hi - i am new here. i am 37 and have conceived on my own (on birth control) twice before - a singleton girl in 2000 and identical twin girls in 2003. sadly my twins had TTTS and were born at 23 weeks, one stillborn. my surviving twin is a normal healthy 5 year old now, thank God. i would like to try to conceive another set of twin - not to replace my little angel, nothing can ever do that, but i really feel like it would heal my heart a bit to have a successful twin pregnancy. some of the ladies on here have said they took unprescribed clomid, and i am wondering if they can advise of a reputable place to get it, what dosage to use...do you think i have a chance of twins? i will be happy with anything i get, but am really hoping for two! oh, and what does "CD" "DPO" "BFP" etc mean?! sorry - not used to computer (fertility) lingo! thanks for all your help! good luck to all of you - wishing everyone healthy babies!

Hello Lisajanelle & Kay08, welcome to our little corner of the world.

Lisajanelle, I'm sorry to hear the loss of your twin, I cannot imagine how heartbreaking that must have been. It's amazing that your other twin is doing so well with her older sister. The chances of you concieving twins again would probably be high, as you have already had one set. but because each pregancy is different, it wouldn't be a definate. There are companies that sell clomid on the net, some require a perscription and some don't. It all depends on where you live and what the countries laws are on getting them through customs. I would think to start with a low dose would be advisable as you would not want to overstimulate your ovaries which could cause OHSS (Over hyper stimulation syndrome). If you google 'unprescribed clomid', you will get the list of companies that sell them.
CD = Cycle Day (CD1 is the first day of your period)
BFP = Big Fat Positive (positive pregnancy test)
BFN = Big Fat Negative (negative pregnancy test)
DPO = Days Past Ovulation (number of days past ovulation)
BD = (baby dancing, having sex).

Kay08, I'm very much like you, this is my 3rd attempt at Fertomid. I was taking 25mg per day for 5 days and in two cycles nothing has happened. This month I have increased my dose to 50mg per day and am taking it on days 3-7 of my cycle (currently on CD6). Other than testing with ovulation strips and BDing on the right dates theres nothing else that I can think of. How many mg are you taking? and when?.

Wishing you both lots and lots of luck, and hoping we will get some BFP's soon. X

Hi aprilmac, hope ur ok and thanx for the advice. | also took 25mg (days 5-9)for 5days now im thinking i should try 50mg. I get really bad mood swings, sometimes i get angry really easily and i would take it out on my hubby. i also get minor headaches and cramp pains, never new dat much would affect u. do u get any side effects?

aprilmac - December 21st, 2008 10:15 PM

Hi Kay08, Yes I did notice some side effects when I took it for the first time. I got some dizziness, mild headaches, peeing a lot, some bloating and a little ovary pain, both when taking it and during ovulation. I was taking the tablets just before breakfast. I will be taking my last day of 50mg tomorrow morning and so far, other than a couple of headaches, very very mild ovary pain & peeing I haven't had any other symptoms. I thought taking twice the dose would have given me heavier symptoms but it hasn't. I too have been loosing my temper occasionally, but I do try and stop myself, which doesn't always work.

I'm not sure when you are taking your tabs, I have read that taking them just before bed is a good way to lessen the effect of any symptoms, although I'm not sure if it works for everyone. I hope it does for you. Which country are you in? I'm in the UK. Which CD are you on? Wishing babydust all round *******babydust*********

aprilmac - December 30th, 2008 8:45 PM

Hi Kay08, I hope you had a good xmas and are getting ready for a great new year. I'm struggling this month, for some reason my DH seems to have adopted a "don't care" attitude this month and it's annoying the hell out of me. I've either ovulated already this month or am about to ovulate in the next day or two and DH "can't be bothered". I'm really scared now that I've missed my opotunity this cycle and had decided that I will give it a miss for the next few cycles to give myself a break from the fertomid. I have half promised myself that if I don't conceive by April I'm going to give up and start birth control. TTC has really taken it's toll on my mental state, it's been 36 months. I don't mean to be down, but I cannot help myself, I'm starting to realise that maybe I'm just not suppose to have another child, and this makes me very very sad. I hope that you are having good luck in your attempts and hope that you will have good news and hope for us all this cycle. Wishing all our ladies a very happy New Year XX Babydust to all.

