Lynn-- I think I will take mine in the evening right before bed. Did you have any headaches? I am not bleeding anymore so that is good. I have a little cold and so I am really tired today. I sure hope the clomid gets here by friday so I don't have to worry about it making it in time over the week end. I was wondering if I end up spotting or having a light period due to my mess up with the bcp...should I go ahead and count cd1 as the first day I spot after my last bcp Nov. 8? Cause what if I don't have much of a period anyways on my regular time to have it. Oh...and what about the baby asprin...do I take that after my last clomid or after I ovulate? I can't remember where I read the info on that...do you know what day to start taking it? Thanks....Oh, and I am getting so excited for you! It almost the big "o" day for you maybe:) When do you plan to take a pg test? Are you going to do a home pg test before going into the docs? Are you currently taking otk now? Have a great day!

Concerned mom--- wow, quads! I am so glad they all turned out to be healthy. That must have been scarry to go through all of that and almost lose two of them:( I am sure you ahve a lot on your plate. I hope you have a good support system (family & friends, etc.). I don't want to be rude, it's not my style, but I have listed many of my reasons in the previous posts. I have other life issues that are more personal and I am thankful I have a place to come and chat and have some anonymity. There has been so much investigation and research done by most of the women that want to go this route. I wouldn't worry. For me (I wont speak for others) I know the risks, I am prepared, I have a wonderful support system, I have the ability to deal with things financially, and I have enough space and time to plan for any unforseen issues that may arrise, such as more than twins. I respect your opinion and your feelings regarding this matter. For me... I am mearly cutting out some of the time and frustration from going to a fertility specialist at this time. I am trying things on my own and will take it from there. many of us who would love to have twins are very happy with the idea of just having one...or even having more than two. For many of us we have looked at all the information and risks and statistics and are moving in the direction that we have chosen out of much pondering thought and prayer. I am not trying to be selfish. My circumstances are many and on the lines of having issue for needing the clomid. I have just decided to go this route and if there are ANY complications...I will get medical care. I have done my r/o process and have done physicals/pap smear/ labs and I am ready to go. No one really knows what the life of each other is like unless we are in their shoes. If you are concerned, then I thank you and would appreciate your respect on agreeing to disagree at this time. I sincerely hope that you and your family have a very good support system as it takes a "village" to raise a child. My hat is off to you for your ability to be storng and continue to do all that you can for your family.

Lew--very well said up above! Yep, i am doing the opk, did one this afternoon and not positive yet! Today is cd12--so hopefully friday will be o day!!! I have 5 pregnancy test from earlypregnancytests.com to test with. Last time when I was pregnant I got a positive like 5-6 days past ovulation...barely positive but it kept getting darker line every other day. So I am using them again...I dont know about the aspirin but am fixing to do some research on it. I am excited also, No more headaches, just emotional kindof right now...dont know if its the clomid or not cause usually around o time i get emotional!!! I have heard from reading online that you dont count day one until its a flow. I stopped my period on cd4 when I was taking clomid so I was happy! I spotted the day before I counted cd 1 but it didnt start spotting until evening time!

Lew - November 2nd, 2005 4:48 PM

Lynn--- thanks! FYI on the baby asprin...I have found that it is to help the uterine lining prepare for implantation. Let me know what you find. I have read to count flow day as cd1 as well. I will see how my first day and after go from when I quit bcp. I would rather be safe and take 3-7 even if it was 4-8 instead of 2-6 clomid days, ya know. Looks like you are going to have a bd weekend, LOL:) Best of luck to you!!!!!!! I know this for sure (I have worked in a hospital lab) on the home pg tests, if all are not expired, and no meds to interfere with test results...then if the line is even barely pink...it's a positive! You should have seen me with my first pg...I was doing my own blood draw and running it in the lab every day just to see the number fly!:) I wont be quite that obsessed this time around, lol-but still have many pg home tests to use when the ovulation is done, lol:)
Not to mention I am a stay at home mom and don't have access to a lab anymore, ha ha

BTW- for all that view this thread and are not sure of Lynn and I, and our actions...just know that we have done our research and have made the tough choice and now we just want to enjoy it and bounce things off of one another. Please do not be judgmental. We respect your opinion, but have our own as well and ask that you might be able to respect that as well. I (and I am sure for Lynn as well) post for 1st some companionship with this process, and 2nd to share our experiences with all that are surching for information on the subject. Knowledge is Power! I hope those that are contemplating this choice "to use, or not to use" (clomid) will DO THEIR HOMEWORK! Know the facts and risks and know your body and the risks and all BEFORE making a decision! Be prepared to get medical attention if anything should go wrong so that you are not in danger. Thanks and best of luck to all! And now...with that said...Lynn...lets enjoy the journey!!!!!

Lynn - November 2nd, 2005 7:29 PM

I am very upset right now being that some people on these boards feel that people that take unprescribed clomid are just wanting attention etc.....and that we are doing illegal crap etc....how about how many of them have drank alcohol and drove even if its one drink and had their children in the back seat...how about how many people are on illegal drugs and nobody would ever suspect them!!! People need to look at themselves before accusing others that they really dont know the story of their life...and yes I have seen doctors prescribe clomid to women that already ovulate!!! UUUGGGHHH...anyway, just venting. Lew, I am glad to have an understanding!!!! Oh yeah, and there are people that have twins WITHOUT having to go on bed rest and their babies in nicu!!!

Lynn - November 2nd, 2005 7:31 PM

I meant to say that I am glad you understand!!!

mama-beans - November 2nd, 2005 8:36 PM

I would be first in line to jump all over someones post saying they are druinking and driving, or taking any other illegal drug.... It is ALL risky behavior, illegal behavior, irresponsible behavior that I am against. If your doctor will prescribe it, then go forth with my blessing ( not that you need it.. making a point) but if you are doing it illegally, irresponsibly, and without ANY good reason, then STOP IT! If you really had a good reason, then your doctor would support you.

