mama-bean - September 24th, 2005 11:14 AM

Jasmine..now where did you get the idea that I don't have children?? I have actually been quite active on other threads concerning my daughter and birth experience, etc. As far as business... not that it is any of your business, but my home office is located in the fastest growing city in the NorthWest. Real Estate in this area is appreciating at a whopping 25% to 30% each YEAR. Yes, I sure am a busy girl!! HOWEVER, my office is at home, so between client calls, open housses, and play time with my wee one, I get to spend a few minutes here and there reading your very INTERESTING posts. As far as this all not concerning me.... that just proves, with that one statement, that you really DON'T get what you are doing. The availability of this drug ( in the US)is at risk because of unprescribed use. Not sure where you live, but the repracussions of your actions will directly affect me if you have too many children because of hyper-stimulated ovaries and have to rely on the State to support you. As a tax payer and voter, um, YES, this is my business. It is everyones business. Combine with all that the negative stigma associated with LEGAL fertility drugs because of your actions ( large groups of children in poor families.... mama wanted twins so ordered illegally and without doctors knowledge, gets pregnant with 5, goes on state aid) and it really makes anyone being in a "have to" state as far as these drugs HARD. Imagine telling co-workers that you are trying to conceive..... every month they ask "are you?" and you have to say no... finally YEARS pass, and they ask "are you, why not?" and you reply "hopefully! We're on fertility meds......." and then you get the pleasure of hearing a lecture on the dangers of fertility treatments... even though the info that THEY have is on women who take meds WITHOUT doctors consent. Um, so, YES, it IS my business.

Julie - September 24th, 2005 1:17 PM

You'll be able to get your meds no matter how many people use it unprescribed...if you need it and a doctor prescribes it. A doctor will always be able to get a hold of it, or something like it, if a patient needs it. So, you're exagerating things just a bit. It will NEVER get like you're saying. If you really need fertility meds, your doctor will give them to you. That is the bottom line. There will always be something around, to help people in that field...Science is just beginning. It might get harder for people to get it unprescribed...but not for people with a doctor looking for it. So, really, you're using lame excuses to interject your feelings (based on jealousy that you or others need the drug, and these people don't)...which by the way, WE GET. We know that there are people that feel like that everywhere, but we don't. That's the great thing about America...you can do what you want! Everybody is different, and believes in different things. Good Luck to everyone trying! Happy Weekend to all of you!

To mama-bean, I have been following this board and a few times you have mentioned your tax implications from other's multiple births. Perhaps I missed something Jasmine mentioned in another post but I don't know why you assume that she would need state aid if she conceived multiples. I know SEVERAL families with 6 or even 8 children who are doing just fine financially. In fact I know no one on state aid. Why are you so bitter about helping less fortunate families than yours anyways (regardless of how many children they have)?

mama-bean - September 24th, 2005 7:08 PM

I have no problem helping the less fortunate.... People who need the aid should use it. HOWEVER, if someone who normally wouldn't need the aid suddenly gets pregnant with, say, QUADS, well, the HUGE expense involved with birthing/raising these children would most definately push someone towards State Aid... taking money away from people who didn't ASK for this problem. You can argue for all you want. Go ahead. STILL doesn't change the fact that the act is illegal, immoral, and just plain WRONG. and it really angers me that y'all keep usint the " I'm a bitter infertile" card. PUH-LEASE. I would feel this strongly even if it wasn't ME that was infertile. I am not bitter about how things turned out for me, not at all! If I hadn't had to do all the extra effort, I wouldn't have the beautiful little girl I have now.... it would have been some other child. I just have a few extra hoops to jump through if I want to build a family. No big deal, really. The issue I have is when people are so short sighted that they are willing to do something illegal and potentially harmful just to achieve that goal. I've read through many of these posts.. a lot of ladies don't have insurance, that's why they don't go through their doctor. If you can't afford insurance, HOW are you going to afford to raise these children in the manner that they are due?? Many more of you are just children yourselves, and think twins or multiples would be "fun". There are even some women who are doing this because their husbands don't want more then one child, so they are taking unprescribed fert. meds behind the hubbies back so that they get more then one child in the house. LOOK WHAT YOU ARE SUPPORTING!!! A person who could afford multiples could also afford to find a specialist willing to prescribe them the meds to help them on their way. Period.

mama-bean - September 24th, 2005 9:35 PM

thank you yas2000. You prove my point exactly. I see that YOU are ashamed of why YOU want multiples... as you didn't answer that question, and the ladies that were proud of their reason, no matter the reason, did respond. Yep. I feel point was proven.

