why to you need to take yams after ovulation

New 2 the game - November 4th, 2005 12:26 PM

In response to the Wild Yams...the insurance company Aetna Intellhealth web reports the following so be cautious once you get pregnant.
Pregnancy And Breast-Feeding

Wild yam cannot be recommended during pregnancy or breast-feeding because of the risk of birth defects or spontaneous abortion. Pregnant women should avoid tinctures because of the high alcohol content (15 percent to 90 percent).

I need to know when I should start to take Folate, and vitex. is it about 6 months before I want to be pregnant? help!

Zerafa05 - August 30th, 2006 2:15 AM

Hello Everyone, Glad to hear someone else is trying to go about twining Naturally instead of using Clomid. I have been reaserching the Natural ways to increase the odds of twining and many site include increased dairy intake, folate and calcuim suppliments and someone also told me about Rasberry Leaf Tea. Not sure if any of this works, so if anyone can confirm any of these please do! Good Luck! :-)

BTW mama-bean - Congratulations on the BFP... are you pregnant with one or multiple?? Good Luck!

Zerafa05 - September 4th, 2006 10:29 PM

I have received information from a lady which deals in natural medicine and this is what she has suggested....Herbs such as the red raspberry leaf and chaste tree berry are most used (by the lady) along with green tea, nettle leaf, ladies mantle and evening primrose... Good Luck and baby dust to all! Mel :-)

I don't know how old the rest of you ladies are, but I am a young mother who is looking to get pregnant with my next or last child(ren). I would like to have twins, but I don't know if the chances make it too small for me because I am younger. I would really like to naturally have twins.... really excited. I will be trying to concieve next September/October. Any advice ladies?

MommaD - November 2nd, 2006 10:05 PM

Hi Aalysa, when I was pregnant last year, I took Vitex (chasteberry) black cohosh, and evening primrose oil along with a prenatal vitamin and got pregnant the next month. I also BD'd with my husband every day, and put a pillow under my hips for a half hour and I drank lots of water and used OPKs so I knew when Oday was.......unless you have another problem preventing you from getting pregnant there's no reason why you should be pregnant soon:)

Zerafa05 - November 8th, 2006 7:19 PM

MommaD - Did you fall pregnant with a singleton or multiple? I have heard that Vitex is used to regulate periods and evening primrose has also been recommended to help with twins as well. I have been told to take red raspberry leaf tea as well and have Yam Root herbs to have as tea which is also supposed to increase the chances. Dairy foods are also recommended so drinking lots of milk and eating lots of yoghurt. Anyone have any other ideas?? Thanks and baby dust to you all!!

kzarts - February 13th, 2007 9:15 PM

I keep finding conflicting information about Wild Yam Supplements. I started taking after ovulation, but when do I stop? Heard it will cause spontaneous abortion..?? Now I am scared I made a terrible mistake. Please advise. Thanks!

Zerafa05 - February 13th, 2007 9:39 PM

kzarts - I have not heard about any problems about Wild Yam suppliments. I would check with your doctor fist as they would know what should not be taken. If you do a search on google looking up safe herbs for pregnancy there should be some information about what you should not be taking. From what I can remember there was nothing saying that Wild Yam suppliments are unhealthy or bad for pregnancy. Good Luck! Mel