Update and warning! It has been a couple weeks since my last post, but I have been a little too depressed to say anything yet, but I felt I need to now to warn some of you of what can happen on clomid. I ended up in the emergency room because I was having severe pain and heavy bleeding that lasted for 2 weeks. My biggest fear was an ectopic pregnancy, but now I wish that had been all it was. It turns out the clomid not only left me with a huge cyst on one ovary, but I now have massive uterine fibroid tumors that have distorted my uterus to the point that it is highly unlikely I will ever get pregnant now. This happened very suddenly, not after prolonged use of clomid. This was my 4th round of clomid and my highest dose was 100 mg this last round. The previous cycles were monitored and no fibroids were seen, so this was a complete surprise. So now I am obviously off the clomid and praying that the tumors will diminish with new treatment, but plans for a baby seem to be out the window for now, if not for good.

If you are on clomid, especially without a doctors strict supervision, please, please be careful. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. I am just devastated.

Julix- Congratulations have a Happy & Healthy 9 months! Where did you get your 100mg of clomid from? Is the clomid on medsmex.com are the real thing? I am thinking about ordering from them.

Luna2008 - December 31st, 2008 8:58 PM

hello everyone
i am back to this subject again...i have been on a hoilday in Australia and didn't want to stress myself over this at that time...
hearthope thank you for checking on me i have read the information about clomid but still don't understand how to use it..for example if i am trying to conceive in february does that that mean i have to take clomid on the first day of my period of the the previous month or in other words the last period i would get before trying to coneive?

hope you found out your HCG and good luck with your pg

aprilmac - January 2nd, 2009 9:00 AM

ccusack, I'm so very sorry for what has happened to you. I will keep you in my prayers (may God give you strength) and wish that your recovery is very quick one.

Julix, If you still pop into this board give us an update, it's always to inspiring to hear of success stories. Good Luck X

Krissy68, how are you doing? we haven't had an update in a while.

Luna2008, welcome back, I hope you had a great holiday! As for when to take the clomid, If for example your next AF is due 20th Jan then it will mean that you would conceive in February. You would need to start taking the clomid on which ever day you have decided to take it (1-5 upto 5-9) starting with your cycle on the 20th Jan. Your estimated next cycle would start on 20th February and would mean that conception would occurr in March. I hope this helps, when is your next AF due date?
Also, you asked about which days to start taking it. I think the later you take it (days 5-9 of your cycle) you develop healthier eggs and the earlier you take it (days 1-5 of your cycle) the more eggs you produce. So you would need to assess which is more suitable to you. I think that starting days 5-9 on the lowest dose of 50mg is what most doctors recommend for their patients to start on. Please keep in mind that all this information is an assumption on the research that most of us ladies have individually done, and none of it should be taken as medical advice.

ttc2009baby, hello and welcome to the board, I hope you have a short wait for your BFP.

Hearthope, how are you doing? we haven't heard from you in a while, I hope everything is well, give us an update when you get a minute.

Kay08, Hey girlie did you forgive and make up with DH? It sounds like you are still in with a chance if you were only on CD12, unless you know you ovulated early? I checked ovulation strips and got a dark + on Wednesday morning and so BD in the night. I'm hoping that it did the trick, but will not be holding my breath. The same thing happened last month and I was very disapointed with the neg result. I already have children, but want another 1 or 2 more to add to my family. I'm nearing 40 and I'm not sure if my body can handle it anymore. I hope it's not too late.

I'd like to wish all you ladies a happy, healthy and successful 2009, may you all be blessed with babies of your dreams. XXX Babydust all round XXX
