I am 10w4d pregnant with twins and wanted to talk to other women who are pregnant with twins too. I have not found any good "support groups" for twin mommies to be. I just thought it would be fun to have some other women to go through it with.

Hi Ashley,
I just found out I was pregnant with twins, um, two days ago?? Yeah. Still in freak out mode, especially because know that I know, I am all freaked out about vanishing twin syndrome or other "high risk" problems. How are you dealing??

Ashley2121 - May 10th, 2009 6:52 PM

MarieAsher - Thats so great-finally someone else! At first I was really freaked out but the closer I get to 12 weeks the more I have calmed down about it. I have seen them on u/s and heard their heartbeats multiple times and they are both growing really good - so all this helps me to stay calm (even if its just a little). I am espicially cautious about the vanising twin syndrome because I was also a twin and my mom lost it around 3 months and there have been quite a few other women in my family that that has happened to as well. Dont get me wrong I am so excited its twins but I am also realistc that 1 may not make it. But like I said the closer I get to 12 weeks the more relaxed I am getting about it. I have been very careful not to get to attached to the idea of twins but I cant help it.

So how far along are you? How are your symptoms?

Hi, I just found out that I am having twins too! It would be nice to talk to some one who knows what I am going through. At first we thought that the second egg sack was going to vanish because the ultrasound couldn't find anything inside. When I went back a week later, it was there, heartbeat and everything. I am very freaked out and didn't expect this! I am only 7 weeks though so really early. I am here and looking forward to hearing from anyone pregnant with twins.

Ashley2121 - May 27th, 2009 1:10 PM

azil - Welcome and congrats on the twins! I wish I could say something to reassure you that both twins will be fine, but I like you, was very nervous about losing one. No matter what anyone says there is always that possibility. I can tell you though when you make it to 12 weeks, then it feels like a HUGE weight is lifted off your shoulders and you can relax. Take it easy and just know that God knows what he is doing.

With that being said, how are you feeling? I am 13w3d and am just waiting to find out what we are having. The good thing about being pregnant with twins is you get to have u/s done a lot more often - I go every other week. That helps put your mind at ease a lot too!

Hi Ashley, I am not feeling so good. I am afraid and alone most of the time so I am terrified. My husband is always away at work. He is gone a month at a time. He might get to come home for 2 weeks, but sometimes less. I can't say that I am excited about this pregnancy. It is my first and will be my last. I can't seem to find any resources on how to raise two by yourself. I don't know what to do! Do you have any other children? If you know of any sites that tell you how to cope with twins please let me know.

Ashley2121 - May 28th, 2009 7:50 AM

I am sorry to hear you are having such a hard time and I am sorry even though you are married you feel like you would be raising 2 babies on your own. I have ready on many sites that it is completly normal to not be excited about twins right away and to even hate the idea. It takes some women a long time to accept it. You have to realize that every baby is a blessing, no matter if they come alone or in quads.

There are so many women who would kill to be in your shoes. They have been trying for years to have just 1, but you and I are lucky enough to be blessed with 2. THings may seem hard right now, but just realize how truly luck you are.

I dont have any other kids, these will be my 1st as well. I have found a couple of sites. raisingtwins(dot)com & twin-pregnancy-and-beyond(dot)com

Dont feel alone! I know its not much and it doesnt take the place of a real person, but I am always here on these forums if you need someone to talk to. Just remember we are blessed for our 2 bundles of joy!! *HUGS* I hope you start to feel better soon :)

Hey ladies, i'm not having twins...not even pregnant yet, but i thought i'd share with you that a good group of ladies is on the wte (What to expect) site. They have all sorts of boards from the month you're due to hot topics to multiples. you don't have to "belong" to anyone group. We all hop around. Its a great group of girls. I'm on the dec 08 board, i think you'd really like it. Best luck and H&H 9 months.

Ashley2121 - May 28th, 2009 5:09 PM

thanks brev, I will have to check it out

LindaS - June 1st, 2009 8:01 PM

Hehe, Ashley, I'm highjacking your thread for a second darlin' :)

pregnancy dot org is an absolutely fabulous site....been a member there for over 7 years myself. We have a twins/multiples board for preggies and parents separate...though the pg ladies and the already delivered moms go to both places. However, even busier are our birth month boards, where we have three or four on each of the last few boards of the year for '09 :) On my BB, we have I think three so far with twins and one with triplets :) I hope you'll go there for some encouragement and introduce yourself. You can sign up for free and use any screen name you choose, as long as it isn't already taken ;)

Bless each one of you! I know it's hard enough being pregnant, but even harder when you're expecting more than one at a time. HUGE hugs to each of you!!

Linda - thanks a lot, I will have to check it out soon. How you feeling? I hope everything is going great for you :)

Azil - How are you doing?

mixedmessages - June 13th, 2009 5:45 PM

Azil - I wanted to especially reach out to you because it seems like we are feeling similarly right now. I'm about 7.5 weeks pregnant right now, and just found out I have TWO healthy embryos. I feel like I'm still in shock. I thought I could handle one... my husband and I have a little money saved up, and our combined incomes could have covered things comfortably. But now with TWINS... My husband has ~3 years left of grad school where he only gets a small stipend and works around 80 hours/week (quitting or working less is not an option for him). I am the main breadwinner, but my salary is about equal to sending two infants to daycare, so it seems like I have to quit! I have no family even remotely close by, and have no idea how a family of 4 could possibly get by on my husband's stipend. I AM SO SCARED! We've always been so careful with our money, but this really threw us for a loop...

momofprincesses - September 15th, 2009 11:00 AM

mixedmessages- Try not to freak out. I already have 3 children, and am now pregnant with twins. Kids are not as expensive as everyone makes them out to be!!! Buy things used off of craigslist, and as for daycare, I really think a home daycare is better for infants. And, it's much cheaper. A home daycare provider will hold your babies 5x as much as a normal daycare would. You can even try to hire a nanny/ au pair- and it is usually cheaper than a normal day care also. If you use formula, and don't qualify for wic, you can buy it off of ebay (it's almost half the cost!) You can make your own baby food (saves soo much money, and tastes soo much better!)
Try to not freak out- it will work out!!!

Hello:) I found out I was having twins when I was 7wks gestation. I am currently 10 weeks pregnant going on my fifth c-sec and my kids being ages 6,4,2, and 1. I am excited to have twins since twins run on my husband's side of the family with his grandma having 3 sets of twins herself. I am looking forward to posting more threads on here after my c-sec, and letting you all know what it is like to have 5 c-sections. :) yey! BABIES RULE! :D
