---You absolutely positively CANNOT, everybody listening? CANNOT GET PREGNANT WHILE YOU ARE ALREADY PREGNANT. IT'S NOT POSSIBLE. If you're trying to trick someone into thinking they're the father, you have a mental illness and that's a whole other discussion. A bit of advice.....KEEP YOUR PANTS UP!

Okay, i don't much care for the way yall treat each other on this sight. However i myself do not have a college degreee or anything close, but i am a fraternal twin and when my brother and i were born my mother was told that he was conceived 4 weeks before i was because of our weight and health problems. so i don't know what the odds are but it does happen. so you guys need to learn to be nice to each other. and not use this sight for medical advice but just for others opinions on your situation. no one is a doctor here

It can and does happen. My mother-in-law was pregnant with one baby, then a month later she became pregnant with my husband. How can you say that it does or doesn't happen if you have never had it happen? There are too many cases of it happening. Are all of those people lying?

Ask Dr. Greenfield

Getting Pregnant While Already Pregnant

QUESTION

Dear Dr. Greenfield,
How rare is it for one to get pregnant a second time once they are already 31days gestational with the first baby?

Dear Curious Mom-to-Be,
It is totally impossible to become pregnant once you are already pregnant. The hormonal changes that start as soon as conception occurs prevent new eggs from maturing and being released. There are very rare cases of twins conceived from different fathers, but these acts of intercourse were within a few days of each other, fertilizing two different eggs that were released at the same time.

I hope that this answers your question.

In reply to ... and Dr. Greenfield. First, why does it have to be with two different fathers? You need to get your wording correct. Second, no one can say that their is NO WAY that this could happen because there have been to many cases stating that it has.

I have 2 yr old triplets conceived through fertility treatments and born after a MUCH monitered pregnancy. At birth my first baby weighed over twice as much as my third baby. Baby C measured over 2 MONTHS BEHIND Baby A. That doesn't mean he was conceived later, it means he had IUGR (intra uterine growth restriction). That happens a lot with multiples. You and your brother were different weights because one of you was an IUGR baby. Even with two uteri the hormones necessary to ovulate STOP when you become pregnant.

Christina - November 18th, 2005 12:56 AM

No we weren't iugr babies if we had been that i would have put that in my earlier post. i told you the facts nothing else. that was my experience. i didn't ask you to correct me. i know what i know you know what you know. don't correct someone and tell them what they are until you know. thanks though.

THE POINT IS - November 19th, 2005 11:25 AM

THAT WHETHER IT IS POSSIBLE OR NOT THE LADY IN QUESTION WOULD NOT KNOW THIS WITHOUT MEDICAL CONFIRMATION I WOULD DEMAND PROOF FROM THE DOCTOR OR YOU'LL BE PAYING FOR IT . BUT THEN AGAIN THE FIRST POST WAS DATED 2004 SO WHY ARE WE ALL BOTHERING?

HHEEELLLL NOOO!!!

//. - November 21st, 2005 2:25 PM

it isn't possible. even with perfectly functionone double uterus, when the 1st one got pregnant... sperm meets egg... your body immediately releases hormone to sustain that pregnancy. Your estrogen and progesterone goes up 10 fold. It isn't possible because all these chemical changes would stop you from ovulating, if you had an ovary in the other uterus. Sorry.

It is extremely rare, so I doubt that any ladies on here were ever part of it but it has and can happen. It is called superfoetation and there was a case in rome in 2001. Here is the article. http://news.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.j

YES! It is called SUPERFOETATION. It is EXTREMELY RARE but DOES EXIST and is acknowledged in the medical field.
