I have a question that maybe some of you can help me out with. My twin daughters were born 2 months premature - they were born Oct. 8th. They are eating every four hours and are not sleeping through the night. They are 4 1/2 months old since they were born. 2 1/2 months since their due date. Should they be sleeping through the night? If so how do you start having them go longer, especially with twins?

I think my twins and my singelton for that matter, were around 4 months old before they slept through the night.

I did not have twins however until they are at least 12 pounds they are going to continue to wake up often to feed. I wouldn't even try having them cry it out until they are 12 pounds. Since they were premies it is even more important that they eat on demand. I know it must be rough, you must be exhausted. I know I was with my singletons. Hang in there! Ask your pediatrician about this too....

Sorry - I just saw that they are 4.5 months...so they probably are 12 pounds now. Look for the 3 day sleep solution (internet) you have to purchase it for $40, but it is a wonderful tool on how to go about getting your baby to sleep through the night! IT has great info! Good luck!

I think mine were about 6 months before sleeping all the way through. But I can't exactly remember.. That whole time is a blur now :)

My twins were born 3 months early and were in the hospital for 10 weeks. When we brought them home they were also on the 4 hr schedule. They were born in July, came home in Sept and I believe they starting sleeping through the night around Dec/Jan. Good luck the sleeping does get better and then all of the sudden they will start waking up on the middle of the night. Sometimes 1 and sometimes both. Mine are 19 months now and somestimes one will get up 3 nights in a row and then the next night she sleeps and then the other one gets up. Yeah, it never ends.

I am just getting a little nervous because I have to go back to work March 3rd. My one daughter sleeps pretty well during the night. The other one always seems to wake up at 5am - even after a night feed. I am going to try and push their lasting feeding before they go to bed ahead an hour to see if she will sleep a little later. Right now I feed the between 8 and 9 at night and then they wake up between 1 and 2. In the afternoon they eat around 3 or 4. They usually take a evening nap around 6 or 7 and will sometimes sleep until there bedtime feed. Any ideas??

Oh I forgot to mention since I started this thread I have adjusted their schedule so they are now going 5 hours between feedings and are also eating an extra ounce ( 5oz.).

Are you breast feeding or using formula?
