Ok, I went in for a level 2 ultrasound today, and both babies look great, except that baby b (turns out it's a boy...yayy!) has one artery to his umbilical cord (that the dr can see anyway) and usually there is two. He said that he thought he saw two but couldn't really tell. He definitely saw the one for sure. He said not to worry if the baby is growing fine (and he is at this point) but to worry if he isn't growing. Has anyone heard of this or had a similiar situation like this happen to them??? I'm really scared! Thanks

Being on the baby board for several years, I have seen it many times and the outcome has always been good.

well mine wasn't exactly the same, there were little cysts or something in the brain, they ended up going away like the dr said, but I was FREAKED out until I had another u/s to see for myself it was gone.

Hi Dani! My twin boys are 15wks today and totally healthy. Both were small and not in the charts for their gestational age. But full-term and completely healthy.....except twin "a" the smallest (Lincoln) had only 1umbilical artery. Sometimes they call this a 2vessel cord(supposed to have 2 arteries and 1 vein). Sometimes it can affect the kidneys but usually not. Lincoln is just as healthy as Luke and ruled out kidney problems shortly after birth by doing a kidney ultrasound. So take heart....he might be smaller but will most likely be totally fine! Good luck and best wishes! You have sooooo much fun and sleepless nights ahead! Get ready to enjoy them! Belly Rubs to you!