To mama-bean - September 24th, 2005 11:27 PM

Give it a rest! Stop lurking on these boards and trying to criticize the women on here that want to have multiples. It is none of your business whether or not someone wants to risk taking unprescribed clomid in the hopes of having multiples. In the end people are going to do what the want to do and if they are that determined then words of criticism coming from a STRANGER will make no difference to them. They will make their own decisions. Keep your negativity to yourself.

mama-bean - September 24th, 2005 11:33 PM

See, the cool thing is this board is titled "Twins and Multiple Birth". You will notice that it is not titled " Women who want twins, Women who are pregnant with Twins" etc. It is simply for all topics relating to twins and multiple birth. I would hazard a guess that having an opinion on illegal drug use and twins would fall under that category... as this board is for the express purpose of sharing your opinions and experiences. So um, no. I won't be leaving any time soon. You know, if any of you actually explained why you do this instead of just "bla bla bla"ing away all the contradictory comments, this could be a pleasant and enlightening experience for all. But no, most of you just don't work that way. Aparently it's your way or no way. Hate to disappoint you, but when you make a decision that affects everyone, everyone has the right to voice their opinion.

i'm with the mama - September 24th, 2005 11:47 PM

Like, no duh. I'm with the bean. That would be the definition of a public forum. A person need not even be a woman type person to get on here and state an opinion. By the way mama-bean, I'm beginning to think, through my reading of various threads on this site, that yas2000 is a 17 year old who has just scored her first puppy love and is trying to get him to stick around. Don't let her get to ya, girl. Keep fighting for truth, justice and the American way!!!

mama-bean - September 24th, 2005 11:53 PM

Why thank you, "i'm"! I will!

Sue.RN - September 25th, 2005 8:01 AM

I agree... I can't believe that someone would actually BRAG that she has illegal clomid... People need to understand, Clomid is for people who need it to conceive, not for women and their vanity desire to have twins. In nursing this is called fantasy baby vs reality baby. Some of these women cannot let go of this "fantasy baby" and will stop and no means to get that. I'll be happy with one...

mama-bean - September 25th, 2005 11:02 AM

Sue R.N. - "Fantasy Baby" ... that is a very interesting piece of information! Didn't realize there was a medical term for all of this! Thanks for the input!

YAS2000 - September 25th, 2005 12:45 PM

SUE...WOMAN WHO TAKE UNPRESCRIBED CLOMID DO STOP AT SOMETHING.(THE WOMEN YOU REFER TO ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE SERIOUS FERTILTIY PROBLMES BUT INTENSE DESIRES TO HAVE AT LEAST ONE CHILD) IT DOESNT, I AM AFREAID REFER TO US LOT....IF THE CLOMID DOESNT WORK, IF THE CLOMID CAUSES PROBLEMS...WE ALL KNOW WHERE WE DRAW THE LINE...
PLUS. ...THERE IS NO SUCH MEDICAL TERM AS AS A 'FANTASY BABY' (MY SISTER IS A NURSE) (MAYBE THERE IN THE STATES BUT THEN ALOT OF THINGS GO THERE) IT IS JUST A WORD TO DECRIBE THE DESIRE OF 'A' BABY!!!SO IN THIS CONTEXT ITS NOTHING MORE THAN THAT. ITS NOT REFERRED TO CLOMID WITHOUT PRECRIPTION BABIES..SO PUH-LEASE MAMA BEAN DONT GET TOO EXCITED ABOUT THIS NEW ADDITION TO YOUR VOCABULARY!!LOL!!!

YAS2000 - September 25th, 2005 12:54 PM

Jasmine - September 25th, 2005 1:13 PM

Mama-bean, thanks for your input but it's not needed anymore. My "Illegal" drug use wont affect you, whether it produces twins, triplets, singleton or an elephant....I'm in Australia and things work REALLY differently here.

crazy beater comments - September 25th, 2005 3:48 PM

I read this forum often because dh and I are TTC and he's an identical twin, twins run in our family, and I've been curious about twin pregnancies etc. The posts have been interesting and informative, but I have to make 1 comment in reference to woman and their "christian" talk.
Where in the Bible does it say "women should use modern 21st century medicine to make babies?"
You have science to thank.
