Hearthorpe,

I've been researching if it would be detectable in the blood and how long to wait before going for bloods, as I too don't want doc to know about using it. I have read that taking Fertomid 25mg, is only traceable in the blood for upto 50 days then becomes almost untraceable. Saying that, they have to actually be looking for it in the blood to find it anyway, so you should be ok. I'm going start taking mine next week when Af arrives. I can't decide when to start, day 3-7 or 5-9. I've been considering this for almost a year and have done some research. If/when I get a BFP I'll probably wait a while before advising doc of pregnancy. If I decide to wait about 50 days, I will probably tell doc when I'm about 7-8 weeks. The first scan offered here is at 12-13 weeks so it wont matter that I've waited. I am really nervous but adamant that I will start next week. My age is getting on and I also have some health issues too.

Which brand of Clomid will you be taking? If you have any other questions, I will try and help as much as I can. Good Luck

LindaS - October 18th, 2008 12:09 PM

hearthope, you are welcome :) Yes, I completed my first round in the first few days of October. I took 50 mg of clomid u/p. Instead of taking it for the 5 days, I actually took it for 6 days. I started on CD 3 through CD 8. I am waiting to see if I'll get a BFP this month. On September 27th, we suffered yet another loss early on...right after AF would have been due...just days late for it, I started bleeding and my positive tests and symptoms turned into negative and no symptoms at all. This is our 18th cycle trying to conceive. First clomid cycle. I know I O'd on both sides, however, I'm not sure if we had success even with all the BD'ing we did.....time will tell :)
I took the meds first thing in the AM each day. I really had no s/e but did suffer from horrible cramps for about a week straight and continue to have pinching pain/twinges. I am 10 DPO today.

Hi abrilmac and LindaS, I really appreciate what you two are doing for me answering my questions. Let me tell you a litle about me... I got my clomid u/p in february and when I was going to take, I found out that I was pg and later I knew that it was of twins. So, I have one round of clomid 50mg left at home and also, I still can take a refil until next february. I had a early laber in july and my 2 boys even with life, didnt make it after a few minutes. So, thats why I dont think my dc will be happy if he knows that I took clomid trying to have twins again. And I really dont want him to know. I guess I will have to wait 8 weekes after I know that I'm pr and go to see him. My heart still crys a lot, but I want to try get pg again. I cant wait. Lucky for all of us!!!!!!

Hi girls! I'm new to this board but have been researching fertility drugs for quite some time. I want to take Clomid to increase my chances of having twins. Because of ovary hyper-stimulation side effects I plan on taking it for a maximum of three cycles but will hopefully get pregnant before that :) I really hope to get pregnant with twins but will be more than ecstatic with whatever I am blessed with and do pray for a healthy pregnancy, labor/delivery and baby/babies. I know that even after Clomid the twin percentage will only increase up to 10% but I would rather have this than later beat myself with the “coulda, shoulda, woulda”. My cycles are pretty regular but I am still going to wear an OV-Watch to track ovulation and best days to bd. I’m expecting AF to show up this Sunday. I will then take Clomid 100 mg on CD2-6. I also plan on taking Mucinex (600 mg Guaifenesin) from CD7 until I ovulate. I’m also contemplating using progesterone cream after ovulation until I get BFP but I am not 100% sure of that yet. For the past two months I have been taking Nature Made Multi Pre-Natal Vitamins, Nature Made Super B-Complex with Vitamin C and Folic Acid, Spring Valley CoQ10 100g and Spring Valley Omega 3 Fish Oil 1000 mg.
Anyone else TTC Twins?

aprilmac - October 21st, 2008 7:49 PM

Hi Hearthope, I'm so sorry for the loss of your twins. May God give you the strength to get through the very hard times. I hope that the clomid works for you on your first go and that you will be blessed with a baby/babies in the new year. I understand why you would not want the doc to know about taking the pills, I too think the same.

