Hi everyone, wow I read this all today, and lemme say there is a lot of info...and fighting. LOL Well, I am just requesting information....I want to know the same thing as Whitley, does taking Clomid days 3-7 increase risk of twins? Thanks for the info.
PS you can have ANY # of follicles on any fertility drug, so if the one lady says she had 7, I would not be hasty to judge she is lying. When I did a donor cycle for someone a while back, I got 40 follicles, with 28 viable eggs. That is ALOT even for an IVF cycle but it still happened. My recipient got pg first try....I just want to know FOR ME how to increase my chances of twins. Any help or info or even success stories would be great! Thanks
Lynn

Some time the doctor won't give clomid because what is the cost is. Maybe the insurance didn't cover it. So people it and get pregnant and can afford it still. Some people didn't Ask for twins. I know someone that had twins. Didn't take any meds. Yes it hard at first like any normal time. You can manage it. If not There are people that give up their one child. They couldn't afford it. I see nothing wrong if you want more than one child. Being adopted put family first. That is the main rule. When taken into a froster home. It's tuff leaving in a strange home. With strangers and how you get treated. I am adopted and I am glad I had my sister with me. To help me through everything. I am youngest of four. My other brother and sister didn't grew up so lucky. I would want my family to know each other. To grew up were they can still turn to each other! To Have that special bond. If someone have twins. There is more to love and they would have each other.

My doctor said I should try clomid but my insurance didn't cover it. I did ovulate but my period was very odd. Like cycle 25-38. So it was hard to pin point everything. My doctor said cycle more than 38 days an't normal? I don't know about this. Yes I got clomid and my doctor gave me the ok. I got the med in Canda because my insurance didn't cover this! It's worth it If I get pregant.

Sarah... Most insurance companies don't cover fertility treatments. If you pay full price for a month of Clomid, it is only $30 ( 50mg) so you can use your prescription and go purchase it legally if you would like to use it! Glad you discussed with your doctor! That is the most important thing.

Hi, I just happened to find this board and wanted to give you my take on this subject. I took clomid, 50 mg for one month (I obtained it from my fertility doctor). I conceived triplets who are now 22 months. It is VERY difficult and the pregnancy with was difficult. We were told the risk was small for HOM and we still got triplets. We are struggling financially. Just because we got 3 kids at once doesn't mean that we qualify for WIC or public assistance. Just think things through before you WISH for multiples.

Hello all!
I have been reading all the posts and I am excited to see that others feel the same as I do. I am 35 and feel that time is running out due to going into perimenopause at age 32. I used to have normal every 28 day cycles and then starting at age 32 things started to change...this year my periods started being every 21 days and a few months ago I had two periods back to back (not one long one) I also bleed longer and heavier. I got on the pill two months ago and then my husband and I have decided to go ahead and get pg again. But we would like to have 2 more and because when I nurse, I don't have a period until the day I stop nursing and then I had one 3 days after that. We have two children and we were trying to get pg while I was finnishing nursing our first and nothing, until after that first period after 13 months of nursing ( I loved not having a period that long, but here is my dilemma... we want to have two more children and with me not getting any younger and with the perimenopause and then with the long time before having a period after nursing...we want to try for twins and get it done at once. I have researched all the facts and risks, and we are fine with the chance for more than two, but because of how doctors wont look at your circumstances and only will perscride clomid if you can't ovulate this has led me to this post site and now going to get some clomid and give it a go at that). We have not tried to get pg and my youngest is now 5 1/2...I sure hope I have no problems. I have really enjoyed reading the posts and it has given my husband and I some hope. I will be greatful with how ever many I get (one or more)...I just hope I don't have a hard time getting pg. We will give it a go! Just waiting for the clomid to get here! By the way...anyone do the birthcontrol pill for a short time and then start clomid right after last pill cycle and have good results? Or, should I do a cycle with clomid but wait to try and then on second cycle with clomid go for it? Any thoughts? Thanks and good luck to us all!!!

Hi everyone. I am on cd 5 today and have started taking clomid 50mg 3-7 unprescribed. So far so good on side effects. I know that there are risks etc and please do not lecture me on it. Everyone is able to do research and decide for themselves. Hopefully everything will turn out ok(even if I only have one baby) Lots of baby dust for everyone!!!

Lew--I have been off bcp since september 21 2005. I waited one full cycle before starting clomid.

Lew - October 26th, 2005 4:58 PM

Thanks for the response Lynn. Did you get info supporting waiting one full cycle before starting the clomid... or did you use your judgement on that? I wish you luck on your clomid round...keep me posted! I hope you have the results you are wanting. My clomid should get to me in 10-21 days (unperscribed as well).

Lynn - October 26th, 2005 7:14 PM

I just had to wait to get the clomid and was busy doing research before that...so thats why I waited one cycle. I will be ovulating around nov3-4 so the countdown is on!!!! :)

Lew - October 26th, 2005 9:55 PM

well I just checked out some more info on the web...gotta love the internet! Knowledge is power! I read in two postings (can't remember the sites) that you can actually be more fertile right after getting off the pill cause your body is still in hormone limbo ( I have always thought that it can take up to a year after getting off the pill...but maybe that is long term use)...anyways... I will give clomid a try in a few weeks (the only reason I got on the pill again (just two months so far, and ending soon) was because my cycles were getting way out of wack and tired of the longer, heavier and closer together periods. So Lynn... we might be around the same schedule for getting pg...hope it works for us and twins is even better!

Lynn - October 27th, 2005 7:17 AM

The first time I was pregnant with identical twins was right off the bcp. but i miscarried them. then one week after d & c i was pregnant again. Now have a daughter that is 17 months old. It would be great if we both got pregnant at the same time!!!!!! Then we could keep track of progress through pregnancy!!!!! Are you still on bcp or not?

Lew - October 27th, 2005 8:38 AM

yep...bcp ends on the 8th (but I might make it just a tad sooner if clomid gets here soon (like around the 5th) keep me posted on how you are doing...I will do the same! Happy Halloween to all!

Lynn - October 27th, 2005 10:31 AM

I stopped my bcp in middle of pack...but af didnt show up until 5 days after stopping it...(i know weird huh?) I will kup!!!

Lew - October 27th, 2005 3:57 PM

Hey Lynn,
LOL...we are so impatient, huh. I have a Q re: 50mg or 100mg...I have high levels of estrogen, and so I will have a lot of competing with the receptor sites and so I was thinking of going ahead with 100mg. I hear that it doesn't increase your chances...ok, but my issue is will I have too much estrogen and not enough clomid to compete for the sites, and we want to block the estrogen...right? what do you think? I am leaning towards trying 100mg right off the bat and then go down to 50 mg if nothing happens (just thought a higher does might keep the "estrogen gals" away from the sites in the old noggin) What is your take on that? Thanks...and I am sorry you lost your twins a few years back, but glad to hear you have a wonderful daughter (only one?)

Lynn - October 27th, 2005 7:51 PM

I wanted to start with 100 mg but everything I have read says to start with 50 mg...I also heard that taking it days 1-5 or 2-6 increases chances of multiples. but i still stuck with 3-7 cause its in between....i dont want 3-4-5 children at once. i also was scared about side effects and all i have had is just some ticking tingling sensation in ovary area...kinda weird!!! Anyway, tomorrow is day 5 of clomid and cd7 so one week to go until O!!!!
