wow - that is a lot of twins!! as far as your chances, identical twins don't run in families - it is pure chance. i assume that most of the twins in your family would be fraternals, which DO run (the women in some families tend to "drop" more than 1 egg when ovulating). it doesn't matter if the men are twins on your side or on your husbands, as men don't ovulate. i would make a little family tree tracking the women on your side and how many of them had twins and whether the twins were id or frat. it won't give you a % chance, but it should give you an idea of the liklihood. also just to note that fraternal twins are "safer" to carry than id twins as they are guaranteed to have their own sacs, placentas, etc. frat twins can still be high risk, but id twins are more likely to have complications. good luck to you! |