Julix, Hello and welcome. Is this your first time taking clomid? The reason I ask is, if it is, then have you considered taking a lower dose to begin with just to see how your body would react to it? You didn' t mention that you had taken it before, but if your body is already ovulating, then maybe taking 100mg on the first go maybe be too much.
From the reasearch I've done, I did read somewhere that the mg amount also has a baring on over stimulation, not just the length of time you take it. You may find that you only need a little more stimulation to get the two eggies. Wearing an OV watch should help to determine O time, but just beware that I also read somewhere that taking Clomid can effect the LH surge that is needed to detect OV. I also wish that you are blessed as soon as possible with a double bundle.

I am in my late 30's and have looked into taking Fertomid 25mg for quite a while. I already have children but 1 or 2 more to complete my family. This will be cycle 34 for me, so I'm starting to get impatient with the "waiting for something to happen" thing. Hubby is very old fashioned and because of male pride will not go and get his sperm tested. His view is that if we can't get pregnant naturally, then he won't be pursuing it any further. I've also been tracking my ovulation and it doesn't look like I'm ovulating each month. This is why I'm starting u/p Fertomid 25mg within the next few days. Still haven't decided which day to start yet.
I also have some health issues that make this process even harder for me as well as my age. I'm on CD 3 today (tues) and am thinking that tomoro might be a good day to start. I got my Ovulation predictor strips today in the post, and I'm all set to start. Babydust to all and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that we are all blessed!!! Anyone got any suggestions?

Julix - October 21st, 2008 9:15 PM

Thanks aprilmac! This would be my first cycle. The OV-Watch measures the Chloride Ion Level (not LH) so taking Clomid will not interfere with the readings. I hope it increases my chances since I’ll know about ovulation four days prior. Sorry to hear about your long wait. I do hope Fertomid works for you. Besides Fertomid, are you taking anything else? Hang in there and keep us posted. Baby dust! Baby dust! Baby dust!

aprilmac - October 22nd, 2008 9:12 PM

Thanks Julix, I am on CD4 today and even thought about taking it starting today but bailed out at the last minute. I am scheduled to start taking it tomorrow. I've read that taking it during the night makes the side effects a little more berable, so I guess I'll take it just before bed and hope for the best. Other than False Unicorn Root, which is suppose to condition and strengthen the uterus, Multi vitamins, B6, folic acid & metformin. I got a delivery of my ovulation test strips today so am looking forward to start using them in a few days. I know they may not work but I've got the ultra sensitive ones so maybe I'll get lucky. Even if they don't work, it gives me a chance to pee on something whilst I'm waiting for that BFP. Sending you lots and lots of Babydust too, let's hope this is a lucky month for us all.

Julix - October 23rd, 2008 12:35 PM

Hello aprilmac – YES! This is going to be a lucky month for all of us! I’ll keep praying and sending lots of good energy and baby dust! I really believe that when we try something together, as a grou, the team energy is so high and positive that results are better. Many people take it before going to bed and I plan on doing the same. Let’s hope we don’t get any s/e  Test strips are great to check o, especially the ones you got. Do you also temp? I’ll be wearing an OV-Watch starting on CD-1 and am thinking about temping too. Talk to you later…

deysir - October 23rd, 2008 1:07 PM

julix- where do you buy clomix and does it comes with intructions

Julix - October 24th, 2008 9:50 AM

deysir - If you have a prescription you can get it from any pharmacy (generic sells at Wal-Mart for $5). You can also buy it from several online pharmacies (I got mine from mexmeds, instruction are in Spanish but are very vague so I recommend you research prior to taking it). Some of these sites sell their national brands and they may look different. Just be sure to buy form a reliable source. Online costs range from $25 to $35 plus shipping and it usually takes 2 weeks to arrive.

hopeful4two - October 24th, 2008 10:08 AM

Let me first say hello and good luck to everyone!! I am not trying to concieve for a little while now but I am trying to get as much information as possible before I decide to start. I have decided to start with 75 mg clomid on CD2-6. What do I do after that? I wish there was just a laid out plan on what days and times to do what from someone who succeeded in getting pregnant with twins!! LOL. That would be so much easier. Can anyone advise me please!!

