Congratulations to all of you! I'm sorry to ask another question but did all of you have any early signs or suspicions that you were having twins??

etrowan - May 19th, 2007 11:23 AM

How exciting for everyone (and I'm sure a bit terrifying - lol)! Would you mind telling me how far along you were when you found out it was twins? And how was it discovered - measuring big, doppler, u/s, or other? Thanks - be blessed!

All natural here. 2 girls on the way in October. 21 weeks right now. They are fraternal.

im pg, but more than likely not with twins. although anything is possible :) i'm just wondering if it is possible to have a natural birth with multiples??

samehere - May 30th, 2007 2:14 PM

Yes, it's possible but your chances of a c-section are higher and also a vaginal birth for one and a c-section for the other are possible.

I am 20 weeks pregnant with twins, I conceived naturally with no use of fertility drugs. I am 29 years old and already have a 4 year old boy and a 3 year old girl. I am expecting twin girls! My twins are in seperate sacs with a placenta of their own.

I'm 26 and am 22 weeks with twin boys. I already have a 17 month old boy. Soon to have 3 boys under 2! Yikes...We decided to have our second and last child when my son turned one and after the first attempt, pregnant. I never thought in my life I would have twins (no twins anywhere in my fam nor my husbands). I took a preg test about 7 days before my period was due and there already was a faint plus line. Kinda freaked out that I was really pregnant and worried about how my son (he's the biggest mamas boy) would handle it. Well, at 6 weeks we went to our first appt. where we saw 2 little sacs on the u/s. We were in complete shock and I still have meltdown moments thinking about how we are going to survive the first year. We just got some little boy baby dolls to get my son used to the idea and he threw a fit the first 5 times he saw me holding them, now I think he knows they're fake cause he doesn't seem to care so much. Anyone got some good tips on getting the siblings ready for twins?

Hi mmmon,
Dont worry, I know how your feeling about the whole 'other child' thing, my initial worry was my other two kids. Still being so young my daughter (3) is quite a head strong and the jelous type. We have spoken to both of them recently and explained that we are all going to have 2 more babies soon. We told them that they can help bath them and feed them and that I will need lots of their help. They seemed quite excited about the prospect of me 'needing' them. I also let them feel the babies kicking, I actually play a game where my little boy puts his ear up against my belly and I pretend that the babies are kicking so hard that hey fling his head back.....he laughs his head off. I guess some things work for certain children and not others. Your little boy is still very young, so was my little boy when I had my daughter. He was also 17 months and you will be very suprised how well he adapts. My family had to be very careful not to give my new born daughter all the attention and to conciously involve him in everything when they were around. You will cope fine, I honestly beleive that twins only happen for the mums who can truely handle it. I am very anxious about having 4 under 5 years old, my oldest won't even be in school yet, but I will look back in years to come and know that I did everything that I thougth was right at the time.

First pregnancy... twins... all natural. Now they are a year old! I think its quite common to have twins naturally

hey ladies ? did any of you have any signs of twins before your scan? like dreams of twins anything a long those lines. please help this is my 2nd pregnancy & before i feel pregnant i was having dreams of twins. im not 8 weeks 2 days today no scan yet. & i still keep having twin dreams,. not only that but my horoscope last week was a reoccurring dream will become reality, ahh help. thanks <3

Helen Gaunt - November 26th, 2007 3:53 PM

Kendra.marie. I am 21 weeks pregnant with twins. I went for an ultrasound at 6 weeks because I was having some cramping when I moved suddenly (which I didn't have with my previous 2 pregnancies) The night before the scan I had a dream that I was having twins. I actually walked into the scan the next morning and said to the sonographer 'You arn't allowed to tell me I'm having twins, I had a nightmare last night'. She laughed.......she laughed more when she saw 2 sacs on the screen 2 minutes later. I definately felt different in the begining of this pregnancy, my cloths were getting a bit snug at about 8 weeks. It was a bit daunting at first but now I wouldn't change it for the world. It's amazing how your priorities can change overnight. Good luck!

kendra.marie - November 26th, 2007 3:58 PM

helen your starting to scare me. ahh= any other signs for you. i mean i think i ovulated twice because in sept i got my iud removed doctor told me to be carefully for mutiliples in this time. i didnt care to think it could happen or what not. id love twins & id love one healthy baby also. yah know neither matters. yah my jeans are getting tight already & im 8 weeks at 7 weeks i had to leave them unbuttoned just wearing a belt over the jeans. now im in dress pants. cuz they expand more. & im showing some, eating 24-7. the dreams & all i just want to know my obgyn said no scan till 20 weeks. so i want to go to er but i dont know what to say to get a scan. =[

Helen Gaunt - November 26th, 2007 4:07 PM

Kendra.marie. If you tell your OB that you want the downsyndrome test then you have an ultrasound at anywhere between 12-14 weeks gestation. It's a blood test and then and ultrasound. I was also told that by my OB, but I wanted to make sure both sacs were still there so I opted for the test. I didn't really have any other signs that it was twins, my pregnancy blood test didn't come back any higher than normal which surprised me.

kendra.marie - November 26th, 2007 4:11 PM

really at the down syndrome testing they will do a ultrasound.?

Helen Gaunt - November 26th, 2007 4:14 PM

Yep, it is a blood test, then about 10 days or 2 weeks later they do an ultrasound, they then put the 2 results together to come up with a rating basically. Mine was very low risk.

kendra.marie - November 26th, 2007 4:16 PM

hmm. do u know the name of that testing. cuz i go to my obgyn dec 21 i will be 11 weeks 6 days. & at this time i need to tell if i want these testings; i know they cost extra. but i want to know the name so i can talk about it.