Multiples Mom - November 2nd, 2005 8:55 PM

Mama-Bean: I have read all your posts and you seem to be the voice of reason. Yes these women are very selfish and I'm sure they'll be looking to the government (WIC, etc.) for assistance in raising these "multiples" they want. They are clueless about what to expect, I don't care how much they "read" and "research". Unless they've visited a NICU and seen the helpless babies in there they really have no idea. And yes most likely your multiples will be born early.
Let's just hope that these offsprings inherit any of there "intelligence". And I use the word "intelligence" loosely.

Lynn - November 2nd, 2005 9:01 PM

Mama-bean,,,did I say you were being irresponsible? Nope sure didnt...I work in a hospital and go by the nicu every day. And not everybody has to have help from the goverment wic etc...Some people are lucky to have the money to support themselves plus kids. So if you spent half your time that you spend critizing others on this website on something more helpful, cause when people have their mind made up..you are not going to change it!!!! People usually do what they want to do!!!

Lynn - November 2nd, 2005 9:04 PM

oh yeah and I was a premature baby also....in a incubator and stayed in the hospital for over 45 days..only weighed 1 1/2 pounds, but was a healthy child and am still healthy today! Thank god for his blessings!

mama-beans - November 2nd, 2005 9:06 PM

but Lynn, you ARE being irresponsible. Taking a drug illegally is irresponsible. Risking the health of an infant is irresponsible. It doesn't matter how much "research" you have done, it is still irresponsible. How can you argue that it isn't??

angrymom - November 2nd, 2005 9:16 PM

just because you were a premie and you came out just fine does not mean you will be so lucky, I know someone who just lost her four month old premie. just a week after they were talking of taking the child home. You are stupid that is all there is to it.

why dont you go check out march of dimes.com and look at some of those babies. read some of their stories.

mama-beans - November 2nd, 2005 9:23 PM

Spend my time on something more helpful??? That really says it all, doesn't it? If I can convince just ONE woman not to take this risk, save just ONE baby from living through ( or dying because of) premature hell, then I find that to be Very...... HELPFUL. Some people come here to get information. It is for those people that I post.

hereyougo - November 2nd, 2005 9:31 PM

My sweet baby girl, Emma, was born on 8/27/05 weighing 1lb 12oz, after I was in the hospital for 29 days trying to keep her in (incompetent cervix). Although I have had 3 m/c's, I carried our first daughter full term without any issues. The I.C. really caught us offguard.

However, Emma came out pink and her lungs were remarkable (thanks to the steriods). She only went on CPAP for a 3 or so hours and stayed on the nasal cannula around the 35% O2 mark. She didn't have a brain bleed. All was going really well, except for the scary apnea spells and the PDA murmur.

Last Friday night when we went to visit, she was VERY ill. The nurse wasn't alarmed, but she looked horrible. Long story short, she had had 2 bloody stools and after we began to complain, tests were run. She had NEC. She was transport to the univ hosp and as hard as they tried, they couldn't save her. She lost her battle at 14 days old nearly to the minute (9/10/05).

I have an awful lot of questions about NEC. If you can help me sort this out, please post. I can't help but feel like it should have been caught sooner. I'm not sure it would have saved her since her case was so severe, but I have unanswered questions. Also, were they feeding her too much 5cc/hr at 13 days old? Did the human milk fortifier she received for the first time on Friday send her little body over the edge? Why did we have to raise the red flag that night? She had 11cc's of green residual on her stomach. They treated her PDA, but didn't stop feedings. Is this standard?

My son was born at 27 weeks, 5 days last October. He has Chronic lung disease, had pneumonia in the early days at the NICU. He is still on nasal cannula. Though he takes his feeding from bottle, he gets tired after 10-15 min or so and quits feeding. The doctors say this is because of his lung problem that he couldn't go on well. Also, he has reflux which makes the feeding worse. So, they are suggesting for a gastrostomy tube (G-tube) for him so that he could conserve his energy to grow better lungs and eventually can do his own feeding by mouth. We are not sure if we would want to go for a surgery on a small baby like him or continue to feed him through gavage while working slowly on his nippling.

My son Jayden was born 2 weeks ago at 27 weeks. After a sonogram on his brain the doctors told us that he had bleeding on the brain (Stage 3 bleeding). We are told that this is significant bleeding and that Jacould have significant learning disabilities or even death.
My son J was born 2 weeks ago at 27 weeks. After a sonogram on his brain the doctors told us that he had bleeding on the brain (Stage 3 bleeding). We are told that this is significant bleeding and that J could have significant learning disabilities or even death.

My triplets were born at 24w3d on August 21, 2005. Believe it or not the dr.'s are very amazed by how well they are doing. Only 2 have needed PDA surgery. Right now all three have pnemonia but are responding nicely to the the antibiotics. The oldest triplet, A, was on a CPAP for 8 days before she got too tired. She was only 26 weeks old at the time. The other two, B and C, both pulled their own tubes so they tried the CPap on each for 3 hours before they got too tired. All in all, we are amazed at our little miracles and are pleased with their progress.

there are lots of other ones. just go to march of dimes and see for yourself.

Lynn - November 2nd, 2005 9:43 PM

Lecture, lecture lecture....didnt do me any good did it! Well, I am not saying that just because I turned out ok means that all premature babies are ok. There are much worse things that I could be doing than taking unprescribed clomid. So with that said, I still believe what I have always believed, once someone has made their mind up you are not going to change it. So please leave me and lew on this thread alone. Thanks!