Julix - October 24th, 2008 3:46 PM

Hello hopeful4two! I am relatively new to this but did a lot of research (we never know too much though so I am sure I still have lots to learn). I’ll be starting my first cycle of Clomid tomorrow (CD2) and here is what I plan on doing:
1)Wear OV-Watch while asleep and temp every morning to predict o (starting tonight),
2)Take Clomid 100mg at night on CD2-6,
3)Take Mucinex on CD7 until o,
4)Take Baby Aspirin on CD8 until BFP and wait for doc recommendation,
5)Use Natural Progesterone cream AFTER o until BFP (stop if I get BFN),
6)BD will depend on what OV-Watch predicts but I’ll try to do it on fertile days 2, 3, 4 and 5,
7)Use Pre-Seed lubricant when bd,
8)Pray, pray, pray, and pray!
9)Post progress in order to help everyone on these boards.
I’m also paying extra attention to my pelvic exercises and dropping the abs just for the fertile week. I never read anything to justify this but I just know how my body feels when I get too crazy on those abs exercises. I’ll keep my regular exercise routine though. I hope that helps. This is a very helpful board and the girls here are SUPER knowledgeable, caring and loving so I’m sure everyone will be more than happy to answer your questions and help anyway they can.
Girls – Please add your comments/suggestions.
Sending lots of positive energy and baby dust to everyone!!!

Hi aprilmac and Julix, Im sorry, I went away for a couple days. I really cant wait to take my first round of clomid but I also feel like afraid too. I was going to take this month, I just had my first day of my period today and this looks perfect to take the clomid in my 5th day but I can tell you that I am really afraid. I think I will wait until next month. Im not afraid to take the clomid because Im sure I will do this anyway but because I think thats still to early after the lost of my babies back in july. I dont know!!!!!! Not talking about my mind but my body, I dont know if I should wait more, can one of you tell me how long is good to wait until try again? My husband was married years ago and his ex wife lost a baby too and now I lost two, so he lost 3 babies and he really wants me to get pg and I want this so much too but I guess I am so so afraid that it can happens again. Well, I pray for all of us. For you aprilmac and for you too Julix. We will for sure have our baby or ours babies. God Bless all of us.

LindaS - October 25th, 2008 7:22 PM

Hearthope, I m/c'd on September 27th, and started taking my first round of clomid on September 30th (CD 3 thru 7). The only reasons that a physician will tell you to wait is for emotional healing. If you feel comfortable, you should be able to start on this cycle as long as you don't have any complications that prevent you from starting the meds. I'm sorry for your loss ((HUGS)). Good luck and may you be blessed in your journey with positive outcomes :)

aprilmac - October 25th, 2008 7:22 PM

Hi gals, hope you are all doing ok and getting ready to give it a go? I, myself started taking Fertomid 25mg a few days ago. I am today (Sat) on CD6 and day 3 taking Fertomid.
I haven't had any symptoms as yet. I got some slight dizziness on day 1 & 2 of taking it and nothing much today. I am taking a low dosage so maybe that could be the reason for this. I must admit a part of me is thinking that maybe it won't work this month due to the low dosage, but am praying this won't be the case. I am taking on days 5-9 to achive a healthy egg ( a part of me hopes for it to turn into a double, but I will be happy if I am only blessed with one). As my age is a concern and I have a health issue this could very well be my last pregnancy (have already had two sections).

Julix, because of my health issue temping wont work for me, so other than opk's and the vitamins i'm taking I don't have any other help. I read your list of what you will be doing, and you seem to have thought of everything to control your cycle to achive pregnancy. It looks great to me! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly for you. Please keep us updated as soon as you start taking your clomid.

Hopeful4two, I too wish there was a chart giving us the right info about what, when and how long to take it. Although reading some stories ( I don't know that they are acurate in anyway) there seems to be a pattern of the earlier it's taken the more eggs are produced. Therefore, going on your hopes to have two, you would be right in starting on day 2.

Hearthope, I hope you enjoyed your few days off, sometimes it's so important to just get away for a few days. My cousin was pregnant with twins a few years ago, I think she lost the babies at around 20 weeks in March. She was pregnant again by August of the same year and went onto having a healthy baby. I know it's easy for me to say as I haven't been through it, but just because it happened once, it doesn't mean it will happen again. I think you should wait till you are comfortable with starting, there is no hard rule, just when you feel ready.

I'm wishing all you ladies lots of luck and babydust in the hope that we will all concieve our baby/babies very very soon!

Remember to keep us all updated!
